  1. I honestly cant see it passing. End of the day, majority of voters do not live in the city, they do not see a sales tax increase to improve 1) Buses they do not use and 2) Roads, which they consider the state's responsibility to fix, worthy of imposing the sales tax increase. I could be wrong. I personally am going to vote for it, but I don't see that this is going to pass. I think with the emphasis on bus transportation that the majority of voters do not use and will not be affected by, I can't imagine them passing this. Plus sales tax increases have such a bad history in the county from the stadium to the now .2 increase the county just pushed through last year, voters will be leery to do this again. The County doing what they did last Summer/Fall may have poisoned the well on this.
  2. Really dont think the market would go for those units even if zoning does. The YP class is in Cincinnati because they still desire a bit of affordability. NY and Chicago are not for everyone. Also, if you are going to pay $2.50-$3.00 sq ft here for a 200 sq ft place, you could still get a 500-600sq ft within a reasonable proximity at a lower per sq ft cost than the micro unit. A rational renter would choose the bigger unit for the same price or not significantly more. Now if we get a version of an Amazon or another large employer that brings in 5000-10000 jobs in the city core, the apodments may make sense.
  3. I always hated that building. It would be best to tear it down and redevelop it. It is a decent sized lot and you could build a 15-20 story apartment tower on the lot. Maybe some mixed use space.
  4. They would not be able to keep quiet about it prior to the announcement. It would be like when Southwest landed at CVG. Alaska is a perfect addition and it really makes a ton on sense, not just with the AA/BA flights overseas (it really makes no sense to connect in Seattle to go to England, New York is a much better gateway at that point). With the Prime Air Hub ramping up, you figure there will be a ton of additional Amazon traffic on those flights and a lot of guarantees in seat purchases. I could even see Delta adding another non-stop to Seattle in the coming years.
  5. There has to be some super sleuth around here with a connection to get the scoop before everyone else does?
  6. My guess is SPirit or some new startup airline. I am sure if it were Jet Blue we would hear about it by now through the rumor mill and you would see something on the Jet Blue website (hidden on it or course) I dont think Alaska is coming here yet (although it would be great if they did). Depends on how much demand there is for another flight to Seattle at this point. Cant see them doing anything outside of a flight to Seattle. Maybe British is announcing their new international service to London, but I think it would probably have leaked out by now too. This is why I bet it is a small startup or Spirit type airline.
  7. I dont know much about how she will be on council but Betsey is a very nice person. Glad she has this opportunity
  8. Reports are it could be Kearney who would be an excellent pick. I still would love to see Alecia Reese but I dont think they will wait until the County Commission primary is settled. There is a push from the progressive side for Dillingham, and I hope to God it is not her. Whomever it is should be someone who understands the business community and has a good working relationship with them. The one thing about PG is that he understands the business community. Kearney and Reese do. Tamaya did not, although to her credit she was trying and making an effort. Dillingham has her constituents that she cares about and everyone else be damned. She would be a horrible member of council.
  9. ^ Talk about a bad week for Dennard. Somebody needs a Snickers.
  10. Hopefully not Dillingham. She is a nut. Ozie Davis would be reasonable. In the event that she loses, I would LOVE to see Alecia Reese back on council. Otherwise, she would be a great commissioner.
  11. I never liked the setup of Concourse D having to walk through C and then underground to get to D. It would have been nice if they had a train like ATL connecting the concourses. It just seemed a poor setup from the start and not overly functional in the event Continental ever pulled out. The thing about Cleveland's airport, and it has been about 15 years since I last flew in there is that it always seemed just pieced together without much of a master plan. I think the Terminals seemed fine but the concourses did not function well together. They were not connected well, they were old and did not seem like it could be better reconfigured to a modern airport like say Ohare or Hartsfield of DFW. It almost would be better if they could to start over from scratch on the other end of the airfield, kind of like what they have done in Indy.

Well, based on the above, I can see why none of them are getting laid anymore.
  13. Did you go to the Dominican ?
  14. As long as one side knows the conversation is being recorded, that is all that matters. It would not be admissible if the lines were being bugged (w/o a warrant) and neither party had an expectation that someone was listening. Some states, I believe CA being one of them, requires 2 party consent.
  15. I obviously did not see eye to eye with her politically but did meet here a few times. Overall, she struck me as a bit over her head on the job, and really did not understand all the rules and protocols of an elected official. However, I will say, she was always very nice, and I got a sense that she was truly trying to learn and listen and understand different point of views on subjects. She was not a close minded individual and was trying to work toward educating herself on various sides of the issues.
  16. ^ Where the heck do you find this crap, Jake?
  17. While I like that idea, there are some challenges to doing residential on that spot. 1) Parking to justify the cost of residential there, unless you build a garage above ground. However, there is plenty of parking nearby so it is not likely a huge issue. 2) The other issue I see and think it is a bigger issue is whether units directly above the highway will command the premium it takes to build them. Will people be annoyed if their unit overlooks the highway and is subject to the highway noise. It is a bit different than the Radius which is set back a bit from the highway.
  18. Since we apparently feel we need to do everything Newport does,, why not build our own Aquarium so people dont have to drive across the scary bridges into Kentucky.
  19. Music Venue, Ferris wheel. Coming to the Banks in 2022 New World Class Aquarium. It almost feels that city leaders are just trying to stick it to Newport for beating out the city in the late 90s and early 2000s with NOTL and Aquarium projects.
  20. I find it comical that he mentioned the "huge" loss of Macy's HQ as a big thing. Yes, they are moving 500 jobs out of downtown but it is only a couple dozen that are leaving the region and they are bringing in hundreds more as a net gain. People who worked in the tower did not necessarily live downtown and people who live downtown dont always work downtown either.
  21. Office floors are going to cost more than residential floors. I agree, He sounds a bit of a blowhard. He has at least made connections with the right local group, but I would have much more faith in such a project if it had North American Properties name behind it or Neyer or Warm
  22. The Gatwick flight had a lot of travelers on it. THere was a strong built in Cincy connection. GE, P&G amongst others sent a lot of people there. GE also sent a ton to Paris which is why there is still that flight, but the Gatwick flight was fairly popular. Given its history, I can see a London flight coming back. They had no history with StL
  23. ^ They need something to fix public transportation in the area. As loathe as I am to taxes and espouse a libertarian viewpoint, this is a worthy venture and even if it does not get much of what we would like to see, it is still worth supporting because it helps to stabilize the system at the very minimum.
  24. I think that pretty much applies to every city though. Each town has their job centers in the city and burbs.
  25. So job wise it is a net positive. HQ job losses are only looking like a couple dozen as most of those will go to the burbs and not out of town.
