I actually think MLB's playoff series are way too short. I'd like to see at least a best-of-nine, optimally a best-of-eleven. Also, I don't think any more than four teams should make the postseason. These changes would better determine a "true" champion for the game, but they'd be very fan unfriendly. Oh well...

No, I don't realize that. Just like you don't realize that there are also a lot of other people, a larger chunk than the Orthodox Jews, who live here but use private schools because the local public schools are not a viable option for them.

Call it whatever you want, but the point is that Cleveland Heights has and continues to enact pie-in-sky policies, while University Heights never gets involved in that kind of stuff. The cities, whether you or anyone else likes it or not, are different. UH is not some extension of CH, and quite frankly, as a citizen of UH, I'm sicking of people assuming that the cities are the same and should be merged.

The History Channel had a show called "Apocalypse Man" where they had some guy walking around an abandoned city in a hypothetical post-apocalypse situation. The show was filmed in Detroit and I couldn't believe just how empty parts of it was.

Well, as long as Cleveland Heights continues to engage in their misguided and failed social engineering projects, then the answer to that question is "yes." If you were to propose a merger (anschluss is a better word) with CH to UH residents, it would fail miserably. Just because the two cities share a school district doesn't mean that they're identical. Most UH residents want nothing to do with CH, as evidenced by the fact that UH residents use private schools at a higher percentage than any other suburb in the region. If UH should be merged with any city, it should be either Shaker Heights or Beachwood. UH has more in common with those cities than it does with CH. Additionally, the western suburban examples you cited are all more similar to each other than CH and UH.

Not to shoot the messenger, but I think that's a double-standard and a BS response--especially when the law was ridiculous to begin with.

Then why even make us a finalist? Why were we a finalist for the 2008 Republican convention? Obviously I don't know the logistics as well as some of you guys, but I think there must be a reason (like using Akron area hotels) that we've made it this far twice.

Congrats to Reds fans on winning the division. Nothing like watching your favorite team playing October baseball. I agree entirely. The Phillies are on fire and I think they're going to win the NL regardless, but if you're the Reds, I think you'd rather face them in the NLCS than have to see their great rotation in a short series.

Yes, but I feel confident in saying that the the largest chunk of troubled area, by far, is within the city limits. Which is why when taking the entire region into account, we look MUCH better, and why, when Cleveland proper only is used for these lists, we look terrible.

It looks like Lee Fisher is toast. He's down double-digits in just about every poll that has been taken in the past week or two.

Isn't it amazing at how we fare on these lists when the entire metropolitan area is taken into account, and not just the troubled part of the region that is actually within the city limits?
