Someone took up a bunch of parking spaces!
  2. Ground floor retail space, please!
  3. Is it mentioned anywhere what the budget is for this project?

With the way the state's constitutional amendment is worded, they may very well have a case there. IMO if they were to win it would just serve to agitate a backlash. It would wipe out similar laws in Cleveland and Columbus, making the issue statewide. Even people who wish to "defend marriage" do not generally wish to deny health insurance, etc. It could be a blessing in disguise for gay rights proponents, if enough people are appalled by such unwanted repercussions of the amendment.
  5. Those two (Smitherman & Winburn) need to fall out of love ASAP.

^ Are you seconding MTS's assessment?
  7. Slow down? LOL. Meanwhile, COAST is criticizing the project for being behind schedule. Oh, and why is that video on usbank's Youtube channel?

Eh, I don't know about this. There have been a handful of females I've crossed paths with in my life that had an initial unreciprocated attraction to me that I over time would begin to feel differently about. Unfortunately I'm not aware of any instances where the opposite happened. But anyways, I think attraction can evolve if given the chance. It does evolve, but not exactly on command. So it's still "involuntary".
  9. Could have? More like did. Then they suddenly became "motivated" to pull it and give (a portion of) it to Kasich's home district instead.
  10. It's funny. But it's true.

^ The reflection? Edit: Sorry, I didn't read the post you quoted. :drunk:
  12. They want to make Ohio red and Ohio's cities dead. At least that's one camp. The other camp doesn't want there to be nice things for people who aren't "like them", regardless of whether those things are successful or not. Either way, it's a culture war issue. And that's where the passion, determination, and persistence comes from. If someone doesn't care or just thinks it's a stupid idea, they gave up the fight no later than the first ballot initiative.

^ Here's the problem with that: Recall means bringing the removal to popular vote. Telling the people they may not vote affirmatively unless malfeasance, etc., has been committed is pointless. They'll vote how they want to, regardless. Or at least many will, and it might result in the removal of someone who hasn't met your criteria. We already have impeachment rules in place which have stipulations like you suggest. This procedure actually has a high probability of following the rules you prescribe. Much higher a probability than a recall vote. Making impeachment redundant with recall has very limited application: when the legislature refuses to impeach, but sufficient cause is there. The likelihood of this is remote, while the likelihood of abusing recall powers is much higher. Therefore recall is impractical.
  14. This is getting to be like choose-your-own-adventure posting.
  15. Frankly, all you need to do is look at the streetcar to see why recalls aren't a good idea. Imagine having to vote for governor every election. Imagine how ineffective a governor would be who is constantly in campaign mode.
  16. All maps like that get me mad all over again about 3C. And I also get annoyed how StL gets the nice connection to Chicago, while Cincy doesn't, despite having Indy between them.
  17. ^ You mean COAST? :wink2:
  18. What I meant was, put more info in your video. Make a better sales pitch. ;) The book sounds interesting. And it's impressive someone your age followed through with such an endeavor!
  19. ^^ I only correct because, like OCtoCincy, I had no flipping clue what you were saying. Especially not knowing what Hoggy's is (and the possibility that "Hoggy's" was a nickname for Mahogany's). That, combined with your reversal, made me go ???.
  20. ^ You should aim to tell more about what's new that the book offers. What sort of analysis has not been offerec before? Maybe give a little preview of some insights you've had that let us know what might be in the book. I'm sure you don't have Jake's budget, but considering his book is probably your number one "competition" right now, take note of his video: Cincinnati's Incomplete Subway: The Complete History
  21. So you should say "All of their locations sans one are closed now."
  22. Whew. Dodged a bullet there.
  23. I remember seeing that letter when it was printed, back in May. I thought it was a joke then, and I think it's a joke now. The writer was making a caricature of anti-streetcar folks, and the Enquirer was in on it, too. They thought it was funny, so they published it. Everyone's in on the joke but you guys who are taking it seriously.
  24. Looks like a Boehndoggle.
  25. Ooh, sounds like music! (To me, as I don't have to actually listen to it. ;-)
