  1. Will the section of track along the Central Parkway median be protected from traffic in any way? Seems like a perfect opportunity to do so since there's no parking lane on the other side of the tracks.
  2. I like this idea. The only issue I could forsee is that the tunnels were built with third rail electrification in mind. Is there enough vertical clearance in the tunnel for a streetcar using overhead catenary?
  3. A few of my thoughts on future extensions/system expansion: 1. I really think that after we start extending the streetcar into uptown and beyond, we need to stop thinking about the routes in terms of "loops" and "spurs." We should try to build rail lines that work together to form an efficient system, the same way a metro system would. This would make it a lot easier for someone looking at a map to figure out where they're going. 2. I am fine with the route currently being built, as it covers a lot of downtown and connects most of our major downtown attractions. However, I hope that any future extensions are built on two way streets where both directions run next to each other. The streetcar tracks could run in the center two lanes, in grassy medians, or next to the curb on either side of the street. 3. Once we start building light rail to connect to the inner-ring and outer suburbs, I think we should try to keep it as grade separated as possible. I just don't like the idea of longer trains running in mixed traffic, especially downtown/Over-the-Rhine. This would increase speeds and reduce congestion on the streets. The light rail lines could use the same or similar articulated rolling stock as the streetcar, and would all converge in the subway tunnel under Central Parkway or the Riverfront Transit Center.
  4. I've been keeping an Excel spreadsheet with all of the new development projects Cincinnati, plus Covington and Newport. It includes all projects completed since 2010, under construction, and planned projects. For Cincinnati + Covington + Newport since 2010: Apartments: 7,545 Condos: 733 Hotel Rooms: 2,607
  5. Awesome news! 4th street is on a roll.
  6. Looks like steel is now above street level.
  7. There's a restaurant in the works for the old Boca location in Oakley as well.
  8. I posted a couple. Here they are again: Render by Jmicha
  9. There was an article in the Enquirer not long ago that said the developer of the Federal Reserve building was looking to convert the Ingall's building to residential as well. This could be great news!
  10. Terrible..
  11. Fantastic news!!! It'd be nice if the 2nd phase of the Banks is done by then too.
  12. Great news! How many streetcars did we order? I can't remember if it was supposed to be 5 or 6. Also, any word on the color scheme?
  13. Engineering firm to move HQ to downtown Cincinnati http://www.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/news/2012/12/17/engineering-firm-to-move-hq-to.html
  14. Does anyone know how much the rhinehaus renovation costs? I'm just curious how much renovating this size of a building costs. I would love to do something similar some day.
  15. HangOver Easy is awesome. Good food and a cool atmosphere. I am beyond stoked thay are coming to Cincy!
  16. I guess it's safe to say construction won't be getting under way this month like it was supposed to... :-(
  17. ^ That's what I was thinking, but it looks like a mirror image of Phase 1, so I just assumed it was office space too. Thanks for the clarification.
  18. So is that tall building at 2nd and Vine another office building? If so, will we have to wait for a tennant before that part gets built? I know the article says phase 2 is all one building, but how will that work?
  19. I think the office building is supposed to be at the corner of Vine and 2nd Street. So your first picture is looking directly at the corner of 2nd and Race. It looks like the truck docks are on Race Street.
  20. ^ Especially when that info is over a month old. A lot of progress could have been, and probably was made during September. Construction is supposed to start this month. Looking forward to the renderings!
  21. If that is a legit rendering, then that should be well over the planned 300 residential units, correct?
  22. ^No. The crane is on Woodruff Ave. where Boyd Lab used to be. They are building a new chemical engineering building there.
  23. Yeah, it was a beautiful house. We were all sad to see it go. We went through the rubble to try to get the little spire from the roof, but the roof had already been stripped prior to demolition.
  24. I wish I knew the answer to that as well. My family was the original owners of the house, so that's how I got the picture.
