Cincinnati: Downtown: Smale Riverfront Park
^ Possibly because the shots are taken near the Roebling Bridge and they want it as a focal point?

Cincinnati: Evolution and Changing Perceptions of Urban Neighborhoods
I think it is good to experience life elsewhere, especially when you are young. But there is nothing wrong with settling down in your home town, especially when it's awesome.

ODOT Policy Discussion
^ Agreed, they gave some pretty bad choices which were exhaustive, so I skipped a couple questions.

Edit: Thanks CDM but I still had to fix what you did. :P Ahh, a real keyboard. Tablets certainly have their limitations. (At some point I will probably do a Pet Peeves post on tablet frustrations...haven't passed the threshold just yet. Or maybe when I have passed the threshold I am far too annoyed to attempt a post.)

Cincinnati: Evolution and Changing Perceptions of Urban Neighborhoods
This is kind of off topic since it covers the whole city, but what blows me away about this article is the overwhelming positivity in the comments section: http://news.cincinnati.com/comments/article/20120718/EDIT/307180025/Cincinnati-please-don-t-apologize It is really starting to feel like we have turned a page.

Downtown Department Stores
The pro-Tower City folks remind me of the pro-skywalk folks in Cincy. Bring the people to the streets, people!

Dayton: Random Development and News
Maybe they will have room now for all that parking they want.

Downtown Department Stores
Maybe we need a third category. I'm not sure where you stop including things as department stores, though, if you start broadening the field. I don't know if the point is to say something fundamental about these cities so much as it is to note that the cities with were able to retain a relic. More an analysis of curiosity than a state of affairs.

Downtown Department Stores
I think the question being probed is whether a "Nordstrom-shaped void" exists, rather than whether a downtown with a large clothing+ store is better off than one without. I think the subsidy question is a very good one (which of these stores are (not) subsidized). I'd be interested to know, if anyone can answer that. Honestly, I don't think we should fret the departure of these too much. Their square-foot economic impact must be pretty small, even when they are thriving. Not that they aren't a plus and don't make downtowns more livable.

Downtown Department Stores
Haha, weird list idea. I'm surprised Indy doesn't have any. Edit: Or maybe it does, according to Mwd711.

Cincinnati: Festivals, Music Concerts, & Events
natininja replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Restaurants, Local Events, & EntertainmentThanks. I guess Sawyer Point really stood out since it opened when I was a wee lad. I remember going down there when the flying pigs were just put in, the timeline thing, etc. Sawyer Point, Yeatman's Cove, and TMB Friendship Park having separate names makes things confusing.

Cincinnati: Festivals, Music Concerts, & Events
natininja replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Restaurants, Local Events, & EntertainmentCan someone clarify for me the relationship between Sawyer Point and Yeatman's Cove? As a kid, we just called the whole area down there Sawyer Point. Glad to hear Bunbury was a success. Wish I could have gone. I really hope it grows and happens as annually.

Non-Ohio Light Rail / Streetcar News
Several people from here post on that forum.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
I like how he says he shares your concerns, but I don't like how he merely says he will keep them in mind, rather than saying he will fight for them. Makes my enthusiasm level drop significantly. I am of the opinion that we should have very high expectations of our politicians, and when I see politician-speak, I start to feel sick. I want to see commitment and follow-through. He made no commitment to anything substantial, just threw a bunch of talking points out there to make you happy. The wording of the letter is quite interesting in that it's obviously meant to cover both streetcar supporters and someone who is not necessarily a supporter but opposes the amendment on the grounds of it being overbroad/blocking lightrail.

Another Dumb-a$$ List / Ranking of Cities
Saint Louis is a huge out-performer in having a ton of major companies, but they aren't on the list. Something is fishy.

Cincinnati Mosaic Steps
Holy crap that cycle lift thing is awesome. It looks uncomfortable, though. I really wanna try it!

Cincinnati Mosaic Steps
Maybe instead of focusing on the stairs themselves, we could do decorative handrails that brighten the stairs up and make them uniquely Cincinnati. The stairs might be painted a solid color or something, if not left as they are.

Cincinnati Reds Discussion
Well now we are back tied for first. :-) Let's sweep those whiny Cardinals and get a few games up!

Cincinnati Mosaic Steps
I like this, but I wish we could come up with more unique things, rather than copying coastal cities.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Yes, that was a political gift from the corporate gods, in the form of a gift to a corporate god. One-day CEO = boondoggle for rate payers, for sure.

Cincinnati-OTR-Auburn Quit blocking the Alleys!!
I would like to see alleys in Downtown and OTR turned into a bike network. Privatizing sounds like it will lead to lots of gating, which is a negative for cyclists and pedestrians. Though I do realize they can be crime hotspots, so they must be treated strategically.
