Cleveland Guardians Discussion
There have been too many Guardians/Indians pitchers now, going back decades, who are the best pitchers on the team and choke in the playoffs. Starting with Jose Mesa 97, CC Sabathia 2007, I believe Kluber had some bad playoff outings, and now we have Clase blowing it. You simply can’t expect any more from the rest of the team in this situation tonight coming back from being down by 4.

Cleveland: Random Development and News
Hollywood movies or big Silicon Valley tech projects, and really any big project, often use code names, prototype names, or nicknames when something is in development. That is what Opportunity Corridor is intended to be. It’s literally the name some transportation planner used when they put the first study together. The fact that nobody bothered to give it a real name when it became a reality is due to the magnificent leadership of perhaps the worst ever marketer in the history of politics, Mayor Frank G. Jackson. He thought he was so virtuous because he didn’t care about his image or looking slick but it hurt so much of the city’s self-image and national image simply because nobody was doing anything at all in that department.

Brook Park: New Cleveland Browns Stadium
happened in DC with a big announcement that the wizards and capitals were going to Virginia. They had a big photo op with the governor and everything. Then backed out and announced they’re staying in downtown DC and renovating the arena.

Brook Park: New Cleveland Browns Stadium
Haslam is a snake and deserving of zero sympathy. Entitled, crooked, egotistical, and also downright stupid in his personnel decisions.

Brook Park: New Cleveland Browns Stadium
A TIF is a complicated mechanism but essentially the economics are 15-30 years of relief from property taxes and an upfront boost in borrowing capacity. In the grand scheme of a stadium project, it’s a drop in the bucket. You can’t barely make a dent in the capital stack from a TIF, and a TIF is probably all Brook Park can offer.

Great idea. I actually am in DC currently and just saw one of these at DuPont Circle.

Lakewood: Downtown: CASTO Development
Me neither and I’ve been to several city meetings about the issue. I didn’t get the impression that the grocer gave much reasoning for backing out.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
Yeah, they truly mortgaged the entire future of the franchise on this guy. And the team was already good and had a promising future!

Cleveland Browns Discussion
This whole thing has just been so entirely predictable, from the minute they gave guaranteed money to a guy who had missed a season and was going to be suspended for another basically whole season. And yet all the talk radio buffoons and DraftKings bros assured me it was a great move. They were too deep in the sports media bubble to see what was plainly obvious from the beginning. Moral questions aside, what an idiotic decision.

Ohio Congressional Redistricting / Gerrymandering
That is good to hear. There’s, in my mind, a strange lack of yard signs here in Lakewood this time around compared to 2020 and even compared to last years’ ballot issues. I figured for Kamala it was maybe because the candidate changed but I was wondering what was going on with this redistributing amendment.

Cleveland Burke Lakefront Airport
"The government won't let us close Burke" has become gospel in much the same way that "Cleveland Browns Stadium was built quickly and cheaply" is becoming gospel. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure the FAA is a pain in the butt. But I think a coordinated effort to lobby the agency and/or congress to close the airport would take time but would ultimately succeed - there just needs to be the will to do it among local leaders, who mostly have had other problems to worry about up til now.

Ohio Congressional Redistricting / Gerrymandering
Where is the campaign on this ballot issue? Are things going to ramp up? I've seen constant Sherrod Brown / Bernie Moreno ads, including on YouTube/streaming services, but nothing for Yes on Issue 1. I've been basically confident this will pass, but not if there's no campaign to get the word out or yard signs or anything.

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
I personally am a fan of the view from the near northeast neighborhoods near the lakefront if you can get up high. The roof of the Ariel International Center is really cool or even the view from the fishing area at Gordon Park. I always feel like the city looks bigger and more impressI’ve from there.

Cleveland: Downtown: Huntington Bank Field
The point is not so much that they should base decisions on it, and more that the losses (and Deshaun embarrassment) are going to weaken Jimmy’s hand. What a shame.

Meanwhile in Tampa there’s a quarterback named Baker Mayfield who had a great week.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
This is it right here for me. As much as it is a Deshaun Watson story for the crimes he likely committed, in my mind I always go back to that it’s a Jimmy Haslam story. And this is the same guy now begging the public for a handout. Haslam has been a complete disaster, send him back to Tennessee, I’d take Randy Lerner over this clown any day. I don’t really admit this publicly but in my heart of hearts I’ve been kind of hoping for this to all blow up in his face like it now is. I can’t really say I want the team to win with Watson at the helm. And I hate that. Nick Chubb and Miles Garrett and so many of the other guys deserved so much better.

Cleveland Heights: Development and News
Cleveland has a need for this type of live music venue. People used to come from all over to go to Nighttown. Allegedly they were eventually going to bring back the music, sounds like they never did.

Cleveland: Downtown: Huntington Bank Field
Agree that city limits are far from the most important issue here. It is a brownfield/infill site in what is an urban area for all intents and purposes. Not sure that the revenue impact on the city is all that great if the team moves. The question is does it hurt downtown or help downtown, or is it neutral.

Cleveland Burke Lakefront Airport
They already had a large lakefront park in Grant Park which is easier to get to, right next to downtown, and not accessible only from a small land bridge as Northerly is. A Burke park wouldn’t be set up the same way. So in the context of Chicago you’re not completely off base but I don’t think it invalidates anything with Burke.

Cleveland: Downtown: Huntington Bank Field
I can honestly see both sides of the argument as far as the location of the stadium. Financing is another story. But I can tell you this, I don’t trust the Haslams one bit.

Cleveland: Downtown: Huntington Bank Field
from what I have heard, the other NFL owners really don’t want to allow that to ever happen again, because they want to protect their fiefdom, so they have a bunch of rules now that would make it much harder for a city to ever do that again.

Ohio Congressional Redistricting / Gerrymandering
Being accountable to the public is definitely a can of worms they don’t want to open up.

Ohio Congressional Redistricting / Gerrymandering
Yeah, it’s pretty unconscionable.
