Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Washington Park
Is Washington Park the new Greece?

Cincinnati: Downtown: Smale Riverfront Park
Permeable pavement with some color (red, green, blue, whatever) would be nice.

STICKY: Can I change my user name?
Tuesday is a bad day to request name changes. You might not get quite what you want!

John Boehner
If Obama and Biden keel over, you will get your wish. (Yuck.)

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
I would hope zero percent for a "large" grocery. A reasonably sized urban grocery, on the other hand, I'd say greater than zero. I'd actually hope for a major urban grocery in a more central location, though...not on the river. A few blocks north would be much better.

I tried that once. The reply?

STICKY: Can I change my user name?
"Basic" is pretty basic. Or "Username" or how about just "Name"?

Ohio Intercity Rail (3C+D Line, etc)
^ SORTA, who runs the Metro bus system, is set to run the Cincinnati streetcar system, too. Edit: Oh, you probably meant Metro in Akron. Sorry. (I got confused because KJP's post you quoted started out talking about Cincinnati.)

Where did you find Urbanohio????
Bump!

Is Cleveland Liberal?
Which is bitterly ironic since Cincinnati's mayor and vice-mayor are gay and lesbian/bi.

I like having some snow each year (I miss the seasons in a milder climate), but not as much as the North Coast or upper New England.

Columbus: LGBT-Friendly City
Columbusite, you need to get over your prejudices. Men in general are stereotypically aggressive. Think about seeing guys obnoxiously catcalling women. Why would you expect gay men to be any better behaved, or to restrict their bad manners to one neighborhood? Women are made uncomfortable by unwanted propositions all the time. Might as well get over it and consider it a compliment. (Same goes for women who room with guys -- some guys are jerks.)

Ohio Intercity Rail (3C+D Line, etc)
Actually, those lost generations are an opportunity. They are not the opponents. The opponents of 3-C are old white guys for whom trains are a thing of the past. We've got a couple of generations who have never known that past, and for them, trains are a cool part of the future. Just not Ohio's future. I wouldn't write the old white guys off as lost causes, either. There are probably a good solid number of old white guys out there with generally favorable impressions of America's railroads, and who wouldn't be at all opposed to upgrading the ones that happen to pass through Ohio (for both freight and passenger uses). Like the mayor of Sharonville! Actually, I don't know if he is old or white, but he's a Republican from suburban Cincinnati. Edit: Old & white confirmed!!! http://www.ci.sharonville.oh.us/images/council/LovittMayor.jpg (Too big to insert.)

Considering a move from Cincinnati to Cleveland
You should move while you're young and can do so on a whim. If you want it, do it! You can always change your mind. Cincinnati's hills are great for cycling! They make a man out of you, and keep you in shape! Why would you want to go somewhere flat and boring? You need only embrace the challenge. It becomes a positive! I do agree with edale that Madisonville is probably not the best 'hood for you. Your situation would qualitatively change a lot if you lived elsewhere. Particularly in terms of cycling. If you like it mostly flat, living in the basin is the only real choice. It gives you a pretty decent sized (densely populated!) area you can go without climbing significant hills. I disagree with his "Why Cleveland?" thing, though. There are lots of reasons to choose a non-Chicago Midwestern city over Chicago or the East Coast. I think you know that already. Cleveland's a great city, and well-worthy of your move. (I still prefer Cincinnati, and I'm not sure all your criticisms are fair -- but to each his own. Go out into the world! :)) One more thing: Don't listen to anything MTS says. Unless you want very one-sided, strong opinions full of bias. :whip:

"Overall trend" since 2007? Too low a sample size. I hope it continues, though!

^ In a global society, where cities have taken the role of mini-countries in themselves, this approach makes an enormous deal of sense.

Let's stop talking about failure in the streetcar thread! Bad karma! Good things are happening with the streetcar!

3C, DADT, Tax cut/Unemployment extensions... Today has been all about obstructionism. Saving grace: $35m for the Cincinnati streetcar! :D

Why is it, in all Ohio towns, the west side seems to be the blue collar side?
