  1. Reasoning? They don't have a stadium and because it's an expensive sport, even if non-scholarship. It will lose money and I just don't think the University benefits all that much from it. Interesting as for most schools the football program is one of the few athletic activities that earn money. Apparently, all the sports would become non-scholarship and they would eventually raise tuition to help pay for it. It's supposed to take $10 million to start up and the team would be non-scholarship. I do not think it would be a bad idea for CSU to have a football team, seeing as it might bring more students (as well as parents, family, friends, close relatives, etc) into the Cleveland area and to support the school. Cleveland State is very underrated and while it may not be the best, they are really trying to renovate the area to make it more residential. Now, with the new dorms coming up, they are heading towards that direction. If more people came to CSU and they did start up a football team, it could bring a lot of PR to the downtown area. I attend CSU now and I see how little the CSU and surrounding community supports the sport team... maybe this will be the deal breaker to bring more people downtown? Or not. But, it's definitely not something that is being put on the back burner by Pres. Berkman.

You should really drive down there and see for yourself. While there are things that may turn you away from visiting the area (homeless shelters, rundown buildings, homeless people, etc), the area is still nice. There are a lot of other buildings that make the area stand out and appealing to those down there. I agree with urbanforever when they state, There is so much potential to the area and if you have never been, then again, I suggest you go visit. You never know what amazing thing(s) you may find! :)
  3. Also, has anyone else read up on the possibility of a CSU football team? What do you think about this? http://www.cleveland.com/sports/csu/index.ssf/2010/04/cleveland_state_students_want.html
  4. Earth to U. Farmers Market Re-opens at CSU on Thursday, May 13 If you haven't ever had the chance to check this out, CSU just recently started opening up a Farmer's Market which allows the residents of Cleveland to buy Ohio grown produce on Thursdays! I've been there before and there are so many great options and a lot of people! There's even some days which have music entertainment! So, if you are ever near CSU and want to come visit, please do so! The link below is an article that provides more information about the farmer's market. It's on Thursday from 10:30a to 1:30p and runs through October 2nd! http://www.csuohio.edu/news/releases/2010/04/14814.html
  5. Glad you posted this! I was just about to ask if this is going to go one this year as well! So glad to know that it will be & hopefully I will be able to talk them all :)
  6. True! I live right down the street from the construction site and although it is a bit bumpy, the road was definitely ready in a very short amount of time. It would just be nice to see them making a better effort to patch up these holes. I feel as if they are never going to come up with a "permanent fix" with the way things are going.

It would be nice if there was a separate bike path for the Innerbelt because as much as I like to view the city, sometimes I would like to take a shorter way. I haven't heard anything about a separate path, but it would be a great investment in m opinion!!!
  8. Where is Koko located? I love bubble tea and I haven't found a place to get some in such a long time! There's a lot of bubble tea places to get bubble tea, but I swear by my Koko! Wider flavor assortment and homemade tapioca pearls :) They're located at Payne Ave. and E. 38th ... and definitely worth a visit! At one point, there was also a bubble tea cafe in the same complex as Superior Pho (Superior and E. 32), but alas, bubble tea alone does not a successful business make. I never knew there was one so close! I live right around the corner from there. I'm such a dork! Haha. I am definitely going to check that place out! Thanks for the info :) :) :)

  10. But why have them fill it when it's just going to come out again? We need a more permanent fix, not something that may last until next summer. I am over all the construction and repairs that they have to keep making to the Euclid Corridor.... :(

If no one has had the chance to see this, I would just like to share it with everyone! Someone sent me this video and I felt that it needed to be passed around. Enjoy :)
  12. I can't make it because I work until 10pm but I will definitely try to give them a call soon to see how I can get involved! Thank you for the information!!
  13. I don't visit Shaker often, but I would definitely love to see how this turns out. I think that it's great that a city wants to "return to it's roots" and bring back more of a historical sense than to build more houses, apartments buildings, etc. I think this will be a wonderful addition to Shaker :)
  14. Thank you for clearing that up. But what about all of the places where chunks of concrete are missing from the joints along the entire corrider? The chunks are lying on the side of the road. Clearly when you ride your bicycle around in the bike lanes you have to constantly swerve and weave around the holes and rocks to be safe. But from what I heard, there was a chemical place in the cement that is making it fall apart. I don't know how much of that is true but the fact that the roads are as bad as they are for being so new makes me avoid riding in the bike lanes down Euclid :(
  15. I was there recently as well and I agree. I really hope this can get started up again because I would love to participate! I don't want to see it looking badly when there are so many people willing to clean it up!
  16. I cannot wait for the Bodies exhibit to open! I saw the Body Works 2 exhibit when it was at the GLSC and I enjoyed it so much! It was such an interesting and educational exhibit! I am excited to see how it turns out and to see how the exhibit will bring more people into downtown and to enjoy all it has to offer!

Great, great photos! I go to Pittsburgh a few times a year and every time I go, I fall in love over again! Thanks for sharing these photos :)

I believe shes a transplant to Cleveland. Look for her riding her bike around downtown at 3AM... Haha :) Thanks guys! I live in downtown Cleveland but I don't ride my bike at 3am. Mostly on the weekends and during the day. I can be seen wearing a brown Timberland book bag if anyone is interested in joining me for a bike ride!! :)

    :)
  20. Does anyone know when Zoup is opening up downtown?
  21. I've just decided to wait until the Cleveland Heights one is open to see about Lakewood. My ex-boyfriend and I would always get our sandwiches to go because the wait was so long. We would call an hour in advance to get a sandwich. It's a bit sad, considering I would love to sit down and enjoy my meal versus taking it home every time. But, maybe once the CH one is open, the wait time for each will be better and allow more people to enjoy their meals? I didn't know that the Lakewood kitchen could only make so many though. :| Oh well! I guess we'll just have to see what happens come May 21st!
  22. I agree, if he takes his business out of the city, it would take away from the all the people who do take the time to travel up to the Cleveland area and it would be nice if there was a Melt downtown... but then I would probably go broke from eating there all the time :)

I don't think they are but with CSU, anything is possible, especially since they are trying to get more students to live on campus. As of right now, once they get the new dorms built, they are supposed to tear down Viking Hall and build another set of dorms. But if they keep trying to buy out apartment buildings, they are going to push other potential residents out of downtown.

Wendy park...? Can I ask where that's at? I'm always up for exploring new places!
  25. I'm just interested to see how everything will come together and to know, exactly, what type of museum this is slated to be? I also think that if it's going to be a museum, they should market it now. I would love to see people becoming more interested in the downtown area and with museums!
