I believe that this development is located within the boundaries of the CH-UH City School District, am I right?

Cuyahoga County: County Government Reform News & Discussion
Since the other discussion on this topic was killed, I'll start it back up over here. As a resident of UH, I would not want my city to be merged with SE and CH. The only thing that would make that even remotely palatable would be if some combination of Lyndhurst, Beachwood, and Shaker Heights were also included in the merger. But then again, those residents would probably want nothing to do with such a merger, either. And merging all of Cuyahoga County together? That would be absolutely terrible, we'd see an exodus out of the county by those with the means to leave that would mirror the exodus out of Cleveland that started in the 1960s and is still continuing to this day...

Cleveland: 2012 Democratic National Convention?
No, I don't think he's going to win here regardless, but I think it would have helped him in a not insignificant way to have it in Cleveland. If he wasn't going to win anyway, then how would it have helped him in a "not insignificant way"? And I don't agree that he "owed" us the convention any more than any other state that went for him. I think it would make it closer than it's going to be. As for him owing us the convention, somewhere I read a commentary describing Pittsburgh's selection for the G-20 Summit as a payback for all of the support that WPa. gave to Obama during the 2008 election. I just think of Ohio, particularly Cleveland, as more deserving of something like that.

Couldn't it have been moved to its own thread? Anyways, Oakwood Commons is going to be a massive failure, but there's nothing that you can do to stop it.

Cleveland: 2012 Democratic National Convention?
Obama owed us something for giving him the election in 2008. It's sad that he either didn't have enough pull, or didn't care enough, to deliver us the convention. He may think he has a shot at NC in 2012 (he doesn't), but he can forget about Ohio now...

Cleveland Guardians Discussion
I don't know if they're going to play ball today, but if they do, I don't expect the crowd to be very good. Last night's was over 16,000, which isn't bad, but I'd love to see more...

Cleveland sports talk radio
Goldhammer and Fedor on the same show is redundant. I can't stand The Really Big Show with those two.

Crap, well, you can't win 'em all I guess. Another good outing by one of our starters though... Gotta get back on track tomorrow with the O's in town.

Went to the game last night, good times. I'm really going to miss Joe Tait.

Cleveland sports talk radio
My theory on why they were winning is that they were scoring more runs than their opponents. Exactly! :-D Is it sad that my first reaction is that I wish that Cleveland sports talk radio was capable of this level of logic???? Oh come on, Regghi and Roda are pretty good, don't you agree?

Carmona pitched well, Haren simply pitched better. But if you're going to lose, it's still great to have Fausto giving you another strong outing against a good lineup.

Cleveland: League Park
What an awesome idea for CSU to play home games at League Park. I've never understood the idea of playing games in Lorain County anyways. LP is a straight shot about 45 blocks down Chester from CSU. Make it happen, Cleveland!

By the way, the Indians are on pace for 120 wins. When they hit that mark, it will be a new MLB single-season record for wins. ;)

Cleveland Guardians Discussion
I was pretty happy when they got Masterson and I've always remained optimistic that he would develop into a quality 2nd/3rd type starter. Clay Bucholz was the other possibility in that trade and they weren't able to pry him away from Beantown, so the worse he does and the better Masterson does, the happier I'll be. At this point, I'm most worried about the haul of players they got from Philly for Lee. I really wish they'd traded him to New York and they got Hughes like some sources were saying as a possibility. I think this team has done pretty well with the big trades they've made in the past few years, but I think they could have done better. A rotation of headed by Carmona, Bucholz, and Hughes would truly make this team a contender right now. Oh well...

SB5 Bill and Repeal News
Apparently we're interpreting that much differently. At the very least I hope we can agree that it doesn't nearly offer the same level of sovereignty that the U.S. Constitution offers the states. Here's another can of worms I'll open: As I mentioned above, I'm fairly certain that municipalities operate at the will of the state, meaning they can be dissolved, combined, etc. as the state decides. Well, if I'm wrong about that, I'm certain someone on this board will know for sure. But I do know that that is definitely the case for school districts.

SB5 Bill and Repeal News
By no means am I in favor of this bill, but for the record, political subdivisions (cities and school districts) in Ohio exist at the pleasure of the state. There is no city or school district sovereignty. The state can and does tell these subdivisions what they are allowed to do. It's not at all like the system that (in theory supposedly) exists between the Federal government and states.

Baseball playoff system is a crapshoot and no indicator of parity. If you want a better evaluation of just how important money is to baseball, look at the teams that consistently qualify for the playoffs.

SB5 Bill and Repeal News
Of course it will. But will it be more or less of a problem than teachers who currently keep their jobs over younger counterparts based on seniority despite lack of effort/enthusiasm/creativity in their daily approach? That's the real question. It's only going to get worse, regardless of the age of the teacher in question. Even more so now the younger ones with enthusiasm and creativity (which is already stifled by standardized testing) are going to be forced to mind-numbingly engage their students in almost pointless rote learning. This bill is an absolute slap in the face to teachers, firefighters, and police officers.

Cleveland: Cleveland State University: Development and News
That's exactly the problem. Things on campus don't stay open late because after classes, most students are heading back to their homes off-campus, oftentimes in the suburbs. If/when more students start living on campus, you'll see campus buildings and nearby businesses staying open later.

The Ohio State University Buckeyes Basketball Discussion
The MLB lets in too many teams for the length of the regular season. There's no point in playing 162 games if you're just going to regularly allow teams with win-loss disparities of 10+ games off of the best team in the league into the postseason tournament. Except for the one-game playoff that was used to determine the pennant winner, the system used pre-1994 was much truer. Oh, and yes, Sullinger will be returning . Or, at the very least, he's said as much multiple times in separate outlets. We've heard that before from folks that have later reneged, but I feel confident that Sully will be true to his word. Buford says he's returning, too. Now where's our thread for UD basketball and its uncertain future? ;)
