NFL: General News & Discussion
Funny, I got NE and TB but couldn't think of the Panthers.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Depends on your priorities, but if your priority is to support the streetcar, voting for only 8 is the best option. If your priority is to get rid of Smitherman, voting for 9 is the best option. An impotent Smitherman is better than an anti-streetcar majority with no Smitherman, IMO.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
The Enquirer still hasn't covered the story of tracks in the ground. Clearly the puppet masters gave the order not to, probably for fear it would influence tomorrow's election.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
Wow, awesome. Just checked the scores. Browns beat Ravens, and Steelers lose. All-in-all a great Sunday!

Forest Park: Forest Fair Mall / Cincinnati Mills Redevelopment
It would fit in at Newport on the Levee. Maybe make it a lot taller and put a spike at the top and put it next to the millennium bell.

All Aboard Ohio
Anywhere in Ohio is too far for me. Maybe some day.

All Aboard Ohio
Thanks for the report. I would like to attend, but it's too far.

KJP, can we have a report? Did you get to check out Washington Park and other non-streetcar stuff that's new?

Cincinnati: Mayor John Cranley
^ You seem to think Cranley is doing pretty well. How rational are his arguments? At least this one is factually based, which is more than can be said for much of what comes out of Cranley & Co.'s mouths. If it helps get some people to turn out, so be it.

Your Daily Commute
Cincy does pretty well without rail, and without county funding for SORTA. In fact, Detroit and Cincy are at the top of the pack for non-rail cities, with the exception of Honolulu. (All three of these cities are building rail now, if I'm not mistaken.)

Cincinnati City Council
The Enquirer keeps saying "perceived by some as racist," like there is subjectivity to it. Grow a spine! At least they are covering the story. Even if it's just in the "blog" section.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Yeah, Cranley's ego is a lot bigger than he is, and people like that tend to pretend anything that may damage that ego doesn't exist. The blind rage against the streetcar is either completely ego driven or a brilliant political game; hopefully it's the latter, but with Cranley who knows. Are you still undecided?

OSU/UC/CSU urban planning programs
It's not a matter of the degree being more or less attractive; it's a matter of networking and interning in Cleveland while you're attending school, which is far more important than the prestige of your degree. If you don't know where you'll want to work, then the prestige of the degree takes on greater importance. For a job in Cleveland, it's better to spend your time in school making contacts in the Cleveland area. For a job in Portland (or anywhere besides Cleveland), it's better to have a more prestigious degree from OSU or UC. That's my take, anyhow. Here's some info about Cincy's proposed bike share: http://www.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/news/2013/09/12/cincinnati-wants-bike-share-program.html IMO what really needs to happen for it to work as well as it can is for the NKY river cities to get on board. There's more flat ground close to Downtown in NKY than on the Ohio side. It will be nice to have either way, but NKY would add a ton of value.

OSU/UC/CSU urban planning programs
OSU and UC are both top-20 programs, very close in ranking (they switch up or down from year-to-year). If you want to stay in Cleveland, go to CSU, because it would be better to study in the city you are going to work in. If you aren't sure about staying in Cleveland, go to one of the others. Both are almost identical in national reputation, like I said, so choose based on 1) which city you would rather live in (while you do your degree), and 2) whether you are more interested in policy or design. Edit: BTW - Columbus currently has a bikeshare and Cincinnati is planning on introducing one soon (there's already a lot of planning work done, and it seems like a sure thing).

Cincinnati Bengals Discussion
Bengals looked like a Super Bowl team today. The Jets don't suck that badly; especially not their defense. Dalton was on point. Marvin Jones had an amazing show. Hope Maualuga makes a quick recovery.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Glad you recognize what an embarrassment and a disaster it would be to cancel the project at this point. I keep having to pinch myself to see if this is a bad dream -- why is this even on the table at this point in the game? The "anti-streetcar" stance should be anti-expansion, not creating Cincinnati Subway 2.0. It's civic masochism.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Despite being early supporters of the parking lease, and after the last election saying it was time to drop the opposition to the streetcar, they endorse the candidate which used opposition to those things as the means of differentiating himself from the other candidate. That inconsistency is what had me thinking maybe they would endorse Qualls. I'd really love to know the behind-the-scenes details on these decisions. Because I cannot decipher the rationality. The "reasons" they wrote are so forced and hollow, in light of positions the paper has previously taken on the relevant issues.

Cincinnati City Council
This is Cranley's base, ladies and gentlemen. And they're not just voices on Facebook. Kevin Osbourne used Jim "getto" Kiefer as a source, introduced as a Cranley supporter, in the article which John Curp and the Ohio Ethics Commission debunked. You know, the one Kevin went and did a talk radio tour about. http://www.wcpo.com/news/political/local-politics/cincinnati-mayoral-race-attacks-between-qualls-cranley-get-more-heated These are not just random people. They are semi-official spokespeople for Cranley's campaign (as confirmed by the mainstream local media). Does Cranley have anything to say about this?

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
The Enquirer never did run a story on rails going in the ground, did they?

Suburban Sprawl News & Discussion
Many "libertarians" are just as fine with restrictive suburban zoning as they are with highway subsidies. Probably most, actually. There is some sort of cognitive disconnect when it comes to these issues.

MLB: General News & Discussion
That is pretty striking, especially since the WS is between two major franchises. Wonder if it were some team other than the Giants playing the Vikings if the same would have happened.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
