  1. Drove down Vine in St. Bernard today. 4232 Vine and 4280 were demolished. Here's an old picture of 4232 Vine:
  2. Is that plan in St. Bernard an actual proposal or a UC project? It's pretty ambitious. Also, do you know which houses have been torn down?

Awesome. I'll have to check it out next time I'm in town. Thanks for the info! On another note, what is that large building to the left and behind of Philippus in that first pic?

No, I don't think I looked through that one. They had files by street, but there weren't any Mohawk pics. Is the Ransohoff collection online or at the museum center?

Thanks for the help guys. The house I've been looking for is 260 Mohawk, which was torn down in the 60s I believe. That's where several of my family members grew up. I have been to the museum center to look at their photos, but couldn't to find any. I will keep looking!

Wow. Those pictures are amazing. Thanks for sharing! On another note, I have been trying to find pre-1960 pictures of Mohawk Street for quite some time. Does anyone know where I might be able to find some?
  7. Buffett's 'Margaritaville' finds new home at Horseshoe Casino http://www.fox19.com/story/19184006/buffetts-margaritaville-restaurant-to-open-in-cincy-casino
  8. ^Nice pics! By the way, I'm not sure if this has been posted yet, but the Banks website is saying that phase 2 construction will begin in the 4th quarter of 2012. http://thebankscincy.com/development-opportunities/phase-two.aspx
  9. Here's a couple videos of the lofts: They're basically the same, but there is some different photos in them.
  10. I am confused about this as well. The day this was announced, Fox 19 played a clip of Chad Munitz (3CDC) saying that the separate components would be stacked if they could find a way to allow Dunnhumby to expand later if they needed to. He said not to expect a tower much more than 30 stories, but it would be close to that. I guess we'll just have to wait for the renderings.
  11. Dont you think it would be more the height of the Hilton, Millenium or Lytle Place. All those places are 30 stories. This is going to be a residential tower so the floor plates are not going to be as high right? 30 stories in office is much different than hotel, apartment Yeah, I think the building in my picture is too tall. It's also on the wrong side of the lot. I think JYP's model is more accurate.
  12. Someone posted this massing over at the SSP forum, so I thought I'd repost it here. I think it looks a little tall, but it does a decent job showing how the new building will fit in the skyline. Hopefully this project will put some pressure on Western & Southern to get their condo tower project underway. Can't wait for renderings!
  13. On page 3 of this CUF Neighborhood Association newsletter, it says the contract for work on Old St. George has been signed. I'm assuming this is for the hotel? http://www.cufna.org/Newsletter6_12.pdf
  14. Hey guys, I'm not sure if this fits in this thread, but I'm not sure where else to ask it. I post from time to time over on the city-data forum, and in the development thread today someone posted that her and her husband were in town recently, and were planning to buy the Metal Blast building and turn it into art and dance "studio spaces, art gallery, artist loft rentals, etc." She said the price to fix the building up was out of their price range, but they are still trying to find a similar building in OTR. Does anyone have any suggestions for comparable buildings in OTR that could fill this purpose? I think it would be great if something like this were to happen. Thanks!
  15. Just got an email today that the current apartments on Norwich will be re-leased for next year, so the Norwich building is at least a year from construction.
  16. Here is the spring update video: Smale Riverfront Park Spring 2012 Construction Update
  17. Have they ever considered using both union terminal and the riverfront transit center for commuter trains? For example, all the lines coming from the North would stop at union terminal and then cross over to the transit center, and then all the lines from the East side would run through the transit center and then over to union terminal. A lot of cities in Europe seem to do this. Dresden, for example has two main stations. The Hauptbahnhof serves both inter-city trains and s-bahn trains, while the Neustadt bahnhof is mostly s-bahn, but the same s-bahn lines run through both.
  18. Received information today that 236, 242-248, 250 & 262 W. Norwich Ave will be redeveloped this year or next. "Today we were informed by the owners of these properties that it appears at this time that we WILL NOT BE LEASING these properties for Fall of 2012 due to redevelopment of the area." Anyone know what they are planning for the area?
  19. Not sure if anyone answered you already-- but the maintenance yard is going to be between Elm & Race on Henry. I'm not sure what side of the street. Thanks for the reply. That seems like a logical spot. I look forward to following the construction with all of you!
  20. John said on the previous page they are looking at 7 different types, 2 of which require no overhead wire.
  21. The shelter looks great! Speaking of the cars, where will the storage/maintenance building be? Will it be a new building or a reused industrial building in OTR?
  22. I don't post on here very often, but I am a long time reader of this thread. I am very proud of Cincinnati for voting issue 48 down, and for electing so many pro-streetcar candidates to city council. I think it shows that the city is headed in the right direction, and is actually going to do something bold for a change. Cincinnati needs to compete with other cities, and although I think Cincinnati already stacks up quite well already, the streetcar will be a welcome addition. (and all of this coming from a republican from the suburbs!) So congratulations everyone, you all deserve it!!!
  23. A beautiful sight indeed!
  24. Those are amazing photos. It looks like a great urban neighborhood. It's a real shame we lost it :-( Just out of curiosity, were similar photo surveys ever done in OTR (Mohawk St for example)???
