  1. This all gives me very horrible flashbacks to the 2010 gubernatorial election.... who let this guy be a Democrat?
  2. Oh sorry.... I was thinking of the other terminals.... n/m
  3. I'm guessing that they're tearing it out because even if they needed the space, it would have to be entirely renovated... tearing it down at least clears the slate.
  4. The Angiulli's have some renderings of their vision of Short Vine (at least from charlton to corry) on the walls of Martino's... mostly looks like renovated buildings with decent streetscaping. Nothing as drastic as downing the whole block.... I'd love to see the old plaza and crummy parking garage go poof... it really kills the flow of that side of the street. The old La Rosa's on the other side needs to go too.... or at least get a makeover.
  5. Beats the parking lot....
  6. I see Mark McGuire is still lending his unique "wisdom" to the Cincinnati.com comment feeds...
  7. Wow.... :-o
  8. Sorry to stir up an old thread. I was just curious if anyone heard anything about the old flower stand or knows if it will ever come out of storage? Maybe they could put it to use during summer concerts, etc...
  9. Nothing says "preventing government waste" quite like selling tax funded equipment at half price!
  10. Insofar as it makes me sound like an old curmudgeon, I tend to agree with Jake's assessment of the music industry as it is right now. For as bad as music labels are, they did provide a filter that no longer exists for rock music. Musings on the present-day music culture aside, having a nice big music festival with big acts that normally don't come through town can only be a good thing for the city.
  11. I'd think they'd be lucky to have broken even this year, but I'd hope that its more of an investment and that they can keep doing it for a few years and bringing in bigger crowds and bigger acts. Creating a music festival can be done, it will take some persistence in Cincinnati, which has had a tough time drawing national acts over the past decade for a variety of reasons. But if Louisville can do it, I'd certainly hope that Cincinnati can, too. (just not on the same weekend next time)
  12. Had a lot of fun playing down there yesterday.... they really took good care of the bands behind the scenes and everything was really well organized.... hope they keep with it and make sure to schedule it on a better weekend next year.

... would be really a neat addition to the city and tie together 2 of Cincy's best entertainment options.
  14. Surely the city has some cards up their sleeve on this one?
  15. I don't mind delaying the project a bit to come up with funding, but to me it sounds like there's no clear cut plan as to where funding might come from so they're just assuming its someone else's problem... in 15 years... by which point the currently in-progress construction plan may no longer make sense, so they'll just have to start from scratch.
  16. Haha... thats the biggest bunch of pyschobabble nonsense.... our "forefathers" DID do this many times over. With this logic, the interstate system is communist... or how about ending slavery? Sounds communist to me. Breaking away from England? Communist. Communist is such an overused scare word that it means far less today than it even did in the 50s when we were busy dismantling our first commie streetcar. What does Clive Johnson from Franklin's opinion on a city issue even matter anyway, Gannett?
  17. Straight people benefit, as well.... but that's neither here nor there for the purpose of this conversation. Does anyone ever reply to these anti-streetcar editorials? Do they ever get published?
  18. That first one is absolutely asinine... its sad that people still think like that in the 21st century.
  19. Are Route 50's potholes really even Cincinnati's responsibility?
  20. Haha... classy. Just what we need.... more sports politics in this town.
  21. Somewhat off the current thread... I think pro-streetcar/rail supporters need to play the "such-and-such city has rail" card more often. Nothing would win support for light rail more than pointing out that Pittsburgh has successful light rail... we don't want to lose to Pittsburgh, do we? In all seriousness, Cincinnati tends to have some sort of second-rate complex where we view modern city improvements as stuff for New York, Chicago, LA.... but we're just little old Cincinnati, we can't compete.
  22. Doesn't he have shuffleboard to play or something?

Anyone have an inventory of what is left to be done on this?
  24. Is that a Minor Leagues reference???? If so, thanks for the shout out :)
  25. That was an interesting article.... but really why ARE there so many Elder/Seton cops on the CPD? That is quite a bit disproportional...
