  1. I do know of a business closing. Greg's Antiques on Main St. has been auctioning off their inventory of antiques, art & architectural items. I was told the owners will be focusing on their gardening business. I got the impression they aren't staying in the building which is sharp. Open first floor, very high ceilings. Hate to admit IDK what type it is. It says "The Woodward" on the front.
  2. It's been so long, I forget this site was considered for Playhouse in the Park. I guess that has been put on hold, but maybe the Banks can be part of that conversation.
  3. ^I'm surprised how little press this has gotten, at least in the south western part of the state. It will be interesting how the ® state gov. handles it. What's a little earthquake and toxic drinking water when there's money to be made(at least for the 1%).

Thanks for the shots. I deal with this everyday. Sorry to see the cement supports replacing steel. I still can't figure out how it's going to connect to Elberon and Warsaw.
  5. If someone could ask him when they plan on buying the Terrace Plaza hotel. They just bought the Ritz-Carlton in Cleveland. I'd like to think they'll do something similar here.

So any love for the epic Lulu. It's getting terrible reviews but I think it's fantastic. Nearly 90 minutes of Lou's filthy lyrics matched with Metallica's big riffage. Junior Dad is a powerhouse. I get a kick out of metalheads freaking out. With Lulu and Opeth's non-cookie monster new album. They all need group therapy.
  7. This is fantastic. Good fun.
  8. Rumour Time. By January 2012, Southwest Airlines will be starting service out of CVG. This has been making the rounds on the West side of town.
  9. That PDF is helpful. The top is a "Spun Aluminum Canopy". Though it doesn't explain the small metal rod on top of the canopy. Then a "Yellow Globe". Which is really sharp, a design highlight. Standard 202W, 120V, Clear Street Lighting Lamp. 202W is standard? I guess in the world of traffic lighting it is. Then a "3" to 2" Pipe Reducer. I guess that's the brace for the shade holder. Though I don't see that in my photos.
  10. Way back(2-3 years) there was either a discussion or a thread about what type of lights the pictures below show. I can't remember if it was ever answered. So here they are; all on the Westside, a series of three all within a quarter mile of each other, two on the same intersection. All of them are where pedestrians go to cross the street. They give off very little light and seem to be very old, but yet seem to still be maintained. There's plently of towering streetlights also nearby. They're quite nice to look at up close. Some ornamental metal. Great textured shade. Looks like something missing on the very top. So who can shed some light on these(pun intended)?

That's sharp. It makes for a nice desktop. But is that considered a real map. It reminded me of the the Visionaries and Voices artist Courttney Cooper, who does these over-the-top pen drawings of the city. By hand I think. http://www.visionariesandvoices.com/content/vv-courttney-cooper
  12. No way!! I thought this was dead in the water. Impressive. Navy approves submarine's move to Cincinnati USS Cincinnati finally coming to port as veteran's memorial Seventeen years ago, Cincinnati City Council unanimously supported the idea to acquire the decommissioned USS Cincinnati, a Cold War nuclear-powered submarine - and finally the Navy has offered its blessing. The plan is to use the sub's conning tower sail structure - the T-shaped top section of a submarine that's last to disappear into the water - as the focal point in a veteran's memorial at Smale Riverfront Park near The Banks development. 13. Terrible. Who did the counting, the Florida Elections Commission.

Power of Twitter: Cosart being called up, Rentenia DFA'd. Willis to pitch Sunday. Voleguez shipped to Mars.
  15. They pushed back the announcement: "2011 This Place Matters Community Challenge UPDATE: Announcement delayed until Wednesday, July 6th at 5:00 pm. An important part of the contest process is to validate the votes according to the contest rules. Due to the overwhelming number of votes that were cast in this year’s Community Challenge, our vote validation process is taking much longer than expected. Given the July 4th holiday and the technical requirements involved, we ask for your patience as we complete the validation process"
  16. Wow, I had no idea they made so much progress. Opening in Fall 2011!! They need to bring Biden back.
  17. I really hope the Terrace Hotel reopens. My unprofessional opinion is the Horseshoe Casino will buy it and do a top to bottom restore. Caesars kinda knows the hotel biz.
  18. Enquirer now has a video. The parking garage is bigger than the casino. At least there's lots of green space, err surface parking.
  19. Dang, The Preservation Society of Newport County came out of nowhere.
  20. Ouch, OTR dropped to third. I'm going to see if I can get my KY co-workers to jump on board.
  21. It's got my 2 votes(home/work). It would be ironic if the $$ will be used to save 1314 Vine St.

i.e. Drive Thru? As a life long Cincinnatian I never figured out their appeal. I see cars go in them at all hours of the day. Even driving to work in the morning. People just got to have their 6-pack of diet Coke. It's a strange concept. Never thought of it being unique to Cincy, but I haven't really noticed them on trips.
  23. Do they get gold pants? ;-)

Kmart and Sears has to be the worst combo. I remember reading about the hedge fund takeover and it was a pure money grab. It involved huge bank loans. Like most hedge funds, they pile on the debt, take their cut then leave. Unless MTS buys his shoes there I can't see a future for either.

I don't get the excitement. Sears is a dying brand. Currently owned by a hedge fund. It could disappear tomorrow. The Gov must like the idea that Edward Lampert only pays 15% on this "income".
