The Ohio State University Buckeyes Football Discussion
The Columbus media knows the situation better and the victim for what she is. The National media has a narrative to push and tries to fit the story into a box. They don't care about Courtney SMith, but rather how she fits into the national narrative. we don't all know the facts completely yet. I always revert back to a friend of mine who send pictures of her beaten by her boyfriend at the time to the police to have him arrested. Only, the time that those pictures were taken and the time that the abuse occurred he was no where near her and could not have done that. It was a desperate plea on her end to try and keep him. I am not saying CS was like this but, until all the facts are in, we should not just blindly assume victimhood or innocence.

The Ohio State University Buckeyes Football Discussion
Except and maybe think about it like this. Urban knew Courtney for over 15 years. He saw her as 100 different ways of crazy. Yes, she was a victim of a bad marriage to a bad individual, but to everyone around her, - OSU Athletic Depart, coaches, coaches wives, Powell Police, Her own mother, she had no credibility. The media who only knew her for a couple weeks and really does not really know her beyond trying to spin a narrative has made her into a victim above reproach. They are using her for a narrative. If you knew someone like Courtney on a personal level like Urban would have and recognize her lack of credibility, would you really be sorry toward her? I would doubt it, which is why he acted the way he did and why I have no problem with it.

Impressive that LA really has not sprawled that much in the last 25 years

Cincinnati: Downtown: Fourth & Race (Pogue Garage) Redevelopment
^ That does not have much to do with the development market. It plays a role but that is really not the reason why.

Columbus Crew Discussion
After what happened Wednesday, while the ATX deal is not completely done or official, I do think that the odds of the Crew staying are looking less and less each day. The Modell rule is a longshot at best and the best that would likely come from it is not necessarily saying the team cant move because of the law but just acting as an additional roadblock to clear which could ultimately frustrate the ownership into selling.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Fourth & Race (Pogue Garage) Redevelopment
^ Fortunately, Cincinnati is nowhere near as overbuilt as Columbus is getting. Talking to lenders up there, things are getting put on hold and there are some developers who will be taking a bath on some properties too.

So are they going to be where the Dinosaurs Alive exhibit is? it seems as if that exhibit has run its course

Cincinnati: Downtown: Fourth & Race (Pogue Garage) Redevelopment
I hope it is not something where the garage gets completed and then the apartments never get started (at least for another decade) because of changing market conditions. I was talking with a large lender from Columbus and he was saying how the apartment market in Columbus is getting very overbuilt and there is starting to be a huge pullback amongst some of the local lenders.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
I don't think NFL teams "earn" certain schedules based on their prior year's performance. They rotate which divisions in each conference they play. It's easily the best QB room the Browns have had since the savvy veteran Gary Danielson and exciting rookie Bernie Kosar joined Paul McDonald in the QB room of 1985. I was excited then and I'm excited now, but we had an awesome defense then, a very capable head coach and a tremendous running game. What we lacked were quality receivers. We had a hall of fame TE in Ozzie Newsome and a very young Brian Brennan. This year's WRs are much better, the TE group is pretty good, so are the RBs (need to remember how to run-block though), the coach isn't as good but the offensive coordinator Haley is better than Joe Pendry was, but I'm not yet sure how this defense is. There's some very talented people there, to be sure. But they're so young and so new to this team that I have no idea what we've got yet on defense. There is a slight variation in schedule based on prior year performance. 16 games you play your division teams twice for 6 games. You then play 4 games against an NFC Division and then 4 games against another AFC division, both or which rotate annually. That leaves the final 2 games against AFC foes which is determined by the prior year schedule. Since the AFC North plays the AFC West this year, the Browns, who finished last in the North will then match up against the 4th place AFC East Team and 4th Place AFC South team (I believe it would be the Jets and Colts) whereas the Steelers who won the division will play the first place teams from those divisions (Patriots and Jacksonville)

Solutions for Homelessness
^ I get the inference, but cheaper construction costs do not necessarily mean more affordable housing. It will play role but a cheaper box and be outfitted with a lot of bells and whistles to not make it affordable. If you are trying to build affordable housing it could be an option, but there is no guarantee and secondly, it does not take into account land costs, etc that often drive up the cost of the project

Solutions for Homelessness
I missed it in the article, but I did not see anything about low income housing or affordable housing with these units?

Cincinnati's Homeless Population
It is an example where HUD regs conflict with state law and in some cases federal law. This is what leads to lawsuits because you have landlords trying to follow 3 different laws in conflict with each other in many cases. In some cases the Fed law and HUD rules are in direct conflict with each other and some law firms use this to exploit the issue.

Columbus Crew Discussion
^ I know, I know. I always associate ATL with Atlanta too, which is probably why when I see ATX, I naturally think ATL. When I think Austin, I think AUS would be more fitting or even ATN.

Technically no, if it is a controlled substance owners of private property have a duty to report it or they may be subject to fines. This is often easier said than done and hard to enforce but technically it is the law. For example, in apartments, if your tenant is known to have drugs in the unit (even if they are not a dealer) then under Ohio law, you are required to evict them (if you can prove the illegal drug activity). If you do not evict them and let the illegal drug activity go on, the landlord may be subjected to fines.

I remember that ride when I was a kid. It was where the old Flight Commander sat. It was a Ferris Wheel meets Teacup ride in the sky. I know I would never ride something like that today because the spinning would make me sick.

This ride is just like the Zephyr which game about 15 years later and does a few additional things to make for more an exciting ride.

Dutch Shoes were horrible and needed to go. Skylab was a good ride but it was always broken.

wonder why they closed Tomb Raider, I know it sucked as a ride but it had to be cheap to operate at this point and good for keeping lines at other rides short.

2018 U.S. House of Representatives
Don't see the OH-1 going democratic. It will be a closer race than normal but Chabot will likely win. Too much Warren county to cover to really have a good chance to flip it. Plus, given that Chabot is an incumbent with name recognition, it is harder to upend such candidate with the name recognition. The thing that made OH-12 so competitive is that it was an open seat and neither candidate had the name recognition of an incumbent. This was part of the reason why OH-2 became briefly competitive 12 years earlier.

2018 U.S. House of Representatives
This isn't what bore out yesterday though. The rural, pro-Trump precincts did not do as well as expected. It was Delaware County, a Kasich stronghold, that pulled through for Balderson. But that is exactly my point. In a special election in mid August, you are nto going to draw the reliable but not necessarily motivated voters to the polls. People are on vacation, they simply are not focusing on voting, or they are in the middle of work, they just don't care enough to take time out to vote on a hot summer day. They are more focused on the November voting time frame. This vote reminded me of the special election in OH-2 in 2006. This was to replace a popular Rob Portman who held the seat for about 14 years. It was a very reliable GOP seat with a similar make up to the OH-12. The Dems ran a Cincinnati attorney who was an Iraq war veteran and moderate views and the GOP had a woman named Jean Schmidt. She was not a strong candidate and had a number of gaffes along the way. It was extremely close. The same candidates met in November for a rematch and it was not as close. This was because a lot of the reliable and uninspired GOP voters sat it out and just did not care. When it was shown the threat was real, they turned out. He still over performed in the district, but even then it was not enough to flip it.
