  1. Butler is a tiny school, though. I bet MSU fans coming down from East Lansing and elsewhere in the Midwest will outnumber Bulldog fans. Yeah, because Duke was given a cakewalk to the Final Four! ;)

If Strickland wins in this political environment, he'll have really earned it.
  3. Thanks for the information! I know there are some great parks in that area, but I didn't know about Hach-Otis. I'll have to check it out some time. On this bit of exploration I want to see some of the more "urban" parts of the area, so I'll set aside another time to see the parks.
  4. For some reason I've been kind of fascinated with this area lately. Next week I think I'm going to take a leisurely drive through the area, and I'd like to have some points of interest to focus on, maybe get some pictures of. So far I'm thinking of checking out historic downtown Willoughby, downtown Wickliffe, Kirtland Mormon temple, and Gates Mills (yes I know that's Cuyahoga County!). Anything else? Anything by the lakefront area? I want to go exploring a bit, but I also want to have a little direction, so any advice would be helpful! Thanks...
  5. Haha, great pictures. A few friends of mine lived in that area on Summit when they went to OSU. I used to visit all of the time, lots of drunk walks back through that neighborhood from High St. And I'm glad to see that Ruby Tuesday is still around. We'd sometimes grab a drink or two there since it was right across the street. What a hole-in-the-wall! Owners used to have a gigantic dog, I believe a great dane, walking around the bar hanging out with the patrons.
  6. Well, if at the beginning of the season, you would have told me that they'd get to the Sweet 16 and lose, I'd be satisfied. However after the way they came together during the season and played so well down the stretch, I'd be lying if I didn't say that this is a bit of a disappointment. Oh well, it was a great ride, they'll be back next year. And if Turner has played his last game in an OSU uniform, like many expect, he gave us a lot to cheer for, and I'll be hoping he succeeds at the next level. GO BUCKS!
  7. I don't think as highly of Pearl, I've heard some bad things about him, but I respect him for disciplining those players. Also, I don't believe that Ohio State played Tennessee in the tournament in 2008. That may have been a regular season game. Ohio State was in the NIT in 2008, in fact they won it that year.

Come on, this goes both ways. How could conservatives be so asleep under Bush and so awake under Obama? It has a lot to do with whether or not it's your guy who's pushing the limits of the Constitution (not you in particular, but in the case of conservatives and liberals who blindly tow the party line).
  9. That would be awesome! Bunch of boarded up factories, the destitute Browns and Cedar Point to make up for it all! We've got the lake, too! Sohio won't be party to any Great Lakes water pacts...
  10. Somewhere I heard Turner being compared to Pippen. It's obviously far too early to know how good he'll be in the NBA, but I definitely see the resemblance in the style of his game. Definitely won't be a PG in the NBA, I see him playing SF or maybe SG.
  11. Ha, I think hundreds of JCU students load up and take the rapid down, not too mention all of the high schoolers that are cutting.
  12. Well, if they were going to do that, they have some cover, because there was quite a bit of lightning last night.
  13. Melt is opening their eastside location on the corner of Cedar/South Taylor in Cleveland Heights. Whenever I drive by, progress seems slow, but I guess they're aiming for a late Spring opening.
  14. I'm more worried about Tennessee than the NIU/MSU winner. If MSU can beat NIU, I think the Bucks match up very well with a Spartans team that is without Lucas.
  15. Why was the Arcade so packed?
  16. Dayton, Ohio, home of my alma mater, a city with a historic past and a bright future. It may never have the size or clout of other large Ohio cities, but there is a place for a thriving Dayton in this state and country.
  17. I'm saying that just looking at the numbers is not a good way of picking a city whose policy you want to emulate. That holds generally, but specifically I was focusing on the fact that the numbers will not instantly tell you whether a city has any flavor. And the policies of a successful numerically, but flavorless city may not be the best policies to follow, lest you run the risk of losing the flavor you have. I agree, but aspiring to be like Houston just to foster a business-friendly environment seems, to me, ill-advised. It's also sunbelt, has oil off its coast, yada yada...yeah, they're not a great comparison. I suppose it's interesting, though. It's certainly a different perspective than your standard city-enthusiast would give, but that doesn't necessarily make it very useful. It doesn't necessarily make it not useful either, I guess. I agree, I don't think that Houston is a realistic model, and even if it were, I wouldn't like to see Cleveland go in that direction if possible.
  18. Way to go Buckeyes! I never really expected this team to be this good, but holy smokes, they are solid, and if things fall into place, they have a shot at winning it all!
  19. Very interesting stuff!
  20. Cleveland need not lose its soul in the process of making itself more business-friendly.
  21. Things have lined up nicely for the Buckeyes, but I'm a little worried about a Tennessee team that took out Kansas and Kentucky during the regular season.
  22. How would Greater Cleveland be different if most of those streetcar lines were still in use? Curious what people think...
  23. Isn't Houston also a bastion of Federal jobs? I bet if we got some of that action up here things would improve a bit.
  24. Dan Dakich explicitly booted Basset off of the Indiana basketball team. Sure a lot of it had to do with his drug use, but he and another player were given another chance with the Hoosiers and blew it by missing meetings.
