  1. I think you should count Wooster as part of the Cleveland market too. Also, I am impressed by the Toledo area. Defintietely punching above its weight. Tied with Columbus if you throw Marathon into that mix.
  2. But isnt Columbus trying to build a new main terminal on that side of the property anyway? Maybe it is part of the long term plan to get things moved over to that part of the airport??
  3. Honestly, large or small airports, I think it is pretty much the wave of what travelers desire and better for the rental car companies too. Maybe back when Cincinnati was a large Delta hub with 600 destinations it made sense to have a close garage for the overnight get away. However, I think that even with a large hub such as Chicago or a Boston, it makes sense to keep them in the garage by the terminal. Since 9/11, gone are the days where you could pull up to the gate 20 minutes before your flight and hop on a plane. That lessens the demp and for such close parking. Plus, there is a lot less demand for vistors to park at the terminal garage to go and wait for thier guests at the gate. Furthermore, with cell phones and the internet, it is easy to track the flight to make sure you do not arrive an hour ahead of time and hneed to park and wait. Travel styles to the airport have changed in the last 20 years making some of the uses of those expensive garages obsolete.
  4. I think Covid may have put ICON in a much stronger position against the Newport facility than it was going to be in originally. The Newport facility was going to open much earlier and would have already had a chance to establish itself first as the destination for these concerts. Now, ICON is essentially opening at the same time or even beating Newport to the punch which will really help it out long term.
  5. There are a lot or larger airports that have rental parking on the first couple floors of the garage. Orlando is one that stands out.
  6. There are now going to be work out enthusiast from all over the world making pilgrimages to the Port of Toledo, driving down to Wood County, and watching their peloton be built and picking out their peloton material from the factory shop along with pain an exorbitant amount for overpriced T-shirts at the peloton shop. This is going to be bigger than Disney WorldThis is going to be bigger than Disney World
  7. That skywalk has never bothered me much. It was very lightly used anyway. It is there, but in reality given the location, the street was always the preferable mode of travel anyway. There were a lot more street businesses in that area, there was no Skywalk businesses and not much to encourage people to go to the Skywalk level at that location. It is not like the Tower Place Skywalk where there were a lot of Skywalk level businesses. That Skywalk took people from an elevator bank surrounded by hotel ballrooms on one side to an event center surrounded by blank space on the other side. WHereas, any businesses that were in those buildings that people would travel too were on ground level. Given that the street was fairly narrow in those areas, it was just natural for people to go on the street. I do not have a problem with leaving the skywalk there because it actually does not detract anything from street businesses at that location. The Skywalk is the vehicle that is not really used. Invest the money into other features in the building and let the Skywalk be in this case.
  8. I see where you are trying to go with this...... Figure out the architecture firm, storm the gates, demand answers, share the story here. :) lol
  9. My only issue with going up the hill to UC is that it would be much more expensive. If you can get people to take a 3-4 minute Streetcar ride to the game from their parking lot at Union Terminal or the Casino or whereever else, it could lead to them to spend more time going around town after the games instead of getting in their cars and going home.
  10. I think that sounds too expensive. I think it may be better to have a spur from the Casino to FCC and continue it on to Union Terminal. Connect key entertainment venues and more importantly, they all offer large parking structures that can filter people in from the oustide into the more dense urban area, and they are all taged to attractions. When FCC does not have a game, it is still viable becuase it lets people park there during the day and gives them transportation to their jobs for work, or their apartments if they do not want to or are able to park on the street by their apartments.
  11. ^ PG needs to realize that his political career is over for a while and time for him to formulate a new path for himself in the private sector. His first goal is beating the charges, not framing some political campaign around it.
