  1. ^^ and ^^^ Thanks.
  2. My bet is they plan to put something special in them for the world choir games.
  3. I would hope the buildings would be at least 3 stories tall. Sounds like you have a compelling reason not to approve short buildings.

They still need to collect a ton of signatures. I highly doubt it will be on the ballot this year.
  5. ^ Agreed. Burying all that junk should be a far greater priority than extra lanes and a new bridge. Unfortunately, I think we are pretty far away from that becoming a reality. The caps, on the other hand, could reasonably happen in the next five years. (e.g. If council views them as a priority and casino revenue starts rolling in.) Might take 5 more years after the caps are in place for someone to build on them. Would probably depend on what's going on with retail at the Banks. Could be a third phase of the Banks on the caps.
  6. Is there any BRT which is inevitable for Cleveland (other than the already-existing Healthline)? I was just poking around Cleveland on Google Maps thinking "that street could fit BRT. Wow, that one could too!" not really knowing how busy the streets are but seeing a huge amount of wide-enough streets in central areas which would seem ripe for BRT. Are there a lot of dedicated (non-BRT) bus lanes?
  7. Cool, thanks! Never been to this neck of the woods. LOL@Paul Ryan's Constituent Service Center
  8. They talked about earmarking some of the casino money for FWW caps. Actually, there was a non-binding motion passed for doing just that. IMO this absolutely needs to be done. It's not incredibly urgent, but those holes really stink up the walkability of the southern end of Downtown. Especially when combined with the way-overly-wide streets adjacent to them (2nd and 3rd). Putting on the caps creates a perfect opportunity for simultaneously narrowing these streets. The Banks will never reach its full potential, or have its full impact/synergy with Downtown, until these gaps are properly taken care of.

Ironic because lesbian marriages involve so many fewer dicks than straight marriages?
  10. ^ If Duke were to compromise on the 8-foot requirement, they could get much of their infrastructure upgrades paid for, and the streetcar budget would not have to be inflated. Sounds like win-win to me.
  11. It is? Do you mean in Price Hill (and/or other select neighborhood(s)) or the city as a whole?

We could have two streetcar lines for the price of one Votto! Glad he is sticking around, though. Let's bring home a trophy!
  13. I don't mind Eighth & State going off the handle with his crazy rants. But at the same time there's nothing wrong with Civvik calling a spade a spade...
  14. Not Kentucky.

^ You look like Ewan McGregor!
  16. ^ Not to be a jerk, but it's 'negotiations', not 'negociations'.
  17. Playing hardball is not good for Duke or the city. They are both stuck with each other, and it's in their best interests to maintain a healthy relationship. This is why we've seen Duke step back from their earlier aggression.
  18. What does that even mean if not that there is some chance Duke would refuse to supply power? Which is completely absurd. Unlike most businesses, power companies cannot refuse customers. Imagine how the courts would rule if Duke decided they would not supply power to, say, you, because they didn't like the addition you made to your house or something.
  19. Which is why most of us come to Urban Ohio: more sophisticated, informed, and nuanced discussion.
  20. That makes sense, I thought the fist banner was OTR Ale when I just glanced at it. It'll be interesting if they rotate those big banners every season. Definitely seems like that is the plan. My bet is they are having a ton of those made.
  21. Some here may know better than me, but so far as I can tell, the area east of Hamilton is now the more stable part of the neighborhood, with more crime issues and blight as you head west from Hamilton.
  22. Hmm, interesting. Thanks.
  23. ^ Ha, good eye. I didn't notice that!
  24. Awesome 'hood. Awesome photos.
  25. Carbonation could make for an interesting surface for ice skating.
