  1. ^great article. I enjoyed this bit . . . "Which brings me to the current landscape of our dining scene, as this front page story has ignited a firestorm of commentary, ranging from the slightly more informed blogosphere to the usual quasi-closeted klavern of ingorami at the Enquirer comments page. While some ignorant rube exurbanites have predictably weighed in with ill-informed comments about why they won't set foot in the city and how this is just further proof of downtown's "decline," I'm not interested in educating the Applebee's/Outback frequent dining cardholder about the finer aspects of the city's dining scene.
  2. The only good thing about about the Steeler win was the shout out Rooney gave Obama. Doesn't he know Obama's going get him with the "death tax". ;-)
  3. Nice to hear they're still thinking about the decks over Fort Washington Way.
  4. ^Someone can correct me, but I believe you can contact 3CDC directly and make an offer on one of their properties. If you measure up, they may sell you one of theirs. 3CDC teams up with a group of developers but they can sell to anyone. 3CDC isn't in the business to make money. Just in turning OTR into a viable neighborhood.
  5. I think Turfway is easier to get to for Westsiders. If they get any form a gambling there, it's over for River Downs.
  6. I'm not sure if this has been posted. The Enquirer has an interactive feature along with those articles. Interactive usually means a pdf file to Enquirer. Along with the map, this has videos that interviews various stakeholders. http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20090123/FLASH/301230111/1055/NEWS
  7. Burning Coal at Home Is Making a Comeback By TOM ZELLER Jr. and STEFAN MILKOWSKI Published: December 26, 2008 SUGARLOAF, Pa. — Kyle Buck heaved open the door of a makeshift bin abutting his suburban ranch house. Staring at a two-ton pile of coal that was delivered by truck a few weeks ago, Mr. Buck worried aloud that it would not be enough to last the winter. “I think I’m going through it faster than I thought I would,” he said. Aptly, perhaps, for an era of hard times, coal is making a comeback as a home heating fuel. Tom Zeller Jr. reported from Sugarloaf, Pa., and Stefan Milkowski from Fairbanks, Alaska. 8. I don't think you can dismiss PHX. They have played some tough defenses already, Carolina and Philly. Their on a serious roll. I'm expecting a competitive game. The only thing I root for with the Steelers is a plane crash.
  9. I don't think so. They are in a few major cities though. http://www.foxsportsgrill.com/locations.aspx

I've never seen Ellen before now, honest, but I thought this was cool. That photo she gave him is an all-time classic.
  11. I'll put my vote in for a FOX Sports Grill. It's like an upscale Vegas sportsbook with a bar in the middle, lounge area, good size dining room, and a shop.
  12. ^Dare I say that's were the big bad government comes in and provides some bridge financing. Of course pure capitalism is the only way the USA can function or it's evil socialism.
  13. 5th street exit from Cincy is scary if your not used to how short and down hill it is. There are still plenty of backups/accidents that aren't Brent Spence's fault. How is that going to be addressed?
  14. Cool. Though the drive to Dayton isn't that bad. I've gotten used to it unfortunately.

And they named a highway after this guy. It's still an utopia out there at half the price. 17. ^^Cost Plus is World Market, right. I liked that placed. It always had interesting items. Might had to stock up on wine and rugs from India.
  18. I wouldn't be surprise if they aren't being very deliberate with construction. There is a recession going on. It's probably very tricky figuring out when to finish phase 1 and having residents renting and companies leasing. I understand the steel industry is hurting. I can only hope the Banks and QCSII are capitalizing on what should be a buyers market for steel.
  19. Credit Unions seem to get little respect. Too blue collar, too customer friendly, not maximizing their profits to the 10 degree. It's kind of a shame. I used to belong to Kemba several years ago. I still might be member for all I know.
  20. ^I take it your referring to Cincinnati Financial. What a waste to have their HQ in no-mans land Fairfield. How many QCS II could they fill in DT Cincy, one and half, maybe

Here's an example of why I don't get the end is near, thanks to peak oil. There's just no way these alternatives can save the day? 50 years seems to be the time frame. Sounds like they're well on their way with jet fuel. Someone mentioned Mexico will run out of oil in 12-18 months. That should be a good test to the theory. If their wrong, we'll make them fight the drug kingpins with a pop gun. Airline Flies a 747 on Fuel From a Plant By BETTINA WASSENER, Published: December 30, 2008 Air New Zealand tested a jet fuel made from the jatropha plant on Tuesday as the airline searches for an affordable and environmentally friendly alternative to crude oil. Unlike other biofuel crops like soybeans and corn, jatropha needs little water or fertilizer and can be grown almost anywhere — even in sandy, saline or otherwise infertile soil. Each seed produces 30 to 40 percent of its mass in oil, giving it a high per-acre yield, specialists said. The International Air Transport Association, which represents 230 airlines, wants its members to use 10 percent alternative fuels by 2017. The association has the goal that airlines will be able to fly carbon-free in 50 years, with the help of technologies like fuel cells and solar energy. 22. That was ugly. They had their opportunities. Though the pre-game show had some nice cincy-related profiles. I liked the comment that Mt. Adams should be changed to Mt. Kelly.
  23. Nice. I like the modern stuff.
  24. It will eventually maybe by 2012, but it will be a separate system that will connect to this one. There is an "airport" stop . . then you take a bus from there to the airport. I didn't have the nerve to try it on my flight home Sunday. I may attempt it next time I'm there.
