Cincinnati: Clifton Heights: U Square @ the Loop
Wait, a Waffle House is going to be in an urban storefront? At first, I was like "ewww", then the ironic hipster side of me was like oh, hell yeah!!!! Cheap 24-hour greasy food and coffee is a brilliant idea for this space. Could easily rival Clifton Skyline for the after-bar crowd.

The Bike Subculture Thread
I hope biking as a status symbol dies soon, but I think its functionality, combined with investments in and proliferation of urban lifestyles (including bike infrastructure) will make cycling even more popular. To the extent I am a bike advocate, my goal is to make cycling like driving or breathing, just a natural thing for people of all stripes to do in a utilitarian fashion. Much as it is in many parts of Europe.

The only thing worse than treating a bloodstain as a tourist site is writing an article about it. Distasteful.

Think of how much congestion would be alleviated if everyone in the loop in a 90+ square foot car were on a bicycle instead.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Hampton Inn / Homewood Suites (Cincinnati Enquirer Building Redevlopment)
My vote is for a parking lot. That part of downtown doesn't really have any affordable parking. They could make the money for the demo back many-fold.

Cincinnati: Mayor John Cranley
LOL, I definitely remember him saying he would support Qualls.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
If a majority of them were critical of the Enquirer, it seems kinda fishy. I think that's what people are getting at. That the deletion might be censorship to white wash their image.

Cincinnati Bengals Discussion
It probably doesn't matter much, but I think most people, if they have seen it, have lost it from their memory. Average NYC sports fan does not know what the Cincinnati skyline looks like.

^^ So which is it, people under 30 or people born after 85? As someone under 30, I was very familiar with Jello Biafra before 2000. Although not when that video was shot. My teen years were largely defined by basement punk shows in Corryville and CUF, not an internet scene. Maybe it is those of us falling in your time crack that have an enlightened perspective on hipsters, understanding both the before and after.

Cincinnati Bengals Discussion
Nice preseason game defeating the Jets. They kept showing the most ridiculous angle of the Cincinnati skyline, though. PNC Tower on the far left, Atrium on the far right next to Scripps, with a big gulf in the middle. No sign of Carew or Great American, or even Fifth Third. Made Downtown look smaller than Dayton's. Wonder why they chose that shot.

The worst thing to me is not babies but text-filled "images" shared by retired boomers. What is wrong with sharing text as text, for one? And why do I need to be spammed incessantly with bumper sticker slogans which you find clever? At least baby images are more visually interesting than something a fax machine spits out. Make use of the medium's capabilities. In another decade, we'll be lucky if these boomers have discovered LOLcats.

Cincinnati: Downtown: W&S Condominium Project (3rd & Broadway)
I don't know what the motivations might have been, if there were any. The timing is just fishy. It caused property to change hands and insurance money to be awarded. Someone might have felt they would benefit from a fire. I'm not going to discuss this any further, because it's pointless to speculate. But it seems silly to think everything is obviously kosher here. It doesn't even take a transitioning neighborhood for someone to desire insurance money (for example).

Wonder how you were picked to receive that. Registered Republican, maybe.

Cincinnati: Downtown: W&S Condominium Project (3rd & Broadway)
It's not as if 3CDC would have to explicitly be in on it. There could be suggestions, winks and nods, or even the perception of those in their absence. I agree the whole thing looks suspicious. How many years was Smitty's operating with no problems? Then once development is creeping up Vine, boom, a problem with the wires. It's suspicious, but we will probably never know more about it, if there is anything more.

UC already has one, if we are counting campus bikeshares.

Cincinnati: Urban Grocery Stores
Yo, we all need to send in more progressive LTE's all the time. We are way too reactionary on that ish.

LOL. They are totally the WBC of urban planning. Perfect description. The media likes them because they attract an audience. It's all about infotainment.

I have an idea...let's spend tax dollars on litigation, regardless of the outcome of the hearing tonight.

My point was all about MTS's taste and not about NYC or Cleveland.

Cincinnati: Urban Grocery Stores
Sorry, I guess when you said we were being "pretty demanding of Kroger", I thought you were saying the demands were unreasonable, rather than unrealistic or just not worthwhile because of Kroger's long-standing attitude. I agree that competition is likely the best way to force their hand, or render their auto-orienting influence impotent.
