Place to live between Mentor and Solon
I drove though Willoughby last weekend, it looks like there are 2 separate buildings with apartments upstairs, but i only saw one name. "Bond Building Apartments" but i didnt see a phone #. I may have to stop by during lunch one day and check it out. JEJ, I just looked up that area on google, looks like a nice area and is pretty close to 271. Im going to look further into Willoughby since its so close to work but if that doesnt work out i'll shoot ya a message.

Place to live between Mentor and Solon
Thanks again all, i'll have to check these places out this weekend. I think Mentor is closer to Solon than downtown Cleveland is, so even if we end up closer to Mentor my girlfriend will still end up with a shorter commute. Plus her car gets great gas mileage so she'll be fine. Downtown Willoughby is only like 5 miles from my work, so that'd be ideal :) But i definitely plan to check on Chagrin Falls this weekend

Place to live between Mentor and Solon
Thanks for all the replies everyone. KJP that's a great review, the pictures are really nice! There are at least 2 people I work with that line in Chagrin Falls and I think i've driven through when out exploring a time or two. "Punch", i'd love to get something near the lake, but that's probably going to be far from Solon. I looked at some cool condo's in Willowick that are new and right on the lake, but they were pretty pricey. I guess i'd say i want something newer, or at least renovated. I dont want to be able to hear my neighbors brushing their teeth each morning and it seems older buildings can be pretty drafty with the winter winds around here. I'd like to be close to some type of shopping center, Giant eagle, restaurants etc... Im right next to E. 4th street now and it's nice being able to just walk around the corner and have so many dining options, but getting to a walmart or Giant eagle is a bit of a pain

Place to live between Mentor and Solon
Hello everyone. I've been living in Ohio for about 7 months now on a 9 month lease. I like living downtown, but i work in Mentor and my girlfriend works in Solon. The commute is adding up with my low mpg so I'm thinking of moving closer to Mentor, the extra time will be nice as well. I've gone to a happy hour or two at Ballantine's in Willoughby, and when coming out one night i noticed what appeared to be apartments above the buildings on downtown (Willoughby). Im not sure what the place is called, does anyone know anything about these apts? Also considering other places between Solon and Mentor. Beachwood etc... Im not sure if i'm ready to rent a house just yet. Mowing, maintenance and higher utilities to get extra room that i just don't need; howeverI have yet to see many cool looking apartments out that way. Anyone have some suggestions?? Thanks!

Cleveland – Euclid 668
I moved to Cleveland in late August and when i called them in July they told me there was 1 unit available. I then called back a couple days later and it was gone... They then put me on "the list" but i've never gotten an email or call since then. I think they have enough people calling or walking in that taking the time to go through the waiting list every time a unit becomes available is not worth it. If someone was on the list for 6 months and a unit comes up, chances are when they call that person up and say we've got a unit, that person has already committed to another lease elsewhere. I'm sure there's a list, but my guess is it keeps getting added to and rarely subtracted from.

Where to live in Clevland, Single, 30 something Male, no kids. Looking for nice
Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! We had dinner on E 4th last night at a Mexican restaurant which we thought was really good. Then we spent today mostly walking around. My girlfriend hadnt seen the lake yet, so we walked towards the Browns stadium, went to that Mathews boat museum, walked through the Science Center and then came home. We then headed to Beachwood mall, then went to a Home Depot and Walmart, then drove around a bit. Then we spent the evening with more unpacking but i think we're 95% done now. So far everything has been great and we're loving it! Im up for meeting anyone for lunch, we dont know anyone here so it'd be great to make some new friends. Next week will likely be pretty crazy with the new jobs, but maybe we can meet up over labor day weekend!

Hey everyone, we made it to Cleveland this morning!!! Everything is moved in and we love it! We still need to unpack but we have all weekend for that. Im really excited how close everything is. I mean i expected it to be fairly close but it's literally around the corner to E 4th street! They're setting up some canopies in what i guess is the public square area? So i assume there's something going on there tonight which we'll probably check out. Also while the movers were up stairs with some boxes, i was guarding the truck. I had 4 different people ask me if i needed any help and all were very friendly, this was about 11am Friday morning. Anyway just wanted to thank everyone for the input. Moving to a city i had never been to, and into a complex i had never seen was a bit scary but it has all turned out great so far, so thanks!!!

Yea i thought the 9month thing was weird, hopefully they dont Jack it up come renewal time. Im trying to look at the positive. I get a shorter term lease at non additional expense. So just in case i dont like it, thats 3 less months of dealing with it :) Oh and "DRIVE" your pm inbox is full! :D

lol oh man i should take that picture down! I was also surprised at the 9month lease but she came right out and said she wants it available when the warm weather comes around next year. Maybe that's just in case i leave? I mean she might be able to get a bit more rent out of it at that time but then has to incur the maintenance and cleaning costs of me leaving etc.. I guess we'll see when that time rolls around. So are these buddy parking spaces tight? She asked what my girlfriend and i drive which makes me think they must be pretty small

Thanks again for all the comments everyone. I just paid the reserve fee at WT and just submitted the applications so looks like that's where i'll be. the unit at WT has a courtyard view and doesnt overlook or even face Euclid, so im hoping i wont hear much of it while im inside. ~Drive, were those pictures from your unit? Looks like a great view! They mentioned a unit on the 4th floor had opened up, i assume the people you saw moving out Friday. My girlfriend wanted the courtyard though, i think the 4th floor would have had a better view and more sunlight but oh well. They only want to do a 9 month lease so it'll be available in the summer time next year. Good weather + courtyard probably equals higher rent. I guess i'll get to find out when renewal time comes around :(

Donna at the Osborn has been extremely helpful. We spoke on the phone 2 or 3 times yesterday, so far the service has been great. The unit i was looking at is #407. The living room faces south and the bedroom windows face north into that wedge shaped area. After searching "Osborn" i found another thread where someone mentioned the loitering and an "incident" that occurred across the street a while back? I dont want to seem snobby, but the last thing i want to see or hear all night is a bunch of people sitting on the sidewalk drinking. Im not sure it would even be like that, but considering i am going to sign a lease without even touring the property, i am admittedly overly sensitive to any of the negatives. One negative i have seen about WT Grant on youtube videos and on Google street view is at one point apparently there was a lot of construction being done on Euclid. I assume it is now complete as there are some google street views that show no construction. Anyone know if all that is now completed? I know some street view images are several years old, so just thought i'd ask. I do appreciate the input McCleveland, I wish this was an easier decision!

Ok guys, I really appreciate all of the help. I'm somewhat in between the Osborn and WT Grant. What are your thoughts on the two? *666 Eulid (FULL) *Euclid Block (no units available by Aug 27th) *WT Grant Lofts: +Very close to East 4th St +Parking for 2 cars is attached +Washer & Dryer included in unit -Courtyard view, seems like a hole in the middle of the building. You cant see anything but the courtyard *Osborn Apartments +Nice interiors +Bay window is nice, street view -Apparently across from a section 8 complex -Further from E. 4th St -1 parking spot in building, other across street -Not sure about washer and dryer in unit? The Pointe at Gateway +Relatively close to E 4th St -Kitchen looks dated in rental units -All parking is across the street ~I guess after listing out all of the pros/cons i answered my own question. Looks like I'm still preferring WT Grant but would still like to hear other opinions.
