Ohio Designated Outdoor Refreshment Areas (DORA / Open Container)
Considering the Reds were out of town and there were no concerts going on last weekend, it appears the DORA area has been a success thus far.

Columbus Crew Discussion
Ok I can name the top 8 on the list and KC Royals are number 19. I have no clue on the others.

Cincinnati: West End: TQL Stadium
I think they want to expand on Otr and not create a new banks. this site was selected because of OTR. The way the grand staircase opens to the East side shows the desire to connect with OTR and the existing neighborhood. Plus the fact the streetcar stop is a block away it adds connectivity to the neighborhood. It would be different t if the stadium was surrounded by a sea of parking and garages encouraging people to come and immediately go. I do not get that sense here

Cincinnati: Downtown: Convention Center / Hotel
In all fairness, the tower seemed like it still could have had a little more life, the shorter building seemed much more obsolete, almost like a motor inn or something along those ends. If (a big if) things can turn around on schedule and we get a nice new gleaming tower on the site, it will be worth it.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Convention Center / Hotel
To put it in perspective, the current hotel was give or take 800 rooms with two towers and lower floorplates than would be used today. The Hyatt is approx 20 stories and about 350 rooms I believe and the Westin is fairly comparable in size. So to build 800 rooms they would need to have some level of height you would think. Maybe not taller than now but that is still a noticeable building in the Skyline personally I would like them to build something like the jw in Indy

Cleveland: Downtown: Tower at Erieview & Galleria Renovation
I remember many years ago looking out at that building from my office and could not help but think that the building should have been built much taller.

Housing Market & Trends
It is a money grab under the auspeices of health and safety. It is really about raising fees

Housing Market & Trends
I know there has been a lot of litigation challenging some of these city inspections upon disposition of property in the last few years. There was a big case in Bedford I remember but not sure what came of it.

2021 NFL Draft
Cleveland is very pretty and has a very nice downtown. Cleveland in the summer with the flats and the lake are a blast. But then I remember the reason why I left Cleveland. It had nothing to do with the people, or the amenities that the town had to offer but a ton to do with the weather for 9 months out of the year.

Ohio Municipal Income Tax
The problem is that the largest cities (Cbus, Cincy, Cleveland, Toledo) have more people who travel into the core to work during hte day than the reverse. While there will be an offest, it will still be negative to the biggest cities.

Ohio Municipal Income Tax
This is certainly going to be appealed, Cincinnati has it worse because of the Kentucky and Indiana workers who cross state lines. They cant necessarily rely on this case, because that involves a Federal issue given that the workers are crossing state lines, generally, the law is not in the cities favor there. I tend to think the Franklin County case is a short term win before the rest of the dam breaks through.

Cincinnati: University of Cincinnati: Development and News
Brutus_buckeye replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionI thought they had been virtual for years and the space was strictly administrative. I thought they downsized a few years back because they also had the building across the street and I beleive they got rid of that one a while back.

Blue Ash: Development and News
The thing is Sycamore over the years has developed a large infastructure to support. During the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s they were booming as a ton of empty land was developed there. Now, the main development there is tear downs which generally are not sustaining the student threshold in the schools as people who live in the more expensive houses are likely having fewer kids, and these houses are just replacing existing houses and not actually adding to the housing stock. Blue Ash is the only real area where there is developable land from the airport area, at a price point that will attract families with school aged children at mid level price points to the area. That is why having updated apartments is an important tool to getting and keeping families in the area.

Blue Ash: Development and News
I do like the concept. However, I cant see it flying very well with the neighborhood behind the railroad tracks. Heck, Blue Ash residents were upset at the apartments at Summit Park because they did not want to attract renters with families. Problem is, outside of Blue Ash, there really is not much developable land in Blue Ash, Montgomery or the townships and if they cant continue bringing in residents, the schools will shrink and they will be over built on schools in the area in the coming future. They need some of the lower price points to attract families to replentish the school system.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Convention Center / Hotel
But to @646empire point, I do not think the current center would be designed to support a multi tiered structure. you essentially need to tear it down and start from scratch if you were going to do something like that.

Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists
So it appears Ohio is 45 out of 50? That does not appear to be great news.
-
Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists
I bet Cleveland was flat to small growth, Other parts of NE OH lost but it was much slower than prior decade. cincinnati grew and Columbus grew fastest as many of the people moving from other areas of the state (less Cincinnati) relocated to Columbus.

Cleveland: Housing Market
All I know is the neighborhood is called Westwinds and it appears that the house was built around 85-87 from what I recall. I am not 100% sure on those details yet. It could have been built in 90 time frame. It is in the North part of the subdivision off of Lake road.
-
Cleveland: Housing Market
Ha, not quite that nice. It is in the Westwinds neighborhood. about 35 years old, mid 80s build. It has been remodeled in the last 2 years and looks very nice.

Ohio General Assembly
I could live with a Donald J Trump park if Trump wants to invest 100 million and buy the land and park and build it and maintain it. Otherwise, the current name is fine.

Cleveland: Housing Market
I know a good off market house getting ready to hit the market in Avon Lake if anyone is interested.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Convention Center / Hotel
Why not just expand up? Yes, it poses some issues 1) no contiguous floor plans, 2) it makes staging certain events more difficult, but how many conventions have "everyone" in the same hall at one time. Running 2 large halls in the same place could add conventions and opportunities. Has anyone thought of this? I thought I saw some cities had multi level convention halls.
