^^ he could always resort to Budweiser
  2. here's the report back from the Captains game- unfortunately the game was delayed twice before being postponed to a later date. However, I still had a great time at the stadium. Very family friendly- free face painting and free balloon animals for kids, Spongebob and the mascot were always walking around offering up photo opps. The team shop is very affordable...unlike the Jake. All seats were great- we had the furthest seats from the field in our section and still it was so close. Great beer selection- who knew a single A team's stadium carried the likes of Lindemanns Lambics, Rare VOS, Breckenridge, Guinness and Great Lakes....wow the bad: having never really spending any time in Eastlake, I found the city to be the east side suburbs answer to Parma. Parma has a mall, Eastlake has a stadium, other than that no differences.
  3. Cincinnati, like Cleveland, has suffered staggering losses in population over the years. Our cities are still structured as if there were 750K+ residents and hence we still have the "amenities" of that of a large city. Really these amenities are nothing more than cost suckers that make for great political posturing. Of course it makes sense to make fire deployment more efficient by closing stations, but local leaders will never entertain the false notion of compromising the safety of their citizens by doing so.
  4. legislation that will GIVE money to panhandlers- how ridiculously absurd! That wouldn't solve the problem either.
  5. I'll be checking out the Lake County Captains game tomorrow. Has anyone been to this venue? It sounds like all seats are great. But what I'm really wondering is where to get a great beer before the game. I'm thinking maybe Grovewood tavern or perhaps Willoughby Brewpub....thoughts or suggestions
  6. ^ if you ever visit SSP you know who miketoronto is....for as annoying as he is online, he is actually a great guy in person and he loves to showcase his city. I'll be in Toronto with the girlfriend and she couldn't give a rats ass about admiring the urban fabric of a cosmopolitan city- she'd rather drink cosmopolitans while admiring fabric. But I do want to check out the Beaches, Yorkville, and LittleItalyToronto.
  7. Excellent...I love Toronto; the exchange rate is depressing though. I'll be there in two days!!
  8. Great shots of the big city!
  9. no worries mrnyc- its just good natured ribbing on my fellow UD alum
  10. Thanks I just checked it out- it looks very nice. Did you notice the train in the first pic resembles the Calgary C-train. I hope the rolling stock on the red line doesn't change to something like that.
  11. I gotta agree with Colday on this one....Father Guido Sarducci sucks. Nice pics KJP. I used to pick up the red line at the E. 120th station. Now I pick it up 270 blocks to the west. Have you heard any news on when the W. 150th station is slated for rehab?
  12. tough to watch this team....a sweep in Cinci...ouch...well I guess it can't get any worse.
  13. It's a friggin 5 star hotel. You people in Cleveland must be pretty d@mn modest because if this happend in Cincinnati we would all be jumping up and down and saying it's AMAZING news followed by claims that this is proof we are the best midwestern city. nice one David
  14. its the neighborhood I lived in when I signed on with SSP about 8 yrs ago
  15. Yeah the Jake is tops! If only Crooked River were still around and had a vend stand.
  16. ^ its not like your missing out on anything by not having been there before
  17. ^ sounds like the Buckeye Beer Engine is close to you...now there's a good draft list, plus it appears to be family friendly.
  18. ewww Dewey's pizza....I've had bad pizza and really bad pizza- Dewey's falls somewhere in between.
  19. Ohhh .... the inferior complexities are bountiful in this thread! ;) you are so right ;)
  20. great...this will surely cause :cough: "work related" :cough: injuries. So now the City can look forward to increases with workers comp and overtime expenses....great

I have a lager fermenting in a glass carboy down in the basement as we speak.
  22. Exactly ... Look at Cleveland, Columbus, St. Louis, Atlanta's, etc. comments and tell me the pattern you see ... All of these city's suck, right ... well yeah... with of course the exception of Columbus...they have a Cheesecake Factory.
  23. I know...I too am a cheeky bastard that gets kicks off of razzing people- don't ever take me seriously. Regarding the Simpsons- I believe it was the Hullabalooza episode where Cinci and Cleve got snubbed... art imitating reality.
