  1. ^ It would be a dirty shame to lose those. A hotel at the Banks will be a game changer for the Freedom Center. Almost like having a captive audience. Why would you visit the city and stay there and not go to the Freedom Center?

Very nice win over the Pirates! Looking forward to two more. Even without Phillips and Votto, the Reds are doing great. Sure hope they come back soon, though!

    ^Someone lost a pet. :-(
  4. We know, but Rock Gaming promised this one would be urban-friendly. Remember the charettes and all that?
  5. No one seems to be mentioning the gay angle. It hurts the right's position that it is his fault, or it could happen to anyone, or that gays are not really discriminated against. It hurts the left's position that Cincinnati is tolerant and this was a random act unlikely to reoccur. It is one possible motive, though, which is consistent with Seelbach's story. It could also be a botched mugging. It won't be the end of his career unless something more comes out, like if something happens with the sexual harassment allegation.
  6. I think there is a nuanced discussion to be had about the appropriation and distortion of once-countercultural ideals by the mainstream, but the people bringing it up never seem to want to engage in nuance. The discussion in the hipster thread is a good example. I see it as something to monitor and keep in check, but not something to decry. I'm glad West Chester has a farmers market, for example.
  7. It's less about looking out the windows and more about being dead to the street.
  8. I agree his basic argument invokes a straw man. He over simplifies a lot of issues, so there is a lot to unpack, which I don't have time to do now. I think there is an underlying critique of the modern left being beholden to monied interests which deserves introspection, and that to me is the most valuable take-away from the article. I don't think the establishment embracing what started as Bohemian is necessarily a bad thing, which is something he seems to criticize.
  9. It would all be great schadenfreude if we didn't have to help pay for it.
  10. ^ Why they couldn't use such foresight regarding utility expansion is beyond me.
  11. Wouldn't mind them filling in the Banks hotel spot.

Yeah, that's what I always think. Not that it's in Covington, either, though. Weirdness. At least Union Terminal is CIN.

I don't mind it when referring to airports, but when used to refer to cities it is annoying and pretentious. I kind of agree about the smaller airports. I didn't know what ISZ was either but it was easy to tell based on context.

I was going to say, doesn't that just about describe your metalhead self? :-P
  15. But the comment from that employee came after prompting by Sherman, in which he mentioned the James Dego comments, no?
  16. Makes me wonder how they caught wind of Seelbach being at Bakersfield, since James Dego seemed to be the first to post about it.

I, for one, welcome our Internet-era hipsterlords.
  18. Yeah, after all the hullaballoo, no mention in the media (or on here) of the opening. Weird.

Hoping we see some better pitching for the rest of this Padres series (on both sides, really!). What a sh!tshow so far.
  21. That is disappointing to hear of Seelbach acting that way, if it's true. :|
  22. James Dego commented on the WLWT article:
  23. I know you two are joking, but remember it's a public forum.

    Powerful composition.
  25. ^ Bingo.
