As he should. Given that he represents the Mahoning valley, and many of his constituents are not college educated voters, loan forgiveness is detrimental to his constituents.
  2. I think location matters too of course. the Wendy's on 4th street was well served because it was able to get some Reds/Bengals game day traffic from back in the day. Now it became quite run down toward the end which detracted from people going there, but it did work out well in that space. I do not think Fountain Sq would be good for a McDonalds or Wendy's but certainly certain areas of downtown could be a fit
  3. Based on how he spoke, I am thinking it will be more in the Dayton market than Columbus market. I certainly can see Piqua/Troy/Springfield as good options just as I can see Moraine/Kettering/Miamisburg too (they have those old brownfields there that could be redeveloped instead of the raw land by building in the country, plus there are utilities running to those areas of Dayton already.
  4. Just heard DeWine talk about it. He alluded that it will be likely in the listening area of S.W. Ohio. He was rather cryptic about it but it could certainly be Marysville. I think it rules out Toledo (which he pretty much alluded too) and NE Ohio. My guess is that it will be somewhere on the 75 corridor Middletown - piqua range. Or along 70 from Marysville - Indiana border
  5. Would love to see it in Dayton as the automotive sector has been hit hard there. I could see the Marysville area but also I can see why you keep it out of Marysville since both places would pull from the same talent pool.
  6. If Brisset guides the team to 6-5 they make the playoffs If they start out 3-8 they obviously miss the playoffs. I think that can be said about every team with hopes of the playoffs this year. What is important to remember is that EVERY NFL team can end up that way. A couple of key injuries and a Patrick Mahomes led chiefs or Josh Allen led Bills turn into a last place team. People act like the Browns are down and out before the season starts but that is hardly the case. Yes, Super Bowl this year may be overly optimistic to think about in August, but playoffs should not be. This is not MLB where making the playoffs is reserved for a few select teams trying to compete at the beginning of the year. In the NFL, every team can have playoff aspirations come week 1. The talent divide is not as big as it may seem on the surface. Who would have predicted last August what Cincinnati did, or even that the Titans would win home field advantage. Heck it was not too long ago that Drew Brees, in a lame duck year, was starting for the Chargers before Phillip Rivers took over, and he led them to the best record in the AFC that year. Brissett may be no Brees, but that does not mean he cannot catch lightening in a bottle, especially with the Browns Defense.
  7. Breaking news, Browns finalizing negotiations to sign “Punt God” Matt Azaria who was just released by the Bills.😀 yes a little humor but given the Browns it is at least plausible.
  8. Panera is like a Starbucks. It is a chain but it is that 2nd space. You have consistency in the location and you know what you are going to get. I have had many business meetings in Panera’s because you can meet one on one over coffee, do a slide presentation with internet and know that you are going to have a consistent venue no matter where you are. This is invaluable to business travelers. Panera is much more than just a sandwich shop, and for the record I find their food overpriced for what it is, but if I am out of town and need to meet with a few clients and there is no office available, Panera’s make excellent locations for such meetings.
  9. Panera is a great addition. It offers the flexibility of take out, fast casual dining while also the ability to use as a work station or work meetings. It is something that is missed IMO.
  10. WIth the Carew closing as office space, it would be nice if they add the office tower above the old Macy's. While residential and hotel development is awesome, there is still a need for a mix of workers who are downtown too. Having the 20 story tower on top of that building would add energy to Ftn Sq. IMO
  11. I agree with the ranking, but I think Stefanski has been a good coach. Ultimately, your QB will take you to the playoffs and further. An average QB will get you to the playoffs. A poor QB will waste the season. Last year Cleveland had a poor QB. This is not a knock on Baker. I actually think he is a top half of the league QB when he is healthy and playing his best, but he was playing hurt all of last year and despite that the Browns went into week 17 with a chance to win the division and could have still made a wild card if they beat Pittsburgh. That is not on Stefanski. I think he has proven himself a good coach. At least as good as any coach in the modern history of the Browns. Although it was before the Haslem's, letting go of Stefanski and using him as a scapegoat for the season would almost be as bad as when Moddell fired Belicheck after 1995. He took a team to the playoffs the year before and had a loaded team in 1995 that would have probably won the division had it not been for the distraction of the team moving and he chose not to retain the coach when they moved to Baltimore. Not that I am disappointed that the Ravens did not get to enjoy a Belicheck type run, but to my point, running Stefanski out of town would almost feel that way.
