Cincinnati: Downtown: Fourth & Race (Pogue Garage) Redevelopment
Spending half the money on less than half the end product is not a savings. And if you count the $4m in loans, it's almost the full amount. It's not clear if those loans are forgivable or not (probably not, but Cranley and Black could exploit the ambiguity).

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
I'm not a big fan of the way the facades are incorporated into the whole in the rendering. I think they have the right idea (since they are clearly going for Banks-bland architecture) of setting the higher part back from the preserved facades, but I think it should be set back further. I guess it would help to see the model from street-level, though, to judge how sufficient the setback is or isn't. The majority of the examples included in that document from other places are a joke, as they are clearly not aiming for that caliber of design. Hopefully the review board will see the glaring contrast rather than the supposed similarities they're trying to use as coattails to ride to easy approval.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Fourth & Race (Pogue Garage) Redevelopment
Is this directed to me? 1) I said several more. 2) Yes, a garage with hundreds of residential units and more retail than currently exists will generate more trips on downtown streets than the current parking garage does. By itself, I don't see it creating gridlock. Add several more -- i.e. add thousands of residents and hundreds of destinations and subsidize the use of automobiles to get there -- and we'll see how crowded the streets get.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Fourth & Race (Pogue Garage) Redevelopment
There is going to be so much gridlock on our downtown streets when we add several more of these parking towers with residential components.

There are so many entertaining gifs and videos floating around after this game, but this old one had me laughing the most.

Did you forget that game is at 1 p.m. on a Sunday? The Browns series provides a perfect example of 1pm Sunday vs. any other day/time.

Hts121, it's okay to embrace those urges. Society is becoming ever more accepting. You may even be able to marry in the state of Ohio before your new amore graduates!

Is WEBN changing to R&B?
WLHS is what you were thinking about; it's not around any more. And you can thank Mt. Rumpke for blocking WOXY's signal to the east side... maybe. Yeah, WLHS! Those kids really impressed me. Couldn't believe it was high school kids putting together those playlists. Probably got cut when the West Chester folks refused to pass a school levy for the tenth time. Sad! If anyone wants a cool eclectic station to stream online, check out WFMU. Remind me of WOXY sometimes.

Before & After: Ohio Cities
I agree. It took even more of a hit than Detroit. The amount that was torn down. Also consider that what was torn down was of a similar character to Over-the-Rhine. As much as OTR is a treasure, imagine if it were multiple times bigger than it is. The quality and amount of what was lost is just insane.

Liberty Township: Liberty Center
"the project ended up receiving more than $49 million in funding backed by taxpayer dollars when including a $12 million loan previously approved by Ohio Water Development Authority, Brossart said." Good lord.

Hipsters
Exactly. And it was the power of the recording industry to control what you listened to which let these underground superstars rise. Now you can find extremely talented, innovative, obscure bands from across the country who are self-distributing all their music online. But it's next to impossible for such an act to gain enduring notoriety, no matter how talented or innovative. Thank the hipsters for introducing everyone to this new reality. Once a fringe movement, "blog rock" is now basically the status quo, particularly for the underground, and one of its defining characteristics is not having leaders. It's an obvious progression if you accept that, for every Velvet Underground, there were tens or hundreds of potential Velvet Undergrounds that simply weren't discovered.

Is WEBN changing to R&B?
I never liked WEBN. I only ever listened to it when the hills were blocking the WOXY signal from Oxford. Then after WOXY went off the air, I discovered a station done by Lakota high school students which was pretty good. Can't remember the call numbers. I wonder if it's still around and/or still any good. WAIF is still good, as far as I know. Lots of talk on there, though.

OKI desperately needs new leadership. The status quo is a huge impediment to progress in the region.

Pilsner is a type of lager, btw. Usually if there is a lager or koelsch on offer, it's the "light beer".

You're probably right about Latos. I just liked him, so it sucks to see him go. I also think the window has closed, and we are in for several years of mediocrity. Let's hope the Bengals and/or Bearcats can pull through with a championship title.

Noooooo, I really wanted to keep Latos.

Another possibility would have been voting to pause for a certain length of time for the second audit to be completed, but resuming work automatically without a (supermajority) vote to do so. If this were done, the appearance of a lack of good faith could have been avoided. As things were executed, it just looked like an underhanded way to cancel the project at the time.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
So was the pause 100% Mann's idea? Because it would have been possible to audit but not stop work. (Actually this was done by Deatrick's team, which produced almost identical results to KPMG's, IIRC.)

Ohio Designated Outdoor Refreshment Areas (DORA / Open Container)
What else would they serve them in, if you are leaving their premises? I was just saying how it works. I don't know...sometimes I've gotten a special event glass or something from a bar to take home (say perhaps an All-Star Game commemorative glass from the Holy Grail). A municipality might want to make a law where, even if you can buy drinks in the glass on-premises and are taking the glass home, you can't leave the place with a drink in glass. Also a lot of bars have outdoor patios on the sidewalk outside. The law might make it illegal to take a glass past the patio (which is currently only the case because of open container laws). Bars would probably like that as it would help prevent their glassware from walking away.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
How can a tree falling in the forest make a sound if there's no one there to hear it? How can a quarterback see his receiver if he's a midget? How can one hand clap? I don't know, man. It's all to deep for me.
