  1. If he wanted to show some power, he'd start tearing the garage down around them and make the location as "undesirable" as possible! :)
  2. I'd rather see it moved further into the city somewhere.... maybe somewhere along Central Parkway / Ezzard Charles near Music Hall? I've always liked how the United Center in Chicago is located not directly in the city, but close.
  3. US Bank has been remodeled a few times, it seems like. I'm not sure that you're going to do a whole lot to fix the fact that it is simply not a modern arena. The concourses are very narrow and the seating layout is not really consistent with modern arenas, which tend to have steeper seating with multiple tiers to put the fans closer to the action/stage/whatever. US Bank is fine for its current uses, but I can't see it drawing major tenants even with another remodel.
  4. Although beating the Enquirer paywall is kind of like sneaking into DPNK....

I've never understood why these people are so obsessed with the idea of someone breaking into their house to the point where they're giddy at the idea of shooting an invader. Seems to me they're more likely to shoot a spouse or child than they are to shoot an actual invader. I'm pretty sure occupied home invasions are among the rarest of crimes...
  6. Sucks that they're tearing that place down, but between the road being too wide and FWW, Third St is just a terrible location to do almost anything. The city would be wise to expedite those caps and figure out a way to tie 3rd street to the banks somehow.
  7. Those advertisements are simultaneously horrible and awesome....

There's no need to learn to read music to play most styles on guitar... if you're just starting out, you'll should see a ton of progress for every hour you can dedicate. Learning songs by "decent" guitarists tended to be the most productive for me early on along with a good amount of reading up on theory and stuff in my copious high school spare time. What Jake said is a good place to start, although lead vs rhythm arguments are a deep deep rabbit hole that mostly depends on the musical style of any band you'd join. The biggest thing for a beginner is to spend ample time practicing to just getting your manual dexterity up and get used to the finger positions... and make sure you don't ignore using your pinky.

If you have to go to the supreme court to determine whether you have the right to lie, you just absolutely suck at life. While I guess the freedom of speech question is valid, it's amazing that an organization could be the plaintiff in such a case and still have people out there who think they have any credibility.
  10. Do any of the Skylines stay open late? The Chili Company never closed well, till they closed... The one in Clifton stays open til 2 or 3 most nights... most of the outlying ones (at least the ones I go to on the west side) stay open until midnight on weekdays and 1 on weekends.
  11. That's the real problem right there. A lot of people who'd like to go can't really afford to blow $100 on a ticket, myself included.
  12. La Rosa's should either scuttle or renovate their short vine location... it might be their worst franchise in the city. With the amount of decent pizza restaurants in the area, I don't know how they compete up there.
  13. As much as I hate to think about it, shutting Cranley away in Congress might be the best place for him. At least there he might be accountable to his political party, and if he want to play ball in his district, he's going to have to stay Democrat. It'd at least minimize the damage he'd cause on a local level.... That is, Unless he goes full-Chabot and starts railing against money being sent to his constituency.
  14. :-o If I weren't keenly aware of the levels of insanity in the suburban WLW crowd, I'd think that LTE was some form of internet-based abstract performance art....
  15. More near term, I think turning the corner and heading down Race will be a pretty important step... having not seen (in person) the progress since late October until last night, I was surprised how far up Elm they had made it before the pause.
  16. So is WLW melting down yet?
  17. They got (what they'd consider) a dream-team council elected, who STILL voted to keep the project going....
  18. I got a nagging feeling that "miraculously" they'll come up with 6 votes to continue, sparing Cranley the responsibility. This all just smells fishy. The cynic in me knows, though, that I'm an idiot and my silly optimism will be crushed by stark reality.
  19. So defaulting on contracts is what he means by "fiscal responsibility?" Nothing builds a credit rating like a few breach of contract lawsuits.
  20. Next week will really be interesting.... I'm guessing the signature drive will drop a petition off at city hall over the weekend, further backing Cranley et al into the corner...
  21. Heh... how's that supposed to work?
  22. Its definitely not a good sign for your administration when presumed allies are already jumping ship and you haven't even taken office yet.
  23. Hypothetically, if Cranley were to get elected and decide he couldn't stop the streetcar... could he complete it and deliberately tank the service or would there be enough pushback from local business to prevent it from being undermined by unfriendly politicians on council?
  24. Yeah, as a west-sider, its typically easier for me to either go out 275, down 75, or across the ferry. I'm not really sure where a convenient place to put such a bridge, aside from right over the ferry, and even then, it doesn't seem like there would be that much demand.
  25. Are they trying to re-theme that area of the park or something?
