  1. So forgive my ignorance, but I guess there's no limit on how many times a referendum (that is basically the same) can fail? If they get the signatures and pony up the cash to dig up the votes, they can do this ad-infinitum? If they put a strictly anti-streetcar measure on the ballot, it could pass midway through construction or some nonsense.... Basically, what is to keep me from making a ballot measure that says free beer on tuesdays at all bars within city limits... and get a bunch of signatures and put it up for a vote? :-)
  2. Easier to call people stupid in general, than admit defeat....
  3. .... ~50% of the cable installations between I74 and Rt4 are damaged and have not been repaired since well before my last post. 3 day repair time? I beg to differ. It has been 30+ days and counting.... if we're going to have these things, they've got to be maintained.
  4. Glad we put up all those cables.... now we have a bunch of eye sore busted cables in the middle of the road everywhere. I drive between i-74 and rt 4 every day and I'd say 50% of the cable linkages are destroyed at any given time and have been since they went up. What a complete waste of money.

The pretty much all look like that, which is pretty awesome. Beats Ameristop! Good to know that these are mostly a Cincy invention.

Ok.... I never thought about this before, but are Pony Keg stores unique to Cincinnati? I looked up the term to see if there were some history and was surprised to find very little information and the entire concept seems pretty localized to the Cincinnati area. Am I crazy?
  7. Just that quote alone is proof of his disconnect.... you shouldn't be "preventing" people from leaving.... you should be making them want to stay. Government can be seen as a business just like anything else.... you need to remain competitive w/ other governments to attract "customers".... and Ohio in general is NOT competitive at this point. People move and/or stay here begrudgingly, not enthusiastically.
  8. In case you guys haven't noticed, #ThingsJohnKasichFindsCool is absolutely hilarious on twitter right now That hash tag is a thing of beauty.
  9. The LV Monorail has the printed receipt/expiration time system... and it seems to work really well... I think the Deuce out there is the same way.... that definitely gets my vote...
  10. Not entirely convinced that a hotel and an ice rink is exactly what they need to stop the blight.... not really sure that anything is going to make that lot profitable.
  11. Meh.... Martinos is a Penguins bar.
  12. After what Cadillac Ranch pulled 2 years ago at Midpoint, the quicker they go out of business, the better. Anyway, on topic.... I hate Toby Keith, but this probably isn't as horrible an addition as it sounds on the surface.... I've glanced around at the one in Vegas and its not the worst thing I've ever seen... certainly its no worse than Planet Hollywood.
  13. Toby Keith??? Feh. Why can't we just get a Hard Rock Cafe in this city and be done with it?
  14. ^ That is somewhat reassuring... maybe *other* republican governors will take notice.
  15. I would like the word "boondoggle" eradicated. It seems like this annoying word is applied to every situation these days. Although, I'm not sure why COAST needs to have an agenda against a subway project that is long since canceled.
  16. All good points, but one thing..... he better learn why he needs to care about that which he doesn't, because a hell of a lot of people actually do...contrary to what the conservative owned mainstream boob media portrays. Not caring will cost us a whole new frontier of economic development in the green front. It may behoove him to start learning about "conserving" and using wisely and efficiently the very source that sustains his a!! and the economy, that without...would not exist. Wishful thinking.... politicians these days have no concept of "compromise" with views they disagree with. Its this stubbornness and inability to see both sides that keeps the country divided. Jimmy_James is correct, in order for this thing to have any chance, people must appeal to Kasich's conservative side and downplay the "liberal" arguments, for better or worse.
  17. By the time the first phase is done, we may have a whole new regime in place, so any discussion of further phases is largely irrelevant. Its key to get phase 1 construction started as soon as possible....
  18. No problem with that, Johio. Although it is humongous, I think it'd be hard to fit it indoors.
  19. Wow, it looks like a model from that picture.
  20. I don't know why anyone would care about that spinning clock. That thing is not very impressive, especially for something on the riverfront...
  21. Awesome... I'm sure this will stick in the Feds' minds next time Ohio comes asking for money... this guy is an idiot.
  22. If they can make that old plaza work, I'll be impressed.... its always been a horrid location.... nothing is really "on" Glenway, so most people don't even know what is up there.
  23. Oh jeez... what the heck is wrong with that building?!?
  24. Man, just imagine when Jimmy Buffet came to town..... oh the humanity...
  25. More FUD from the Enquirer, great.
