  1. Taller than KEY? That would be wild. Truthfully though I’d rather make sure the entire parking crater is filled in with active uses instead of all concentrated in one tower. Now if that can be achieved AND include a taller tower then I’m all for it. I wonder if they go that tall if there would be any possibility for public access like an observation deck? Lots of interesting possibilities to this. Hope we don’t have to wait much longer to find out.
  2. I hope this doesn't deviate the conversation too much, but does anyone know if HQ building is spurring anything at the Renaissance Hotel? I think @KJPyou hinted once that they were looking at the empty corner lot for expansion but are no longer doing that. Their TripAdvisor reviews are a mess. They've been touting an "imminent complete renovation" for years but I am not sure if anything is really happening. It could be such a nice hotel but seems to be sadly neglected. The prospect of Sherwin Williams including a hotel within their campus adds another layer as well.
  3. How very cool and refreshing that they reused those bricks !
  4. OMG no PLEASE not more things to haunt me at night over not being maintained. Why is this SO HARD
  5. Jeez... https://www.cleveland.com/metro/2020/08/man-beaten-to-death-outside-store-in-clevelands-ohio-city-neighborhood.html "Man beaten to death outside store in Cleveland’s Ohio City neighborhood" I saw the headline and knew immediately where this took place... 'The incident happened about 5:45 p.m. outside Linda’s Market on Detroit Avenue and West 28th Street. Partridge walked out of the store when a man walked up next to him and punched him in the head, according to police.'
  6. Then there is this.... https://fox8.com/news/cleveland-first-responders-delayed-by-group-of-motorcyclists/ 'Cleveland first responders delayed by group of motorcyclists' "The Cleveland Fire Department tells FOX 8 first responders were delayed trying to get to a jet ski accident because of as many as 200 motorcyclists." If emergency responders cant even get by and nobody does a thing to stop it, we got a problem.
  7. Wow, what a shock that will be to see actually completed! I am so used to that weird shell of a building.
  8. Chicago's Home of Chicken and Waffles on Prospect has closed and the property is for sale. The Playhouse Square area is really being hit hard by closures, unsurprisingly.
  9. Zaytoon has closed. They still are going to hold onto the space and possibly rebrand as something else in the future.
  10. I wasn’t sure where to put this as the article I am referencing touches on several things While it is mainly about May Co. it gives some leasing percentages and facts on several of the new buildings. They all seem optimistic they will lease up fairly soon: May (307 Units): ‘Neale predicts the May will take 12 to 18 months to fill up.’ ‘Most of the apartments are one- or two-bedroom units, though Bedrock incorporated a few studios and three-bedroom floor plans. Rents start at $1,260 a month for a 570-square-foot studio and top out at $3,085 for a penthouse. The average price per square foot is $2.17.’ Beacon: ‘The Beacon, a 187-unit high-rise at Euclid and East Sixth Street, opened early this year and is 55% occupied. Developer Stark Enterprises expects to hit 95% occupancy in early 2021, said Brian Weisberg, the company's vice president of residential operations. The average rental rate at the Beacon is $2.29 per square foot...’ Lumen: ‘At the 318-unit Lumen, more than 50 tenants have signed on, and roughly a dozen have moved in. "I'm hoping and expecting that we're going to lease up within less than 12 months," said Art Falco, senior advisor for special projects at Playhouse Square, the building's owner. Construction at the tower should be complete by mid-September. Pricing for one-bedroom units at the Lumen starts at just shy of $1,500 a month, while penthouses are being advertised at rents of up to $6,661.’ Link to full article: https://www.crainscleveland.com/real-estate/may-co-leasing-starts-big-projects-test-depth-downtown-clevelands-apartment-market
  11. @Boomerang_Brian Sittoos is open. Zaytoon has closed as has Puente Viejo (as far as I know) both on Huron.
  12. This and the possible remodel of the Ohio City station head house to better connect to Intro should help a lot. Having one downtown station definitely prevents me from using the red line more... living in Playhouse Square its faster to bike, scooter or... ? *drive* to Ohio City that it would be for me to walk to Tower City and wait for a train. I'd like to take it more, it just isn't really convenient.
  13. I believe that rendering is just a suggestion- not necessarily indicative of final plans. But the fact that Casto is already active here with Dexter Place (a very nicely designed building IMHO) I am a lot more confident in this plan than if it were someone else. It will be exciting to see what happens! Also... some NICE tidbits at the end regarding MRN and Voss/the Bakersfield/Union Bank lot!!!
  14. ...good to hear @Snar Adams
  15. Curious - has anyone heard or happen to know anything regarding Heinen's downtown? KJP reported they would open by August but I have not heard any updates nor seen anything to indicate work is even happening inside. Granted the windows are still boarded up, so it is hard to tell.
  16. As unfortunate as that is I just don’t think it was the right fit. We need something that appeals to a wider audience and budget.
  17. This was a nice quote to read: "Jatsek, a local developer with a construction background, said he's not ready to talk about project costs. He and his partners have a contract to buy the property, at 2208-2210 Superior Viaduct, for an undisclosed price. They're on the verge of picking a construction team and hope to start site work by mid-2021. The pandemic isn't altering that timeline, Jatsek said during a phone interview Friday. "It's not derailing us at all," he said.""
  18. Oh man I remember this! I had just moved here ? my first April fools prank.
  19. Sushi 86 had its 20th anniversary five days ago. They did post to their Instagram that they are working on their new COVID-19 version of Sushi 86. So hopefully something soon!
  20. Great news for Irishtown Bend! Wasn't sure where best to post so also cross-posted in the Ohio City development page. https://www.clevescene.com/scene-and-heard/archives/2020/07/16/metroparks-to-demolish-two-buildings-on-w-25th-street-for-irishtown-bend-project "Metroparks to Demolish Two Buildings on W. 25th Street for Irishtown Bend Project" 'The Cleveland Metroparks will demolish two buildings on W. 25th Street in what will be the "first major visible step" in the forthcoming Irishtown Bend project, which aims to clear and stabilize the Cuyahoga River hillside along the eponymous bend and transform it into a 23-acre park.'

  22. A listing for 1020 Bolivar shows renderings of the planned renovation. Don't know the background here but what a transformation! Imagine this + the Spaghetti lot developed and you have the start of a whole new neighborhood. So much untapped potential in this stretch of land, which really should be a natural connection from Gateway to Playhouse Square. https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/1020-Bolivar-Rd-Cleveland-OH/16575974/
  23. I suppose this would go here. Good news for North Coast Harbor! Glad to see this is progressing: https://www.clevescene.com/scene-and-heard/archives/2020/07/15/two-concepts-a-cafe-and-bar-lounge-kitchen-to-open-on-ground-floor-of-harbor-verandas-by-rock-hall "Two Concepts, a Cafe and 'Bar/Lounge/Kitchen,' to Open on Ground Floor of Harbor Verandas by Rock Hall" 'Cute for Coffee, the smaller of the two spots, will offer quick refreshments like coffee, frozen yogurt and hard-packed ice cream. ... With respect to Sandrine, he adds, “I would liken it to an upscale hotel lounge, with a lot of sofa seating.” A 14-person bar will be joined by a handful of small tables. The owner anticipates that the food program will expand and contract with the seasons. In colder months, indoor patrons will enjoy bar snacks and finger foods, but come spring, a 45-seat patio will bloom along with a more ambitious menu.'
  24. About time... UGH. Now do downtown!
  25. Wow. I. Love. This. Maybe it’s just the initial shock of seeing it haha but this is a really nicely designed tower. More of this please!!!!
