^^I don't know if that is really accurate. Minor league baseball has a large loyal following. I believe Dayton routinely sell out as does the Louisville RiverBats. They're big events in those cities. A lot people enjoy watching young players develop. I've gone to a few RiverBats' games, but I only go since their Reds-affiliated teams.

^That is cool. This could be the best TV show ever! ;-)
  3. I hope they have transportation to visit DT. Oh wait, they all get Benz's.

foxalphafilms.com is involved. That would explain that mystery banner on fourth street, right? I might be tempted if I can get out work on time. It might rain too.
  5. Maybe this is why the newer developments don't "engage or pay any attention to the surrounding area". Wait sec., a yuppie from Bellevue, or were you the yuppie?

Armed Invasion To Take Over Fountain Square Film Shoot To Shut Down Square, Vine Street POSTED: 11:06 pm EDT July 28, 2008, UPDATED: 11:16 pm EDT July 28, 2008 CINCINNATI -- An armed invasion will take over Fountain Square on Wednesday evening. But people shouldn’t be alarmed; it’s all just an act. Actors, extras and members of the film crew for the television pilot show “Jaded,” will film the scene from 6 to 11 p.m. The director told News 5 that the show could hit the airwaves this fall. 7. "Cincinistas" - I got to remember that one. Good article.
  8. I know these images have been posted before. But after looking at these jumbo sizes, the renderings are growing on me. There's details I haven't noticed before. I thought this was the weakest of the bunch, but after seeing GABP peaking though down the street. I think these buildings are a good fit. This was my favorite and still is. It almost has a warehouse vibe. A bit of art deco touches always does it. I hope Hamilton County adds more renderings. http://www.hamiltoncountyohio.gov/hc/banks/renderings.asp

^The chart on the bottom right is interesting. China and India get mentioned a lot for being part of the problem. They're nowhere near as glutenous as the US. If they reach our levels, watch out. I wonder how long other countries can keep their fuel subsidies. Those governments could be at the breaking point. Any idea where Europe and Russia would fall. Somewhere in the middle I'm sure.
  10. They need to add a bubble machine and have Ho Don singing Tiny Bubbles on repeat.

It's the opposite. The minor leagues have much tougher drug testing since they are NOT covered by the MLB union. MLB can pretty much write their own rules. I believe they even banned that nasty chewing tobacco in the minors. Something about cancer of the tongue, gums, jaw, etc.
  12. Are you sure you have the right guy? I believe he is one the bigger opponents of the streetcar. This is from Feb 2008. Has he changed his tune? "One of the top voices opposing Cincinnati's proposed streetcar system behind-the-scenes is Joseph Pichler, the retired Kroger CEO who is vice chairman of 3CDC's board of directors, political and business sources say." http://blogs.citybeat.com/porkopolis/2008/02/readers-cry-fou.html
  13. ^^I read this article too getting all excited thinking Cincy got their first strip club. One reader posted a clip that shows the inside of the place. Beds are made for jumping. Nothing more. This place has "David" written all over it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jPAg2af7BUg
  14. This is pretty cool. DT great, WC evil. Viewers Reach Out To King's Island Students Reported by: Hagit Limor. Email: [email protected] Last Update: 7/23 8:16 pm A group of international students working the summer at Kings Island got a taste of Cincinnati this week, after a generous outpouring from viewers who saw the July 3 I-Team report about their living conditions and other complaints. The students from countries around the world complained they were stuck at a West Chester apartment complex undergoing renovations with no access to transportation, so they couldn't see any of Cincinnati or experience the culture they'd come here to learn. At Fountain Square, the students posed for photos before splitting into groups that enjoyed donated meals at restaurants including Palomino, The Oceanaire Seafood Room, Jeff Ruby's Steakhouse, Nicholson's, Via Vite and BlackFinn. Grasty says the students need to experience America. "Honestly, I believe the only way to spread peace in the world is through cultural understanding so I want them to understand that America is not what they've experienced so far. It's so much more." 15. A mobster that gets pushed out of his car by his wife? He needs to re-watch The Godfather and Scarface. I didn't know the Ruby/Bootsy place was under construction, that's great.
  16. Wasn't there a smokestack in the original plan? All smokestacks must be saved!
  17. Maybe if you posted the full article. ;-) Besides it's in Fairfield.
  18. is playing celebrity golf in Lake Tahoe. I had the pleasure of watching the final round on Sunday, 7/13. I couldn't believe who he was paired with. I was tempted to take a club and break a kneecap. Instead, I took a few pics. The American Century Championship was loaded with various celebs. Carson was by far the biggest draw. There weren't any OSU or Cleveland players. Organizers were only interested in players who attract fans greater than a 2 mile radius from where they play. The three QBs all hit the green. A certain QB walked on Carson's line, bastard. Probably a 30 ft putt, can he get it. OSU's offensive doesn't move the ball this far or get it in the hole. Birdie! This guy is terribly out of shape. Baggy clothes to hide the beer gut. A long hard season in his future. The man's man. Jokes and golf, I smell a new sitcom. This guy just got traded to the Redskins and he can dance like no other. "The Office" actor won't be back on the show. OSU Alum paid him a nice sum to join the offensive line. Plus the pleasure of getting smack in the ass by OSU players on a regular basis was too good to pass up. Truly has the worst swing in golf. I see OSU's golf team in his future.
  19. I think a SpringHill Suites is being built on Turfway Rd near the track. I thought it looked sharp. Kinda modern looking, brick was used. I'll try to snag a pic.
  20. I believe Dunkin Doughnuts will be opening soon. I read it cost a cool $1 million to build. And here I thought I could be a franchise owner one day. Here's pic from a few weeks ago.
  21. Anyone heard of this? Is there now an organized effort to bring it back to life? If it's half the size of Music Hall, that's 1300 seats which puts it in Taft Theater and Bogarts territory. This is the first I've heard of any such plans. Save the Emery When: Saturday, July 26, 2008 Time: 8:30:00 AM - 2:00:00 PM Location: Emery Theater - 1112 Walnut (Corner of Central Parkway and Walnut) Description: The Emery Theater, at the corner of Central Parkway and Walnut, was built in 1911 and is a half-scale Music Hall. Although it housed the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra many years ago, it has been unused for over a decade. As part of a larger effort to renovate and re-open the theater, Give Back Cincinnati will be giving the theater a much needed cleaning and painting. Check your calendar and sign up for the opportunity to do a fun project in a piece of Cincinnati history! Note: The Emery is an old building. Old buildings contain old paint and old paint may create dust containing lead. We will provide approved dust masks for all volunteers. If you are pregnant you may wish to consult your physician about lead paint exposure before attending the project. Click here for more information on lead paint. A history of the theater can be found at http://www.emerycenterapts.com/notabad.html. E-mail [email protected] with any questions. Sign up now to become part of an exciting event!
  22. Typical obnoxious OSU fan thinking Cincy is in their backyard. It's not.
  23. Carson is my hero. OSU isn't the state's football team. Certainly isn't mine. Who dey!

For some reason I can't post to the Cornhole Movie thread so enjoy the trailer here. I think parts of it were filmed in Cincy. If only some Hollywood type will see the light.
