^ Oops. Thanks for the correction. Damn Yankees.

Maybe it's a statement that all are welcome -- even those struggling with the English language. :)

True. That kept it watchable. Still, I like to see some ups-and-downs in runs! :)

MLB: General News & Discussion
I watched last night, but prior to then I hadn't watched any full games. Two games in a row where the losing teams would be eliminated was interesting enough to watch. And obviously I had opinions about who I wanted to win, so that makes watching easier. Cards-Phillies was pretty boring, as the only run occurred in the top of the first. Then...crickets. I was surprised when Halladay intentionally walked Pujols to load the bases in the 8th. I agree with your Yankees sentiment. Seeing them snuffed out early was satisfying. (Though not as satisfying as if they hadn't made the post-season. At least it was via wild card.)

w00t. Sorry, Hts. (Phillies are out!)

MLB: General News & Discussion
I can't stand the Cards, but I'm hoping they keep their lead over the Phillies. I prefer a Midwestern team over a major market team, even if the MW team is the Reds' bitter rivals. Especially in Baseball, where the roster budgets get so crazy. Detroit so deserves to take it all.

Quoting the whole post for context, but the last line is what really cracked me up.

Really glad the Tigers dropped the Yanks. Hope they make it all the way! I'm pulling for the Tigers and the Brewers.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
^ He has really high name recognition. He's in the paper all the time, on the radio, and heads a major political organization. He doesn't need to raise a lot of money. BTW, Sherman, Google Chrome is telling me your site (shermancahal.com) has Malware.

I am dumbfounded that Smitherman and Allen are anywhere in the top 9. Unreal.

Cincinnati: Clifton Heights: U Square @ the Loop
Hmm, my bad. I really just thought they were letting the building deteriorate. They certainly didn't seem like they were going to save it during the four years I was at UC. I didn't read the article because I avoid feeding ad revenue to the Enquirer. I guess that leaves me uninformed and in no position to engage in intelligent conversation! You know, because the Enquirer is so good at informing the public. Well, that's really good news to me, then. I love that building!

Oh, I don't think remodeling is in the cards. They're going to tear it down. Which is tragic. I'm just taking that as a foregone conclusion and saying...whatever goes in its place had better be epic, and conscious of the area which it inhabits.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
^ Yep, and I think it's the latter. Does the NPotL one have a liquor license? If JR is a destination, that would be a huge boon for the Banks outlet.

Cincinnati: Clifton Heights: U Square @ the Loop
^ They'd better do something really amazing with that space, because: 1) it is a really prime location, and 2) I have a lot of love for Wilson Auditorium -- what a great piece of Art Deco Awesome!

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
I consider that an extension of the waffling. It allows him to be for the streetcar and against it, in an attempt to appeal to voters on both sides of the issue. Bottom line is, I don't trust him on this. Even though the logical consequence is that he would support the streetcar if Issue 48 is voted down. It's too much double-talk!

Candidates On: The Planned Streetcar System by Kevin Osbourne CityBeat My favorite answer: She has my vote! It's always such a pain carrying my mobile laptop appendage. LDS screens for all! (And LSD screening for Ms. Queen Noble.)

Another Dumb-a$$ List / Ranking of Cities
New York is one of the least "organic" cities I have seen in my life. If not the least (well, after LA). It's definitely on that top 10 list!

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
I think the Banks will be the mainstream alternative to OTR's edgy, bohemian bar/restaurant scene. Seeing as it is between the stadiums, it would be natural for a more preppy-jock place for suburbanites to come and hang out. Which is really fine -- if you want everyone to come downtown, you have to cater to everyone. Downtown proper is between the two, and a mix of the two plus the higher-culture, monied scene concentrated in the "backstage district". top6's explanation of life at the Banks makes it sound like a bit of a frat party already. It could be a game-changer in attracting preppy suburbanites to want to live and party downtown. But it might be kind of creepy for those of us who are not into places like the Cadillac Ranch. This makes connecting the Banks to the rest of downtown critical, if we don't want it to be a bubble suburbanites feel uncomfortable leaving without their cars. (Like NPotL but with apartments.) A grocery store should probably have a more central location, like near Fountain Square. I don't think the Banks is going to attract many stores geared toward residents, but I guess we'll see.

^ It was Omnicare, in case you didn't see in the other threads.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
Caps are different from the streetcar. I see what you're saying, though. But if people are going to the Banks and Smale Park and games, and have to walk over the mess top6 was talking about, they might feel a bit more favorable toward the caps. Who knows. And, frankly, it mostly matters on how much of a stink the Enquirer, the FOP, and any wingnut groups might put up. Otherwise the cap funding could easily go forward with no problems. Occasionally that happens.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
Casino money was unofficially targeted by council for FWW caps. However, that can hardly be relied upon, and currently there is no money whatsoever coming from the casino!

Cincinnati: General Business & Economic News
Very lame. We "gain" Omnicare from KY, meanwhile we (might) lose Chiquita to NC. We know which is relevant to the long term health of the city/region. Do Mallory and Kasich?
