Cleveland: Downtown: East 4th Street Developments
East 4th needs to redo the the street section on the Euclid side. There are drainage issues and it is always wet. It looks terrible.

I agree. Awhile back I actually made my own map which looks very similar to yours. I originally had it running down lakeside but decided st clair might be a better option. http://g.co/maps/gr29d

On this site it seems that people tend to think the Red Line is a much stronger, far superior route than the Blue/Green lines. Im not sure if this is true. When looking at Jan/Feb ridership for both lines you get... Red Line - 1,002,300 Light Rail - 448,400 Thats 2.24 times more ridership. This sounds bad until you add this information in. The Red Line is 19 miles long There is only 12.45 miles of light rail(green/blue) Thats 1.5 times more track. Of that only 3.5 miles is unique to the green line and only 3.12 miles is unique to the blue line So thats 5.83 miles of shared track, which means that ridership is split in half for the majority of each route, which is why individual numbers look very small compared to the red line. The Redline also has the airport as a major boost to ridership. The Red line reaches more unique customers, and is stronger, but I wouldn't say its doing that much better than the light rail lines.

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
David Ellison leaves a comment on page 2. Ohio City homeless housing plan stirs heated debate: Michael K. McIntryre's Tipoff CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Cleveland City Councilmen Joe Cimperman and Matt Zone say they fully support a plan to create housing on Lorain Avenue to support homeless men who are fighting addiction. The Cleveland Housing Network has an option to purchase the property, a closed-down Hollywood Video store, and has submitted an application to the Ohio Housing Finance Authority for funding for the project. "It's just smart housing, smart public policy," said Zone. "But you have certain people who say Ohio City has been the dumping ground of too much social service agencies serving vulnerable populations," he said. "This gets right to the root of NIMBYism. [NIMBY is an acronym for Not In My Backyard.] People want to talk out of both sides of their mouth." http://www.cleveland.com/tipoff/index.ssf/2012/03/ohio_city_homeless_housing_pla.html

I agree the place is a bit expensive. I remember going there with my girlfriend and she found a pair of glasses she liked there. They were 40 some dollars I believe. They had a tag on them so I looked them up online from the company that made them website you could buy the same pair for $15 to $20. It was something like that, but it was awhile ago so I dont remember the exact prices, but it was less than half. Its one thing to support local business which I am glad to do, but that is just getting ripped off in that situation. I hope they do good though! Just not for me or my girlfriend.

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
Was in Ohio City tonight and was very pleased to see a lot going on. Tons of people were walking around, riding bikes, sitting out on the patios. Great weather! Not only West 25th either. Bridge had nice amount of walkers, and Hecks Cafe and the restaurants on Fulton and bridge were crowded. Nice night!

"Just because you can't see something, doesn't mean is doesn't exist." (The Santa Clause) I wouldn't be surprised if there are some white people somewhere in the Cleveland area that have never seen a black person. Doesn't mean they dont exist. I am no fan of country either so I doubt I will ever go there. Cant stand the stuff. But Texas Roadhouse always seems to be crowded and that is definitely country themed, so I expect this place to do good and am glad to see it coming downtown!

Two-thirds of transit riding is to/from jobs. Recessions kill transit ridership and, since transit agencies often depend on city or county sales taxes for revenue, recessions kill their ability to continue service. Same thing happened in the early 1980s. Major industrial employers closed their doors citywide. Some moved to the suburbs. Some moved down south. And some moved overseas. All are places RTA has difficulty reaching! And RTA raised its initial 35-cent fare, which was a discount from the Cleveland Transit System fare so ridership actually grew from 81.5 million in 1975 to 107.3 million in 1976! RTA started in 1975. BTW, you want to talk about what economic hardship can do to transit riding.... In 1929, the Cleveland Railway (operated streetcars and buses before municipal ownership and the creation of CTS in 1941) carried 357.4 million people. Two years later, in the depths of the Great Depression, ridership fell to 254.5 million -- a drop of more than 100 million! It bottomed out the following year at 249.9 million before rising to its all-time peak of 493.3 million in 1946. Thanks! It would be nice to get back to those ridership numbers! I found some information on 2011 ridership. It was over 46 million, so we did see an increase, but are still below the 2009 collapse. Exact ridership numbers for 2011 would be appreciated!

Based on these pictures, I think the facade is turning out better than I had expected from looking at the few renderings that were ever released.

Hey with the weather being nice out, how has perk park been? I passed it several times this winter since its completion and it was always dead, understandably. But with the great weather the past couple weeks I wonder if things have picked up. Was there anybody there when you went? Once Walnut Wednesdays start up, Perk Park should be a fun spot.

Cleveland Public Schools: News and Discussion
Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson's school plan gets show of support from bipartisan group of lawmakers COLUMBUS, Ohio — A bipartisan cast of Statehouse lawmakers stood with Mayor Frank Jackson Wednesday and pledged to move forward soon with a dramatic reshaping of Cleveland public schools through legislation. While the lawmakers, including two Cleveland Democrats -- Sen. Nina Turner and Rep. Sandra Williams -- stopped short of fully embracing Jackson's school plan, they sounded ready to shake up the status quo. Williams, who heads the Ohio Legislative Black Caucus, told reporters at the Statehouse news conference that she agreed with most of Jackson's plan but still had a few reservations about the bill's collective bargaining provisions. http://www.cleveland.com/open/index.ssf/2012/03/jacksons_school_plan_gets_show.html

I always wondered why they didnt do the elevations on the south end of Mall B instead. That would make the entrance be right by the Medical Mart, and give Mall A a cool boxed in look.

Do we have 2011 numbers? Also why did we see such sharp losses in 2009 and 2010? It looked as if ridership was turning around since 2003 but then tanked in 2009 and 2010. I think I remember seeing a ridership increase for 2011, so it will be interesting to see how that relates to the 2008 number before the collapse.

They also sell refurbished phones as "new" but I think even the official verizon stores do as well now. I would know. Turned on my new phone in the parking lot and let's just say there were already alot of sexting text messages on there and perhaps a few pictures.
