  1. Yep. My Grandfather grew up on Mohawk on the 30's, and his grandfather lived in the "rear" house which faced the alley. Love that picture by the way; never seen it before. I really wish that massive staircase between McMicken and Clifton (just to the right of the Metal Blast building) was still there. The bottom 6 feet is still visible on McMicken, but that's about it.
  2. Just saw a Bird scooter at 6th and Race a few minutes ago. Maybe I missed the news, but I guess these have arrived in Cincinnati as well.
  3. The renderings and site plan for the new mixed use building on Howell Avenue were revealed at a meeting on April 30th. Current plans call for 130 units. https://www.cincinnati-oh.gov/planning/assets/File/Howell%20Development_2018-04-30.pdf
  4. Could be a good opportunity for commuter rail along that corridor.
  5. These three are finally on the ground. They stopped and started demo a couple different times.
  6. ^ What about the areas around the new MLK interchange? Close to downtown, brand new highway infrastructure, and proximity to UC and Xavier.
  7. ^ Wow, someone actually posted that online? What a poorly written statement.
  8. We live across from SCPA and have a nice flat roof with no shade. I've thought many times that solar panels would be great, but the economics of it are still just out of range. Hopefully (even with Trump as President), this will change in the next few years. Oh yeah, solar is still a little out of reach for most homeowners. I'd love to see the city lead the charge with buildings they own, such as SCPA. Even the Mercer Commons garage could get solar panels similar to what the Zoo did with their parking lot.
  9. ^ Every time I see pictures of these flat roofs that aren't visible from the street (SCPA for example), the more I realize how big of an opportunity solar panel installation could be.
  10. Looks like this one's gone as of this morning: https://www.google.com/maps/@39.1423641,-84.5083097,3a,75y,187.07h,86.05t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sL3ZMxqrpRfTxFtzkOzG0WQ!2e0!7i13312!8i6656!6m1!1e1
  11. What about that one on Mulberry? They just repainted it and have been renovating it slowly. EDIT: It's that one on E Clifton. Whoops!
  12. They've started demolition on two of these three on Vine: https://www.google.com/maps/@39.1542621,-84.5065343,3a,75y,91h,92.64t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sbk2pz3HG7VGZiQicsDZ3vg!2e0!7i13312!8i6656?hl=en
  13. ^ A few years back Elmwood wanted to merge with St. Bernard, which (probably wisely, IMO) turned that idea down. I'll be really curious to see what happens with Norwood.
  14. Trump family hotel coming to Cincinnati? Source: http://www.wcpo.com/news/transportation-development/development/trump-family-hotel-coming-to-cincinnati
  15. ^ Looks pretty much the same to me. It's on page 59 of the packet. My question is, what happens to the second tower across the street in the vacant lot next to the Deskey building?
  16. Thankfully the Library and Out-R-Inn are still there and going strong. I do the Cancer Crawl every year and this year they are offering a second crawl in the Short North due to the lack of bars on campus now.
  17. I was at the airport on Monday and someone at CVG said it will be a hub and they'll be rebuilding a terminal for them. Not sure how accurate of a statement that is but I can't wait for the official announcement!

  19. ^ I agree it does look nice. Unfortunately, the wider sidewalks eliminated the street parking, which resulted in the demolition of a few nice buildings for a small parking lot.
  20. Agreed. Kunst is German for "Art" but the second part makes no sense. Maybe they misspelled "Haus"?
  21. ^ Just in time for the 2020 census. I'm really curious to see the Downtown/Over-the-Rhine population figures once all these projects are complete.
  22. I'm really going to miss Toos, Chumley's, the O, and Mama's. I even went back last month to get my last tidal wave shot on film, haha.
  23. I think the place caught fire a few weeks back. I saw several fire trucks out front and now there's a sign on the window that says closed for remodeling.
  24. ^ They've been SLOWLY working on it for over a year now with not much to show for it. The building still reeks when I walk by.
  25. Oh ok, thanks. For some reason I thought the building to the right was taller than it is.
