Fairmount properties pulled a building permit on November 8 for “new construction” at 1109 Old River Road. Don’t know what that means. It’s only for an 11,000 square foot building.

The school district was waiting because it wanted to make sure that the school district wasn't the only one giving up tax revenue when they heard the county was going to be having a meeting with Stark. Yes, the school district and the county and the city slow-walked this debate until after the election. Even after local tax incentives, stark will be going to the state to ask for funding assistance as well.

As somebody who lives on Franklin, I can tell you that people fly down this street, passing turning cars, speeding through school zones. Making it 25 miles per hour and combining that with traffic calming devices to make if feel like it should be 25 mph would be fantastic.

Im sure that Burke would not be 'lightly used green space.' Lakefront parks are massively visited across the region. And are spurring adjacent development in many cases, something that Burke has yet to really do

Don't let him scare you Yabo, I have friends that lived in that building and loved it. The whole area is gorgeous and you can walk anywhere. Have fun!

Do they still make smaller theaters like that? New build theaters I mean? Maybe they do, I just haven't seen any. I don't know if that product exists out there

I'd be curious whether the decrease in bachelor's would be related to an increase in Cleveland State students living Downtown while in school. I just don't know if i can deal with American Fact Finder right now...

Hold on. In that video the reporter says they are voting tonight. Is that right? That seems really surprising.

Totally worth a try. We can't sit and do nothing I don't agree with that attitude David. The rock hall was not supposed to go to cleveland. No one expected us to get the republican national convention. Big pushes landed us those assets. Thinking creatively to show community support is not desperation. You actually said in the following sentence "perception is reality." If we don't perceive ourselves as able to land a big company, then we won't.

I think the coolest thing we could do is create a grassroots movement to support the bid. Have an amazon-themed party downtown, have the dog pound hold up a sign during a browns game, get Great Lakes to come out with an Amazon Ale, and throw a yard sign on every property in cleveland. That sign of overwhelming community support could really help push otherwise equal bids over the edge

Just walked by. That is VERY clearly a construction office... AND all the streetlights around the building have been removed in preparation. It's really happening!

I can tell you that none of the plans I have ever heard (public meetings I've witnessed), none of the plans I have ever seen (documents I have read), and none of the discussions I have ever been part of (in applying for grants in relation to Irishtown bend) have brought up the possibility of these towers going away. In fact, each conversation has explicitly included the keeping of these towers even while other CMHA properties have been targeted for demolition.

I have heard the exact opposite: Sherwin is incredibly committed to Downtown and the ultimate goal for the company is a building many people on this board would be happy about. I think that Sherwin Williams is actually and simply just trying to figure out all its numbers---total employees, square feet needed, etc etc

Hmmm. Interesting. I like the concept a bit more after that explanation. A few questions arise: would a crosstown redline then have to loop around downtown before a west sider could step off on the east side? Or would there also be a sole cross-town route? Or would a west sider have to transfer to reach the east side? I do think that the distance to get to the train tracks in tower city does just FEEL long. Even once you are inside the building you have a while until you get to the station. I think copenhagens new metro stations are great examples of fitting modern stations into a tight urban environment. My only issue with this remains a rather confusing looking system map. With trains going around loops in different directions and people having to loop around downtown at one pet of their day if they use the same station

Can someone explain to me two things with this idea? 1. How would this work in terms of trains coming in from shaker, let's say. Would half circle the loop going one way and half circle the loop going the other? 2. Are we expecting that this would add more people to ridership than, say, building a new line heading south or west or east? This would just get people slightly closer to their end destination? I'm a little confused as to what problem this expensive idea is addressing. thanks!

According to onthemap, 6% of jobs in the city of Columbus are in public administration. That's 28,031 people employed in public admin. 21,903 of those public admin jobs pay 40k or more per year. The city of cleveland----6.1% of total city jobs are in public admin, but that only accounts for 15,862 jobs. 10,942 public admin jobs pay greater than 40k. So they both make up a relatively equal portion of city jobs....columbus just has almost double the number.

I know some folks who went there....the service took two hours. It was miserable for them. They will need to get it together.
