  1. At least America Junior is good at something I guess.
  2. ^ I always thought Cianciolos was up a block next to the Dennison and not where the Penn Station was. Penn Station has been there for over 25 years and Cianciolos did not go out of business until around 10 years ago.

  4. http://www.bizjournals.com/bizjournals/news/2015/04/09/market36.html I saw this a couple of years ago. I thought it was concerning about Cincy's ability to attract a team. However, it did not take into account the Dayton market too. I wonder how much that market consolidation will help Cincy.
  5. ^ I don't see why everyone seems to hate the casino? I named my son after the casino.
  6. Impressive Haul by Maryland. Was hoping to see Penn State higher up as well as Nebraska. Sparty has slipped in the last 2 years. Want to see all BIG team sin top 50
  7. If they did that, I think they would have to build a hotel there too.
  8. You are probably right, however, we could have a fighting chance. Maybe they could get 50k in for basketball or something. That could work. but more importantly, it provides additional programming options that US Bank Arena is not suitable for. We could now compete for huge national or international conventions which precludes us now.
  9. ^ That would be a great location if they can do it. Heck the Casino could help fund it and you know they would get programming to fill it on non soccer dates. Still say we need a retractable roof or something on it. I really want a Final 4 to come to Cincy.
  10. Bizjournals reported that average salary will be $26/hr for full time. Some people will be less, others will be earning around $80-90k a year. These are good jobs Jake
  11. Average salary of $52k a year is not a crap job
  12. Maybe a little but not significant. What I think sealed the deal was location, the fact that there was already built infrastructure in place, and an underutilized airport close to a population center. Tax credits and RTW were probably just bonus. CVG beat out Wilmington most likely because it was closer to a population center and large Amazon fulfillment center, It also made it easier for Amazon execs to travel to the area since they are at the airport when they arrive instead of having to hop in a car to go to Wilmington.
  13. And here I thought the big news coming out of the airport today was a new flight option to get me to minnesota
  14. ^ Cincinnati First Jake!!! Cincinnati First America Second.
  15. Because we need another flight to MSP.
  16. I was thinking and this is an outside the box idea, but why not build a retractable roof or dome stadium for soccer. It would be a lot cheaper than doing something like that for football because it will only seat about 30,000, but it would have a lot of benefits. 1) We need a new arena because we lose out on conventions and other trade shows because of the size and dated arena. This will help alleviate that problem because it can provide an indoor event center with the seating people are looking for. 2) It could be used for many more events year round besides soccer. We could now compete for NCAA basketball and even Final 4 (with about 35-40k seats). We could compete for DNC/GNC conventions and some of the largest meeting space. 3) It could be used for High school football playoffs without any conflict from the Bengals 4) It could be used by city High School football teams. 5) It would be novel in the MLS world and one of the more distinct stadiums in the league. 6) It could integrate with the city much better as the opportunity to have such convention and exposition space would be best if it were in the downtown corridor. I know it will not happen, but if you are going to build a stadium for soccer, an indoor arena would have benefits.
  17. Took my second streetcar ride last night from Ftn Square to the Banks. Would have walked but the group wanted to ride the streetcar. If it were not for the wait, it would not have been bad. For that short of a distance, I would probably walk it 90% of the time and it would be quicker. That said, the ride was nice, and if I were going up to Rhinegeist or Findlay Market, would definitely ride it again.
  18. Has it topped off yet or is there 1 or 2 more stories that need to be added?
  19. There already is a soccer specific site at UC. Gettler Stadium. Capacity 1,400. Could you take that site and possibly expand to say 25k? It would be tight, but the rest of the infasturcture is already there.
  20. Is there space to build a soccer specific facility at UC? This could be used by both an MLS team and UC. Question would be over ownership, but if Nippert is not an option, the next best option would be to take the soccer field and try and expand that into a 25k seat stadium on campus. (if even possible)
  21. what would be interesting is a before and after of this block. Once construction is finished on the tower, a shot of what the block looked like on all sides and compare it to a photo of what it looked like before.
  22. ^ to be fair, when comparing it to most cities, should we also add in the hotels on the Riverfront in Covington and Newport. They are all walking distance to downtown and although not part of the CBD, they are part of a core downtown fabric from an outsider perspective.
  23. if there are a lot of people trying to connect out of Chicago or Dallas from Cincinnati, it will then show the airline there is demand for the cross country direct flight to the West Coast. That is what it will take.
  24. WHomever wins the election this Fall, they need to fire Art Dahlburg. That guy is a clown who never does anything positive, gets the cities he has worked in sued from his actions. He needs to go.
  25. ^Don't be knocking Vape Shops. They are key components to any retail strip center in Middletown. At least I have seen that first hand.
