  1. Yes they do in fact rent jet skis there
  2. I am glad this has surfaced. As great as Public Square is at the moment, what truly makes a city great is connectivity. I think having transit integrated makes Public Square and the city as a whole look much more progressive. I say a good compromise is allowing the buses to go through the square but moving the stops out of the square.
  3. Luckily, they front 15th. There's still a chance we can get some active retail on Superior in the future.
  4. I'd rather watch paint dry...
  5. http://www.cuyahogalandbank.org/properties.php
  6. So I was just on the Land Bank's website and noticed that there are A LOT of parcels that are "pending transfer" in East Cleveland. And to make things more interesting, they are all on the 5 or so streets that are immediately adjacent to University Circle. (Wadena, Penrose, Woodlawn, Brightwood, etc.) Something interesting might be going down here...
  7. Yeah pretty sure this is a typical case of NIMBYism. It's an urban neighborhood. more residents=more amenities.
  8. To me, that indicates he may have landed Medical Mutual?? That's such a large increase in office space that MM is really the only candidate. We know Sherwin will stay up the hill closer to Public Square. That's pretty much a given at this point.
  9. It's the wood stain for christ's sake. Just put the same stuff on my deck last weekend. People with no education on building materials sure seem to be coming out of the woodwork to find anything they "think" is wrong with the new public square
  10. Awesome!! I have been hoping for this building to be rehabbed for quite some time now.
  11. I am a little more optimistic with these trees than the last ones there. Strangely enough, I have a friend who is a major in botany. We were having a conversation about these particular trees over a few drinks this weekend. (Only UO people can talk about this at a bar) He said tat because they took the metal grates out, these ones have a significantly higher chance of surviving. Apparently those metal grates allow virtually no water to reach the roots of the tree.
  12. KJP. I would be interested in buying the original of either the first or second pic because they appear to be taken from the exact apartment I lived in previously! Looks like about the location of Grant's dept store on Euclid correct?
  13. ^Little over reacting? So I look at the Public art inside the 5th St Arcades as a sign of the success of this project. Every time I walk through there, there is a family stopped so that their children can play on the plastic swivel artwork. It's simple, colorful, and draws people in. The meerkats blocking the views of the lake from the Mall might be a bit much though
  14. My building (Water St) is undergoing the same process. I own mine already, so it's not a huge deal, but I know that some of the rental units are not being renewed once an existing lease is up. They are renovating them and selling.
  15. Wow that looks great!
  16. ^Agree completely. That's why I love what UCI is doing in the southern portion of Glenville. UC is out of room to expand. Glenville is a blank slate with beautiful bones. One home at a time is all it takes. If you haven't been through the Ashbury section of Glenville lately, I highly suggest passing through. You will be pleasantly surrpirsed! The progress is real and impressive.
  17. Random question... Does anybody know what happened with the large apartment building planned by Geis on Clinton Ave in Hingetown? Please don't tell me the moronic neighbors killed it. Because what's there now is so appealing...
  18. I was less worried about SW than I was about MM I think Sherwin is even more committed than any other company. I truly feel that this will be a turning point for downtown. If MM stays and consolidates, we can potentially have 4 new large towers under construction at the same time (SW HQ, MM HQ, Nucleus, Weston tower) and the image of our city changes in an instant. Hell, our entire skyline will change if that happens. It would scream that Cleveland is back and for good this time. However, the reverse can happen if we lose MM. It would be a tremendous blow to downtown, even moreso than Eaton leaving. I guess that's why I am so curious to hear any rumors. Either way, the effects are much larger than almost any other project at the moment.
  19. So I'm gonna speculate here, and this is pure speculation, but it's obvious that the culture of Sherwin and Medical Mutual is conducive to downtown. They have sponsored an unbelievable amount of stuff in the city and I don't see them abandoning that anytime soon. Here's what I see happening...CLE sells land to Highland Hills in order for Jacobs to develop IKEA. I think ikea is hot on northeast Ohio and they don't want the Brooklyn fiasco to hinder their expansion here. This really is the only other logical site for Them. Cleveland takes the proceeds from the sale and offers them as incentive to a developer or company that wants to build in downtown (ahem...Jacobs lot and MM or SW). In turn, Jacobs takes the incentive, develops their property downtown for a new corporate headquarters and still gets to develop chagrin highlands with less red tape involved. Win win for everyone. It seems over the head of our leaders, but not too far fetched. Edit: Not sure if anyone has any inside info, but can I at least get a "hot or cold" on my theory :-D
  20. In this case, (disregarding the Jacobs owned lots), this may have been the only place along the viaduct that this could be built. In the aerial, the green patch just on the other side of the existing building is where the lake link trail will be punching through, and the other two smaller buildings next to that are in use
  21. I still don't understand why we are so harsh on Hopkins?! I've flown all over the US and world and while Hopkins is far from the biggest terminal, for it's size it has pretty good amenities. It's very clean too. Are the hallways paved in granite? No, but do they really need to be? Sure I would love it if they rebuilt the whole airport, but at this point, I would not say we are in a league of our own.
  22. To answer the question of who is the primary audience for this Heinens, I can tell you from experience that it is mostly the residents downtown. I personally changed my shopping habits to make small trips every other day for food instead of the huge runs weekly. After you go there on a regular basis, you start to see the same faces and realize that others are adjusting to. I love this style of shopping by the way! Is it as jam packed as the Rocky River location? No, but they are definitely not hurting. As far as going to Steelyard...Let's just say I haven't done that since college, and it is up there with the other questionable decisions I made in college...
  23. Yeah seriously!? Do they maybe mean that it's not a no-go this year perhaps? Does anyone have any clue what stark has going on?
  24. Technically, Scranton Peninsula is the west bank of the flats and conveniently across the river from their lab. Am I hot or cold Klingaling?
