Downtown White Plains & MNRR Harlem line
Replies.... NorthAndre : We have at least 40 of them in the NYC Region... GCrites80s : It does to a certain extent although it is very tiny... HHS78 : Its hidden form the Highways , except the Bronx River Parkway , its a unique city. I usually go hiking in Northern Westchester County , then go eat and shop in White Plains. Robert Pence : This is NY state though , not NJ. But WP is similar to New Brunswick,

Downtown White Plains & MNRR Harlem line
Ive noticed a TOD explosion along every line and in every town. Sprawly downtowns are disappearing as Dense 2 Story apartments are built..... There isn't a sprawly town along my line anymore and this was all done over the past 10 years. In this picture of WP ive found , you can see WP and New Rochelle in the distance. NR is doing what WP did... HPN - White Plains looking a little brown by TerminalMan, on Flickr

Downtown White Plains & MNRR Harlem line
So i went to Downtown White Plains,NY back in November and took a bunch of photos....I also took a MNRR Harlem video on the way back through Westchester County , The Bronx and Manhattan. I was last in White Plains back in the Summer of 08 and must say it has changed , there are less parking lots and more buildings. On warmer days the city is usually more crowded , the day i went it was abit chilly. For a City of 58,000+ it sure has alot of Diversity in the architectural and cultural dept. The City has 2 Train stations ,and busy regional airport nearby. A New East - West Railway will cut through the heart of Downtown all stations will be underground. The city has 2 Parkways and 2 Interstates , and numerous busy roads. By 2020 all the surface parking lots should be developed on with either High Rises or low rise retail / apartments. The City has Numerous parks and is planning a bike lane system... 1. DSC01479 by Nexis4Jersey09, on Flickr 2. DSC01478 by Nexis4Jersey09, on Flickr 3. DSC01482 by Nexis4Jersey09, on Flickr 4. Harrison,NJ Twilight - Daytime - Chilly Harrison
Replies> natininja , Its a great idea , but Money and Terrain will be a major hurdle. The Tunnel would have to dip very deep under the Passaic River and probably be cut and cover in the Ironbound. The Current plan is to rip up the Street and put tracks in and build a new Bridge for the Streetcar across the Passaic... BUCKEYE54 , Ive heard that rumor.....don't know what to make of it. I know once the Nets leave we might get a new team.... I think i might do Rahway or White Plains next....

Replies > HHS78 , Yup every part of Urban Jersey is seeing a redevelopment of there older Industrial areas... Irvington is still in the pits , however the Oranges are coming back ever so slowly.... Not like Harrison , but more like a cleaned up Downtown and restored apartments. All the Railway towns are doing better then the non Railway towns... natininja, Half the people going to the games afterwards go to The Ironbound section of Newark which right across the Passaic River Bridge. Half of the games attendance is form the Spanish / Portuguese section of Newark..... Theres no room in the outer boroughs to build a staduim like this , so of course its in NJ , however the team should be called the "Newark" or "Harrison" Red Bulls. But the same is happening in Chester,PA at there new arena.... As for the LRT system.... There is a proposal gaining traction to use the Old NS Boonton line for Light Rail proposes. It would run form Hoboken to Journal SQ , then along the Old Boonton line through the Meadowlands to Kearny , Belleville and North Newark connecting into the Newark Light Rail. 95% of the Route would use old ROW , the Jersey City part would serve a dense part of Journal SQ which is being redeveloped into the Next Midtown Manhattan. The Meadowlands part would have a stop at Laurel Hill State Park and there would be 2 stops in Kearny and Belleville. Another line would run form Newark to Paterson along some old ROW and intersect in Belleville the Old Boonton line.... The Old Boonton line is gaining traction due to the fact that the PATH is over capacity and theres not much you can do about it.... Theres also a plan to build a streetcar form Newark Penn station to Harrison and Kearny. So there is alot planned and in proposal..... Harrison.....last Thursday.... Harrison,NJ Twilight - Daytime - Chilly Harrison
Replies> DJ Orion , yes it would be built near the I280 Interchange , were the Morristown line goes for 3 tracks to 2 tracks. That third track will be rebuilt to the Passaic River Bridge and the station will span form Warren Street to Harrison Ave. It would serve older Harrison , when the New Developments are completed they will be served by the PATH station which is being rebuilt form the ground up. This restored Morristown line station will make the trip to Hoboken or Midtown faster , although slightly more expensive. NJT 4.50$ vs 1.75$ PATH .... ColDayMan The Project should have been halfway done by now but the recession halted that , but its back on track....there doing it in 2 block phases... But by 2025 all the Warehouses in Harrison should be replaced by Luxury Housing , Retail space and Hotels.... It would become a New Hoboken... Newark is starting to do the same in the eastern ward , so this area will be interesting 10-15 years form now. natininja In what way , they have programs with the local schools and colleges use there stadium.... It seems every since they redid there station things have been better there. Linden looks the same way. NJ has a tale of 2 cities problem , the bad side is shown form the highways and the good form the Railways. The Problem is that most of the state takes the highways.... ~Corey
