Cleveland Guardians Discussion
Ticket prices are insane. Third party tickets for standing room only are approaching the thousand dollar mark!

Spur of the moment trip to Cincy?
Thanks Jimmy james. Findlay mkt is on my list, especially after hearing about Eli's. Hopefully the weather will be nice enough for biking, but I'm dreading the hills.

Spur of the moment trip to Cincy?
Japps, huh. I do love a good bourbon and fernet. Maybe the Clevelander will have a Toronto while basking in Cincinnati.

Spur of the moment trip to Cincy?
I've heard raves of Jeff Ruby's. The Columbia Tusculum neighborhood looks very nice too.

Spur of the moment trip to Cincy?
It looks like my gf and I will take a quickie road trip to Cincy. I'm hereby poaching recommendations. I haven't booked the hotel yet, but it will be downtown. I appreciate good beer and am looking forward to Tafts ale house. I've been to the brewery at the Party Source...8 something? That was nice. Any neighborhood small breweries or taphouses, preferably in Mt. Adams or OTR? Also, any recommendations on upscale dining would be appreciated, steakhouses in particular. I'll only be there the 24th and 25th of this month. I'll check event listings for concerts and comedy clubs.

Ohio: Brewery & Alcohol Industry
I ordered 2 bottles of Sink the Bismarck a few years back...40% abv. Surprisingly, the hop character really popped out, but far too boozy. Good news for Columbus.

Has anyone seen the Jackass Tribute to Ryan Dunn- I'm wondering if Johnny Knoxville's interview was in the hotel at the Arcade as it overlooks E. 4th?

Pinched a nerve in my neck last year while shoveling snow. The sad thing is there was maybe an inch or 2 of snow on the ground. That pinched nerve took 4 months to fully heal after rounds of physical therapy and a steady stream of muscle relaxers, anti-inflammatory and painkillers.

Dayton: UD and Oregon
My old Alma Mater has seen quite a few changes since I've last been back in 1997. Nice set.

Community Development Corporations
Thank you for the clarification. As far as the reduction in CDC’s, on the near west side we’ve already begun to see this- Stockyards Clark Fulton Brooklyn Centre has merged with Detroit Shoreway, I would venture to guess Cudell and Tremont West could be the next CDC’s to merge with Detroit Shoreway. IMO it makes sense to have the smaller, perhaps not quite as well managed CDC join forces with a more productive CDC. Reason being- bigger pot of CDBG allocation to use for community development initiatives, also with the smaller CDC’s being absorbed by the bigger more productive CDC, the management staff, in theory, should be more competent and have less employees than the sum of all combined CDCs and their employees- thereby having more $ to spend on community development initiatives. On the flip side, a larger CDC covering more neighborhoods would also have a bigger board of directors. Of course with that comes more personalities and ideas of where the money should go. Politics really comes into play at this extreme low level…the neighborhood level. That’d be another con. However, the benefits of a smaller CDC covering more geography outweighs the cons, imo.
