Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
Again, this is a no-brainer. Put it on The Banks, have Frank Gehry whip something up, watch people flood the riverfront, sell the land in Eden Park, build million dollar homes, Bada Bing!

Cincinnati: West End: CityLink Center
How close is the Drop Inn Center to Music Hall etc? And is the Drop Inn Center, Free Food Store and ReStoc one group? CityBeat has an interesting article on a plan that Restock has for housing. I don't think the Drop Inn Center should be so militant about moving. I've heard even the homeless who have used the Drop Inn Center have complained about the place. It's not that wonderful.

Cincinnati Reds Discussion
One owner is a developer and owns North American Properties. I wonder if that means the new ownership will get involved in the Banks, etc. They have a website http://www.naproperties.com/Default.aspx. Man, I hope the Reds can be interesting to watch again. Group buys Reds majority By Cliff Peale, John Erardi and John Fay Enquirer staff writers An ownership group led by local businessman Robert Castellini will assume operating control of the team, the Reds announced today. Under terms of the agreement, Castellini will replace Carl Lindner as the Reds chief executive officer. “Carl has meant so much to the Reds and the City of Cincinnati. As such, we are thrilled that he has agreed to continue his association with the Club as a significant partner in our ownership group,” Castellini said in a press release. More potental development ideas. I hope it's more than just talk. Fortifying Findlay Market Those who love the neighborhood talk about saving it By Chris Charlson, CityBeat Developers, business owners, community groups and residents gathered Oct. 26 at Memorial Hall to take part in an annual forum sponsored by Friends of Findlay Market. More than 100 people heard speakers discuss their "Visions for the Findlay Market Neighborhood" along with current projects and programs considered vital to the area's rebirth. The evening covered a number of successful nonprofit projects already in the works, including Smart Money's home ownership program for residents of Over-the-Rhine, which helps low-income residents save for a home by teaching them how to manage their money (see "Dollars and Sense," issue of Nov. 25-Dec. 2, 2003). While helping many, the agency is barely scratching the surface due to constant competition from predatory lenders such as check cashing businesses, pawn shops and loan sharks, according to Smart Money President Darrick Dansby. Cincinnati: West End: CityLink Center
It might be worth seeing what Nick Spencer knows about this. I know, in his blog, he has express frustration with a few of these social service agencies near where he lives/works. Mary Madinline(sp?) comes to mind. The people that gather near these agencies and the messes they cause around the buildings. I like the guy, I hope he gets elected next week.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Reading and Liberty Development
I wouldn't mind seeing this super-duper McDonalds down there. This one in Chicago caught a lot of peoples attention.

Cincinnati: Random Development and News
Has anyone heard that the Chop House restaurant in Oakley is closing and the owners bought the Rookwood restaurant in Mount Adams?

Cincinnati: West End: CityLink Center
This is a tough one. I'm not sure how I would response. Create an area dedicated to the homeless, addicts, convicts, poor, and head cases . . .lump them all together and see what happens. How can this be good for anyone? It's either a bad dream or a potential tourist attraction. I really curious if 3CDC has a hand in this. I can't believe the city needs something like this in addition to what is already in OTR. We need more enablers! ;-) The West End and OTR are going to get picked on. There are too many parts of those neighborhoods that are abandoned. The churches groups probably think there isn't any harm in creating something like this because of the countless empty run down buildings that no one seems to be doing anything with. I hope this isn't a death nil for you, West End Kid. The city needs you. If I had a vote, I would say lower price hill.

Cincinnati: Theodore M. Berry International Friendship Park
About time! I'm going to check it this weekend. They kind of shortchanged it. You can't walk inside and there isn't a bridge or water feature. It still looks interesting

Cincinnati: Abandoned and vacant buildings discussion
Quimbob, none of these links are working. If they are small enough, could you post them?

Metro Cincinnati: Road & Highway News
The removal of homes have been completed for a few weeks now. I guess they are done for the year, since straw has been laid down and they don't seem to be straighting or filling up the area they cleared out. This work has been done by ACME Construction. I tried to find out the status of this project with no luck.

Cincinnati: Google Maps Guessing Game
Is it me or has Google improved the Zoom? I was looking over DT Cincy and you can really get up close now.

Cincinnati: Waldvogel Viaduct
Yeah, that map doesn't make it easier to understand what they are trying to do. I believe they are trying to bring the Viaduct down to River Rd(which wouldn't make it a Viaduct any longer, I guess) and clean up the entry ways to and from Price Hill. What I don't get is how the road will still have to take you up to get to the various on ramps(I-75 South, Sixth St, etc). This is also suppose open up lower price hill for development. Instead of driving over it, we will be going through it!??!

Cincinnati: Downtown: Convention Center / Hotel
Completion, June, 2006.... they have a few months to go. I believe the outside is mostly done. It's the inside that still has the most work to be done. The outside is growing on me. I do like the lighted "CiNCiNNaTi", but I thought the facade wouldn't be so dark/black.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
I wasn't sure which OTR thread to post this too. I'm sure grasscat will move it if nec. This CityBeat article has some interesting developments I didn't know about; Sam Adams watering hole, a large condo project in the Christian Moerlein building, Venice Pizza space, etc. 3CDC and Mr Leeper don't sound that evil, give 'em a chance. On a bus tour of Over-the-Rhine developments By Stephanie Dunlap As usual, clowns have the right idea: Pile 'em all in a small vehicle and rattle around town for a few hours. A charter bus, 50 people and a few hours circling through Over-the-Rhine seemed a quick way to boost the awareness and maybe the cooperation of the many organizations trying to revitalize affordable and market-rate housing while preserving the neighborhood's historic architecture. http://www.citybeat.com/current/news.shtml

Covington, KY: The Ascent at Roebling's Bridge
I love the red, white and blue as much as the next guy, just not on my plates. I prefer a more understated look, like California's plates or even the old OH plates with the tan shading. Keep it clean and simple, which KY does with their new plates and I don't think they even used UK Blue. Sorry to stray from the topic, ground breaking can't start soon enough. Watching the progress will be fun.

Covington, KY: The Ascent at Roebling's Bridge
Hey now.....the new plates are being distributed now. And they are a huge improvement over the smiling sun plates. Ohio needs an upgrade.

Cincinnati: OTR Brewery District
Exactly, and Mr. Redmond said it far more politely than I ever could.
-
Cincinnati: East Price Hill: Incline Square
Mini-Mt Adams here it comes. Interesting news. It would be nice if that spurs more newer housing up there. That building is ugly, I hope they give it an updated facade. And they soon will be able to shop down on River Road.

Cincinnati: OTR Brewery District
I guess no one on this forum knows if the plans on http://otrbrewerydistrict.com/ are a real possibility or if it's all pie in sky dreaming?
-
Cincinnati: OTR Brewery District
And I think an announcement should be coming soon! I believe Nick Spencer's blog indicated they are putting the finishing touches on the plan. I'm very curious what they have in mind.

Cincinnati: Random Development and News
I think I found the area on this Google map and I guess Price Hill could benefit. To me this is aimed at folks in Delhi, Riverside, and Sedamsville. Delhi has an on going problem with retail on Delhi Pike and Riverside and Sedamsville are so scarcely populated as you can see by all the hilly green space. I'm not really sure who they think they will attract. They better create more than one entrance/exit. It will be strange having shopping on the river with the industrial sites there too. Maybe they will build a bridge to bring over the folks from Bromley.

Cincinnati: OTR Brewery District
The name "Metal Blast" is just a great name for a building. I hope it lives on in one form or the other. Maybe after I win the $340 million Powerball tonight, I'll help out. ;-)
