  1. It is remarkable how much of an impact this singular project is having and could potentially continue to have - I think we forget that not long ago this entire site was a MASSIVE wind swept parking lot for decades. Im sure we could nitpick this project to death for its flaws, but taking away almost all of that surface parking in one sweep is incredible. I hope the same will happen someday for the other one on West 9th and St Clair.
  2. I have heard the Marons are being problematic about how it will be run and managed and who is responsible for it… typical Cleveland property owners haha. We’ll see, hopefully they can work it out.
  3. I feel like I heard recently there was a bit of progress in communicating with them. I can't remember if I read that here or if someone told me that... I wish I could remember.
  4. That is another problem, stories being made about non stories. We are just so hungry for this project to start that we jump on things like this. Hope you are able to begin soon!
  5. Glad it isn't hopeless. I am sure they want to move ahead but lately it has been so frustrating seeing so many projects languishing for months and years here and then ultimately disappearing... I hope things will change someday.
  6. Doesn't sound like this project is moving forward anytime soon... 😑
  7. My company is headquartered there and I am in GR a LOT. This is spot on. GR citizens have incredible GR pride and want to act like they are a much bigger city... it reminds me a bit of the mentality that you find in Columbus. It's very disappointing that so often in Cleveland there is the opposite. Don't want to derail this thread, but it is relevant even to this airport project. The woe is me attitude is getting better, but still very much alive and does nothing but hold this region back.
  8. Correct, although our Ritz is 4 star. I do not believe we have a true 5 star hotel downtown.
  9. Grand Rapids MI also just opened a new expansion on their A terminal that is really gorgeous. It seems they got this project done in record time, while we are still talking about the Master Plan for CLE 😆
  10. It may not be a major change right away but this is excellent news. The GPC was a total joke and needs to be dissolved. Downtown CLE Is much more capable to maintain and activate the square properly. Hopefully this spreads to the Malls as well.
  11. Other than Bridgeworks who else would have applied? Of course the pessimist in me thinks, both Cleveland TMUD winning projects may not even happen .... so a lot of good that did 😆
  12. Not sure if this has any significance at all
  13. I know we all love skyscrapers but developing this area with mid to low rise buildings would be equally as exciting.
  14. Weren’t they opening or already open in other urban locations ? I wonder what they’re like
  15. It’s very “walled off”… most of the windows do not show into the interior. I wish they would’ve had some garage style doors that opened… definitely needs some street presence. Really strange.
  16. That looks awesome. All of this contributes to the energy along Euclid Avenue which is so desperately needed. I hope one day we have enough people living in this neighborhood to support restaurants and bars that actually stay open AFTER shows let out... right now we pretty much have nothing which is sad. So many times after a show there is nowhere to go nearby. We have to fill up the empty retail spots and add some life down E. 14th. The parking lots at Prospect totally kill any momentum one feels when walking. Baby steps...
  17. Construction is due to start before the end of the year, shouldn’t be too much longer.
  18. ^ Exactly... This area is MOSTLY parking lots. Why are we demolishing vs. filling in? Makes no sense to me.
  19. That was the plan originally around the time when the chandelier was put in and for some reason they decided not to do it. Also the old fashion PLAYHOUSE SQUARE sign atop the Cowell and Hubbard building has a ton of bulbs out... I hope they fix that?
  20. Since 2009 that thing has probably worked for a handful of weeks... they used to always be working on it fixing it when it would go out but I haven't seen it lit up in a longggg time. Another poorly maintained light piece in the city
  21. Absolute insanity given the pitiful state of RTA
  22. Thank god they removed those planters - if you can even call them that. This whole area needs to be re-thought.
  23. It is rather amazing what an impact this building has... imagine a few more!! haha ... Already there is a sense of 'completeness' when standing in Public Square. Now let's just hope the rest of the parking lot gets developed with 'phase 2' and infill along West 6th and St. Clair.
  24. I think it will look better once they add the additional details, if you compare to the rendering there are more decorative elements to come.
  25. Don't think I have ever noticed this building. This whole stretch of downtown could be so much more than it is...