  12. everyone has a say about public schools in the community but not about education of the individual child. That is up to the parents. It is been allowed that vouchers have allowed underprivileged children in Ohio the opportunity to attend schools that may better meet their needs. In Ohio you have a large religious, especially Catholic school infrastructure that has been able to help these children now for decades. Furthermore, bussing and other services have been used in Ohio for generations to transport kids to religious schools. This has not been controversial until recently.
  13. are they still targeting around 700-800 rooms or will it be scaled down some?
  14. That is a factual fallacy. The state's money IS the people's money. People collectively pool their money to the state for common goods. It is not the State's money, it always belongs to the taxpayers.
  15. So from what you are hearing it sounds like they are pushing more of a higher end convention brand like a JW, Omni, Loews?
  16. So what. That has been allowed in Ohio for a long time. Ohio, being an older state had a strong infrastructure of religious based schools that has gone back to the early 20th century. Allowing these schools access to individual student funds is fine as parents should have choice and options as to their child's education. It is not the state's money, it is not the school district's money, it belongs to the taxpayer and they should be able to educate their children how they feel is best. Teachers Unions should not have a monopoly on taxpayer funds
  17. Things have seemed pretty quiet on this front since the World Cup bid fell through. Any news or updates here? Has momentum cooled some lately or do we still expect to see something built by 2025?
  18. I dont see why the first 10 floors or so are still not suitable for office? Class B office downtown still would have some demand and there will always be a need for growing businesses in that sector. The top floors which are much more narrow certainly fit condo/apartment.
  19. That is a good point, if Cleveland is 3-8 when Watson comes back, do you play him and risk injury in a season going down the crapper? (Yes they could run the table and go 9-8 but what is the reality of that happening in the last 6 games with a QB who has not played in almost 2 years). Love Watson or hate Watson, he is the person the Browns are going to roll with the next 5 years for 240 million guaranteed. Knocking him out another year with a blown ACL or something would not be a great return on the investment for the Browns. Of course if something like that would happen, it is something that could only happen in Cleveland.
  20. I do not think the 1st round picks will bite them **if** Watson performs as he is billed in the future. It seems like 1 of every 3 first round pick is a big hit while others are either busts or marginal players. The bigger downside is that even if Watson is the All Pro he is billed to be, how long can they afford the rest of the key players they have, plus each passing year, Garrett and others get older and start breaking down more.
  21. I can't really see better than 500 with the schedule. If things go off the rails early, it could get very ugly.
  22. Looking at the schedule, I think the Browns are an 8-9 or 9-8 team. Brissett is a 500 QB. Watson coming back week 11 is going to be rusty and the schedule at the end of the year is pretty challenging. I think he has 2 losses just getting up to speed and comfortable again after a long layoff. Also, who knows about injuries.

There is no doubt. I think Ryan has run a brilliant campaign so far, as well as you can from his position and Ohio being a red state. Vance may not have committed the fatal error, yet..... but, he certainly has run a campaign that does not give him room for error. I do not think Ohio is like Kentucky or Alabama yet where the only chance for a Dem to win statewide is to have a GOP candidate like a Roy Moore or Matt Bevin.

I agree with you. Ideally, Vance should have used his front runner position to bury the airwaves in May/June/July to define himself and his opponent. Of course that costs money, and it is not my money so who am I to tell him how to spend his money.

Ryan should put up a good fight but I think it is Vances to lose still.