  12. Well I’m sympathetic to your argument, I think there’s a big difference between working and living in Ohio versus working in Ohio and living in a different state. I don’t think that traveling on federal roads are university Roads would be enough to overcome your challenge. Municipal income tax is affectively a state income tax, in the state legislature ultimately controls where those funds go. In this case, they permit municipalities to have some discretion over funds and allow them to loving their own tax. But the state legislature can take that away and handle things differently if they so choose. There would be no federal issue here and it would be solely a state matter sense all parties involved would be Ohio citizens. Well I may not personally agree, I get the reasoning. The best likelihood is when you can have a federal matter in such a case, and that would typically have to involve an out-of-state resident with an Ohio employer
  13. The rule is not about representation but contacts. Paying 7% sales tax in PA for a stick of gum or a hotel tax for visiting a place is about the contact you have at that place and the use of services. Paying income tax for working in BG and living in Toledo is about the contact you have in BG by commuting there and using the services of BG. While working in BG you rely on the roads and police and fire services, etc so income taxes are legal based on those contacts. It really is not justified (and courts will likely follow the existing precedence here soon) to charge income tax for working at a company based in Bowling Green but working out of your home in Toledo. There are no direct contacts in Bowling Green where you use their services so to pay income tax to that municipality is not really justified. (I will demurr a bit because being Toledo to Bowling Green and State Income tax, the Ohio legisliature does have more power to legislate in favor of the current plan in place). However, if you were to change the scenario and say have someone work from home with a company based in Lima but live in Fort Wayne, you now have a Federal issue and prior precedence has shown that charging them muni income tax would likely not be justified). This is a current case moving through the SC where New Hampshire is suing Massachusetts about taxastion of their residents who work remotely for Boston companies and how that is no longer justified. This could really screw places like NYC and Boston who have a lot of high income people who live out of state.
  14. I was asking a question not stating a fact.
  15. For clarification purposes, the buildings they are tearing down are not for the new HQ bulding but for future condo/apartment/hotel development, correct? THe proposed HQ tower (if it ever comes to fruition) will be on the site of the parking garage on 3rd street or the current HQ on 5th Street?
  16. I wonder when they will release these plans. They released the drawings for Queen City Square back in 2001 i believe and did not start construction of the small building until 2003 and larger one until 2008
  17. But I thought that building was going to a different parcel, namely the garage on 3rd Street? Those buildings seem like they are too small of a parcel for an 800' building. Plus, I cant see much high end office towers being built and financed in the current environment with more an more permanently working from home. Plus aren't they going to build the building at the Banks later this year? Seems like too much office space for the market if they add an 800' tower.
  18. I think they stay in the bay area, even move down toward San Jose, but that is a challenge because San Fran has a claim on that part of the market and would certainly spur a court battle. I think it would be Las Vegas, Portland or Vancouver before they go East to a place like Nashville or Charlotte. It will be important to MLB to keep a team in that region. Otherwise, you essentially leave the Angels and Seattle on islands, especially Seattle. Keeping the team out West will be a priority for MLB

Divisive is trying to divide things into classes, races, etc. instead of seeking solutions that unify us and find commonality. This does not mean we gloss over differences and seek homogeny, but it means we do not seek to tear others down as our first though or focus on minor slights and insetad we seek to recognize their goodness before we notice their flaws.
  22. Brutus_buckeye replied to KJP's post in a topic in Ohio Politics
Divisiveness is a poorly communicated term by those who are troubled by the teachings of CRT and its counterparts. To your point, slavery is divisive and the sexual orientation of people can be divisive too. That does not mean we do not teach those concepts as part of our history, etc. The bigger theme here is that it is moving beyond providing education on those subjects. What schools are attempting to do, without even laying a proper foundation, is not just teach about subjects which may be "Divisive," but they are actively teaching people that it ok to hate each other and to treat certain people as unequal or lesser than or vice versa. The problematic thing is that instead of creating unity and common values, it seeks to break people into tribes and tribalism and stoke tensions between them until one side submits. It is destructive

People do not understand the concept of CRT and that it is not meant to lead to a critical discussion on race, which on its surface would appear, but it is rather a subset of critical theory, which essentially looks to cast society in two levels, an opporessor and oppressed and divide people inot two categories. Why people want to give credance to this garbage is beyond me.
  24. There are benefits and negatives about this. Obviously the benefits are more turnout by voters and voter participation. However, the cons are that the Fed election would overshadow the local elections and crowd out much of the local candidates ability to get exposure and tout their message. Plus, many of the candidates in either party often act as surrogates and promoters for the Federal candidate who is running for office. It would be a lot harder for someone like Aftab to be as active in promoting President Biden and knocking on doors for him, or SHerrod Brown, etc while trying to run his own race and manage his own messaging at the same time. It would also make it hard form someone in city politics to distinguish themselves from a national platform. Local races for mayor involve local issues and it would be completely irrelevant to ask someone like Aftab to take a position on where he stands on the Afghan pullout or Border crisis, yet, if you would move the local race to even years, you force local candidates to take positions on things that really have nothing to do with local issues.
