The "Apple Macintosh" Discussion Thread
Congrats. It will be interesting to see how it gets used in the long term. I heard it called a family device, where it would get passed around the household depending on who is doing what. I see it being used a lot for web surfing while watching TV and checking fantasy baseball while watching games, etc. People have complaint it doesn't multi-task, but people will probably be doing several things at once while using it.

Cincinnati: General Business & Economic News
I'm a fan too. I've always had good phone and internet service. I bring this up because I just did an online survey and it was about CB's new Fiber-optic service. Sounds like they're planning on a broader roll-out. It was about potential packages and what I would be willing to pay. They had a phone/net/cable deal that was very attractive.

Remke is keeping the "real" Westside stores. ;-) I, too enjoy that Remke is sticking it to Mason and West Chester. Colerain and Harrison are too far west for me. My KY co-workers love Remke. I'll get to find out soon enough. The two Westside stores are barely two/three miles from each other. Remke will purchase the following bigg’s stores: * 3240 Highland Ave., Columbia Township. * 5071 Glencrossing Way, Westwood. * 5218 Beechmont Ave., Anderson Township. * 3872 Paxton Ave., Oakley. * 9600 South Mason-Montgomery Road, Mason. * 5025 Delhi Road, Delhi Township. biggs stores closing * 4450 Eastgate Blvd., Union Township. * 10501 New Haven Road, Harrison. * 8340 Colerain Ave. Colerain Township. * 4824 Union Center Blvd., West Chester. * 4874 Houston Road, Florence.

A nifty overview of the CRP progress. At the 1:47, the Project Manager mentions a hotel!? Did he misspoke? I didn't think a hotel was in the first phrase. What Progress! Spring 2010 Cincinnati Riverfront Park Construction Update

FWIW driving in from the Westside, Carew "looks" substantially taller than QCS. Even when the Tiara is added, Carew will stand tall. It even looks a little chubby.

NEONS Unplugged needs your help on the Jukebox selections
I'm late to the game, but how about Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Otis Redding, Ohio Players? As for local, certainly Afghan Whigs, but how about Twlight Singers, The Bears, The Raconteurs, Midnight Star. Somewhat modern; Spoon, The Black Keys, Buzzcocks, Joe Strummer(Clash singer) & the Mescaleros Classic - where's ACDC, man! Or Blind Faith, Dire Straits, ABBA

It's not dead yet. Mallory in DC asking for money By Peter Urban • [email protected] • February 24, 2010 WASHINGTON - Cincinnati Mayor Mark Mallory is in Washington asking Ohio lawmakers to include $22.6 million in the 2011 federal budget for six city projects that he said are his "top line" priorities for the city. The six projects in order of importance, he said, are: $6.6 million to continue construction of the Central Riverfront park. $5.8 million for design and engineering work for decks over Fort Washington Way. . . . ^That would be nice. There's a casino in PA, (near Pittsburgh?) that had a pretty cool industrial vibe. Exposed mechanicals, high ceilings, etc.

I think those pics are pretty sweet. My knees would turn to jello if I was up there. And at least they weren't trying to steal copper.

Cincinnati: Brent Spence Bridge
Really a shame we can't post the images. I'm partial to ". . . a cable-stayed bridge with one main vertical support tower near the Ohio side of the river." It looks really dramatic. Though I prefer the bridge doesn't get painted white. I guess it's too late to lose the Brent Spense altogether. www.brentspencebridgecorridor.com doesn't even have the images up yet.

Cincinnati: Historic Preservation
I believe this gentleman is hiding out here. j/k. Kudos, really! Group: City demolishing historic homes By Steve Kemme • [email protected] • February 1, 2010 SOUTH FAIRMOUNT - A Cincinnati neighborhood group believes salvageable buildings with historical value are getting bulldozed in the city's push to get rid of blighted properties. The Knox Hill Neighborhood Association in South Fairmount has filed a federal complaint about Cincinnati's review process for placing buildings on the public nuisance and demolition lists. The group, headed by historic preservation consultant Paul Willham, says the city process for reviewing potentially historical properties that could be demolished with federal funds violates U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development regulations by failing to give the public a sufficient opportunity to comment. Cincinnati Bengals Discussion
Congrats to Marvin Lewis. It was a rollercoaster ride for the AFC North Champs. They have great foundation to build from. Lewis a deserving Coach of the Year But unlike most awards, this year's voting went deeper than standings and statistics. It was about tragedy and the ability to lead an entire organization through some of the toughest situations imaginable. I can get behind this idea. I always liked boxing. I remember watching matches at the Gardens(late 80s) and Cintas. Don't really care for the MMA. Rep. Mallory: Put ‘Vegas-style’ boxing arena at new casino Posted by cweiser December 10th, 2009, 8:57 am Rep. Dale Mallory, a West End Democrat and brother of mayor Mark, wants to see a “Las Vegas” style boxing arena at Cincinnati’s new casino. (He says he’ll talk to Penn National about it, but Penn National won’t own Cincinnati’s casino – Quicken Loans/Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert will.)
