TBH it sounds like someone has scared you into being more fearful of hackers than you should be.

Pet Peeves!
You connect the router via a wired connection to the internet (i.e. modem), the same way you are connecting your computer now. Then you connect your computer to the router, also via a wire, as you connect directly to the modem now. The router sends a wireless signal to the iPad.

Cincinnati: Crime & Safety Discussion
I'm afraid if police faced the same level of noncooperation in wealthier neighborhoods, they wouldn't do a good job of policing them, either. The main investigative tool police have is gathering testimony of eye witnesses. Even in the age of DNA evidence and whatnot. It's a chicken-or-egg thing, with a definitive answer: racist policing came first. But knowing the cause doesn't help bring a solution. Police could be busting their balls but they won't be able to provide a high level of detection without community cooperation. That's why the most important thing the police need to do that they aren't doing enough is developing human rapport with the communities they serve -- not sleuthing. They need to prove to the community that they each have a personal investment in the betterment of that community, gaining the trust the lack of which leads to noncompliance. If the officers actually don't care, then we need new officers, since no amount of outreach will prove their authentic devotion. If these officers exist, it should be a priority to weed them out, or give them desk jobs if that's all labor contracts permit.

TBH I haven't been to the Lager House (dying to go!) so I shouldn't really talk. But, going from memory, the menu seems a little on the "safe side". But it has all the local flavor, the brewery, a mini-museum, etc., etc., so no it's not Applebee's-like other than not getting too adventurous with the menu. And even there there are some things that you would never see at Applebee's, like the German stuff.

You mean incredibly amazingly energetically positive! LOL. http://www.local12.com/mediacenter/local.aspx?videoId=3479350&navCatId=20036 That last line from Kit Andrews was lifted from UrbanCincy.com this morning. Compare: UrbanCincy [http://urbn.cc/p2hm] at 11am said, "Cincinnati Mayor Mallory has already hinted that groundbreaking could take place this summer." Kit Andrews for WKRC at 5pm said, "Cincinnati Mayor Mark Mallory has hinted that the city could break ground for the second phase of The Banks sometime this summer." Awesome. Too bad they didn't credit UrbanCincy. Rando, did you catch this?: http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/topic,27294.0.html

I stand by the "upscale Applebee's" comment, though I haven't eaten at one, either. Frankly, you could make that same argument about the Lager House if it weren't for the fact that it is not a chain and has an acclaimed chef there making a menu for the specific restaurant and overseeing the kitchen...both of which cannot be said about the Yard House. Poke around on their menus. I think you'll agree they are similar. I guess Applebee's is "American Fusion". LOL. http://www.yardhouse.com/menus/house-favorites.aspx http://applebees.com/menu/sizzling-entrees

I honestly don't understand what you mean. If you were referring to my Applebee's comment, I was being dead serious. This restaurant seems like a good one to appeal to people who like Applebee's. I didn't mean that in a negative way. Quite the opposite, I think it's a good fit for the Banks. I see the Banks as an appropriate place to put that type of thing. It's a part of Downtown which is ideal for attracting a more mainstream crowd that might be more into football than musicals at the Aranoff. There's nothing wrong with that. Downtown should have something to offer everyone, and one of the demographics that isn't catered to enough currently is Joe Suburb and his wife and kids. The Banks is a perfect showcase to get those people accustomed to coming Downtown. Come for the game or the park, see that there are places to eat, enjoy it, keep coming. Maybe get adventurous and walk up to Fountain Square or, heaven forbid, ride the trolley folly to OTR. This restaurant helps make that kind of scenario possible.

If it were a mugging the guy would probably not have gotten shot if he had complied with the demands of the other guy. He could have died because he chose to pull his gun instead. Concealed carry people, take note. Rather than protecting yourself you just might end up with a gunshot wound you wouldn't have had without your "protection".

How about we stick on the crime topic. Either explain how that proposal will prevent crime or take it to another thread. Taking the essentials from people who already have nothing to lose will only lead to more desperation and criminal behavior. You want to force them to be desperate enough to find a well-paid job. Gainful employment is not where desperation leads an impoverished addict.

Amen. Isn't it interesting that this weakness is also Ohio's biggest strength: it has 3 great cities, each with a legitimate claim at being the greatest, all for very different reasons.

A drug test doesn't tell you if someone is selling drugs, which would be the predictor of violence. Do you realize most drugs are water soluble and out of one's system in a couple hours? Drug testing primarily just catches fat-soluble pot. If you have data showing pot smokers are more likely to be violent than nonsmokers, I'd like to see it.

It's funny I overlooked the med school since the one person I know IRL who went there got their MD. You guys are missing the broader point I was making, though, that Cleveland has little to learn from Pittsburgh in the way Pittsburgh has leveraged their universities to be a major player in their economic revitalization. Cleveland just doesn't have an equivalent of the University of Pittsburgh, which is a major omission when trying to use that strategy. I agree Pittsburgh is not nearly as far ahead of Cleveland as it is hyped to be. That's why I spoke in terms of perception. Still, there are some indicators that Pittsburgh is further along than Cleveland. I was making use of the idea that the common perceptions being so divergent (Pittsburgh has made a major turnaround and Cleveland is a little Detroit) cannot be 100% delusional. There are some significant differences. One being that Pittsburgh has actually posted positive numbers in MSA population change. Let me be clear: I do not buy that Cleveland is a little Detroit, and I do not buy that Pittsburgh is all roses. I feel like we've gotten bogged down by details, a couple of which I have admittedly botched, and started to miss the broader points which are sound.

Ohio: GDP List & News
Yeah, obviously they aren't that similar now, since Pittsburgh is recognized as springing back and Cleveland is seen as still in freefall mode. Pittsburgh has made a transition which Cleveland is struggling to get to. MissinOhio made a comment about what the 3Cs have to learn from Pittsburgh, which makes historic similarities relevant. That's the context in which I made the comment you replied to. You only mentioned current stats, which are only a small piece of the picture.
