Cincinnati: Downtown: Queen City Square
Oh, I don't know how tall our those ugly cell phone towers on those hills? I see them towering over the skyline coming in on 75N in KY. I'd much rather have building that tall. Also, it seems like the decisions makers in this city have a very narrow idea what they want built in the city and if a developer has project that doesn't fit their idea of a DT utopia it won't happen. I'm convince more more that there are people who would rather have nothing built if it doesn't fit their retro 1832 DT image of this city.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Smale Riverfront Park
<i>Seven years to finish?!!? It looks like they added a building or two. It hard to pass judgement on the new drawings since they aren't in context with the whole park</i> <b>New plans for riverfront park</b> Design drawings for the 52-acre Central Riverfront Park - the centerpiece of The Banks development - feature gardens, open lawns, walking paths, bike trails, pools, waterfalls, public art and new boating accommodations. NKY Auditor Sites?
Does anyone know if there are any websites that show property values in NKY? I take it Boone and Kenton would have their own sites. I haven't really found anything. Similar to Hamilton County's http://www.hamiltoncountyauditor.org/

Hollywood name drops Cincinnati
I recommend going to iTunes and search for "Cincinnati" There are all kinds of songs that pop up. Interesting to play the samples. A odd mix of blues, bluegrass, country, audio blogs, rap, etc. A real mixed bag, mostly unknown stuff. Dwight Yoakam has song. The best is The Distillers song "Cincinnati" which I bought. Their song rocks and it doesn't hurt that Brody Dalle is a (rock)babe.

Louisville, KY: Museum Plaza
It's amazing how overwhelming negative this building has be received. As someone earlier posted, I wonder if all these negative comments would be made if an Ohio city was receiving this gem. It looks to be filling a space that was empty before, underground parking, green space open to the public, the ultimate in mix use - museum, condos, hotel, and offices. Maybe they will add a Check n Go for that gritty feel. This building should be every one's wet dream.

Louisville, KY: Museum Plaza
Hang in there Drake. Most people on this forum prefer buildings that were preserved or restored from the civil war era. Modern is four letter word here. ;-) Personally, I could only dream of a building like this was built on Broadway Commons in Cincy. But there would be howls of protests. So we get surface lots.

It looks impressive. Go Louisville! (that's the only time you will hear that from me being die hard UC fan).

Cincinnati: West End: CityLink Center
<i>Sweet, maybe this beast will be stopped.</i> <b>City council votes 8-1 against CityLink</b> Cincinnati city council passed a resolution Wednesday against the one-stop social services shop proposed for the West End called CityLink – a 100,000-square-foot mall that would house a variety of social service operations.

Cincinnati: West End: CityLink Center
Can someone ask them why this project has to be so damn big? It would be bigger than the LA version they are basing this on. I read in the NYTimes that LA has over 40K homeless. Do they want this to become a regional shelter? BS

Ohio: General Business & Economic News
<i> I thought Cincinnati had just received some of these type of grants for the Clifton area. Hopefully, they can't be taken away. Though I know rich people need more tax cuts. ;-)</i> <b>Ohio Block Grants Struck By Proposed Federal Budget Cuts </b> Reported by: A.P. Web produced by: Neil Relyea Photographed by: 9News First posted: 2/6/2006 9:46:38 PM WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Bush proposed Monday to cut a popular community development grant program by about a quarter while asking two oversight committees in Congress led by Ohioans to change the way money is distributed to state and local governments. Bush's $2.77 trillion budget proposal for the year that starts Oct. 1 would spend more on the military and fighting terrorism while cutting many domestic programs. Despite the increase in military spending, Bush's budget would eliminate funding for the backup engine for a major jet fighter program, built mainly in Ohio. ... http://www.wcpo.com/news/2006/local/02/06/oh_blockgrants.html

Not that I'm in position to do such a thing, but what would you estimate the cost of rehabbing either one?

Hollywood name drops Cincinnati
I posted this elsewhere, so I thought I would make this one thread. <i>from Monday</i> Just watching CSI now and they mention a murdered couple is from Cincy. How do they know this? A unique type of chili was found in their stomach contents. dun dun dunt! . . . I couldn't believe it. They go on and say this chili is unique to Southern Ohio and that could be only one area, Cincinnati.

Hollywood name drops Cincinnati
I get a big kick out of any mention of Cincinnati in the world of entertainment. Another name dropped occurred during a Monk marathon on the USA Network this Sunday. (I refused to watch the Super Bowl with THAT team) Anyway, Monk was on the case of a muuuurder in San Fran, when he discovered his suspect also committed a murder in Cincinnati. How did the amazing Monk figure this out? It was in the girlfriend's suicide note that Monk uncovered. Case Closed. Maybe I should be concern that Hollywood is taking advantage of Cincy's crime problems. ;-)

I'm sure the folks at Twain's Pointe agree with you! The trees aren't an issue for Twains Pointe. I went to an open house and those condos are well above the tree line.

Cincinnati: Downtown - Parker Flats
So will the garage be next to Parker Flats? The dates through me off too. <b>"9/10/06: Garage finishes, 3/31/07: Garage occupancy (subject to work being done on building above)"</b> Garage will be finished this August, then the whole building in March?

Does the soon-to-be CityLink building have high ceilings? It would kill two birds with one stone.

Cincinnati: Crime & Safety Discussion
<b>Drug trade feeling heat in city</b> By Tony Cook Post staff reporter Pressure from Cincinnati police -- who made a record number of drug arrests in 2005 -- might be pushing some of the drug trade to the suburbs. Cincinnati: Abandoned and vacant buildings discussion
This is an excellent article by the Business Courier about the trials of low income housing and how difficult it is to clean it up. <b>Closer Inspection</b> As police runs to Cincinnati's low-rent apartments continue to rise, landlords are increasingly coming under heavy scrutiny Dan Monk, Senior Staff Reporter They were fighting over a dirty needle, the prostitutes who woke Sunny Colwell from a sound sleep last summer. It's one of the many ways the Lower Price Hill teenager said she was affected by the neighborhood crack house that operated out of a seven-unit apartment building just a block from Oyler Elementary School in spring 2004. First, she noticed the used condoms and needles near the building at 2122 St. Michael St. In the next 14 months, the dope boys waved guns at her friends. Hookers did their business on the streets. Johns asked her for sex. When she saw a stranger's car, she wondered if she should run or risk being kidnapped. She blames her least favorite landlord, Metro Management Inc., for allowing two tenants known in the neighborhood as Big T and Monster Head to entertain criminals for more than a year before finally acting to evict them. I thought Captain's Watch was only right next to Adams Landing and across from the Boathouse those pics are right across Freedom Park, further East. I didn't think CW went that far down . . .
