Careful. A good friend of mine was one of the principals in suggesting the northern route which would be faster, more direct, require less demolition, and cost less than building 220 mph HSR on the coast while serving a larger population base. And the regional service would remain on the coast. OK moving on.... I liked the Long Island route , it was straight and serviced 6 Million , compared to this 3 million serviced route. It would also use existing ROW and Interstate medians....the bad part is the 20 mile underwater tunnel under the Sound.... But alot of Long Islanders go up to New England for employment , school and recreation ...choking the roads , Ferries , and Railways.... So hopefully the LI route goes through....instead of the CT route which is also more hilly...

The Second phase of the Rail link will not happen till the 2030s , but phase 1 Hillburn - Tarrytown might happen later this decade. Phase 2 requires a mostly tunnel solution , so the County is recommending BRT go first and then finish the CRT phase 2 later. Both the Full build CRT and BRT will attract over 200,000 new riders and add an estimated 6-9,000 New commuters to every intersecting line. The I-287 Corridors holds an estimated 400,000 jobs , Downtown White Plains grows by 50,000 alone in weekday workforce... Bus Ridership is also expected to double when the project is completed , which means 200,000+ ppl could be using Westchester's Bee Line bus service. There are also plans for a few more stations in Westchester along the New Haven and Hudson lines. As for the Next Gen HSR , i have no idea what is going on....they have angered just about every city in the NE with that ridiculous northern route.

Indeed it is , all of Westchester's Cities are built around Transit , even the towns are built around the RR's... Future wise the County is building sidewalks on all roads and streets by 2025 they really want to reduce car dependency....and cities like WP's and Yonkers are at the forefront of the that county wide push...

White Plains always looked like this in a way , but in the 80s they redid it and built it up.....

I'm doing Ho-Ho-Kus street by street slowly , Netcong is not much of a town and Moonachie is mostly industrial

2 Routes under Downtown , and under neighboring towns Downtown areas.... The First phase would not include White Plains , they want to get the Stewart Airport link and GTC connection to West of the Hudson up and running. The Second Phase will run from the Tappan Zee to Port Chester.

You can request any City or town along a Railway line in the NYC and Philly region , i will get around to doing it between August and Mid 2012. I won't accept any requests for Bergen , Passaic , or Rockland counties , i'm slowly doing those with my new project. The outer areas of NYC region or Philly region will be done last , but i will try to do all your requested towns or neighborhoods.... Up coming cities and towns that i will be doing... , keep in mind i can easily add on NYC to any of the trips below. Mount Vernon / Pelham South Orange Montclair Red Bank / Long Branch Tarrytown / Sleepy Hollow South Amboy / Perth Amboy Cities that i won't due to Safety reasons , at least without a car....but probably won't be done anyway. Replies : KJP : the Deserted Street in Question or Hamilton Street , has no retail or restaurants those its mostly empty. Most of the people who live or work in WP can be found on the busy streets like Main street , Mamaroneck Ave , East Post Road , or Martine Ave. Slowly but surely the core is being filled up , and Hamilton Ave is getting alot of Developments. All the Suburban type office space and low density developments that line half the street will be demolished to make way for the 'Grand Central" Sized 7 block development and New train station. Starting in the late 80s , they decided to transform most of them into Mini-NYC's and so far WP's has seceded with that. The most recent Google Maps Satilite photo was taken in the summer of 2010. All the open parking lots will be gone by 2025 , most will be merged into garages.. Any New large scale store in Downtown must have garages and limited to one block or less. The Wal Mart is half a block , but 3 stories.....the Garage is another 6 stories.... I beleave the WP's Wal Mart was one of the first Urban Wal Marts in the Country , DC and Philly have some planned...similar look to WP. Eighth and State : Yea the parking lots of Wal Marts and other super chains are a turn off....they take up so much space that can be used for other things.... I wouldn't say that , although by the end of the decade 8 more high rises and skyscrapers are planned for the core. And the City should still be below 100,000.
