Cleveland: Historic Photos
Wow I never knew all this was lost... so sad. I guess we should really treasure the buildings we’ve managed to hold onto.

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
https://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2018/08/rta_makes_flounsay_doc_caver_acting_general_manager.html "RTA makes Floun'say 'Doc' Caver acting general manager" "The Regional Transit Authority board voted 6 to 3 Tuesday to make 15-year employee Floun'say "Doc" Caver acting general manager, effective Sept. 1. Though praising Caver, the dissenting trustees said they would have liked to interview all three applicants for the job before picking one. But President Dennis Clough said he and other trustees felt ready to move forward." Thoughts?

This came from the Planning Commission Landmark Agenda, thank god they are going to renovate the Lincoln Building and make it at least a little better... but WOW- how sad that this is what it once was...

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
Getting better! Nice view and hope we find out soon was is proposed for the space between the RRHOF and the Science Center. Unfortunately all I can focus on is the still unfinished Federal Building....

Cleveland: Downtown: The Centennial (925 Euclid Redevelopment)
Everything is advertised as “luxury” especially downtown apartments. I think every building pretty much does this. Remember though that they also plan to put in affordable units similar to what they put in the Swetland building (part of the 9)

Housing Market & Trends
Not sure if this belongs here but an interesting article. I was really surprised to see that the Standard Building is only about half leased....but others like Worthington Yards are 100% and Halle is already 70%. Downtown apartment rentals gain momentum http://www.crainscleveland.com/real-estate/downtown-apartment-rentals-gain-momentum

A proposal to include 60 luxury condominiums is included in an investment summary that Millennia Housing Capital Ltd., Sinito's finance-raising subsidiary, is sharing with prospective investors for the proposed $350 million project.

Those are amazing pictures. Sometimes we get frustrated with how long big projects take to get off the ground or things that just don’t seem to be in the cards yet like building on the WHD parking lots... but when you really stop to think about the number of projects and transformation that HAVE been accomplished just in the last ten years- it’s incredible.

Whoops! ;D My California roots are showing...

Cleveland: Retail News
At least Cleveland is getting a Bonobos at Van Aken... thats better :D It's a bit ridiculous that we have about 17 "shopping districts" spread out so when a new retailer comes its a wildcard to where it will go

Cleveland: Retail News
http://www.crainscleveland.com/article/20180814/news/171716/warby-parker-focuses-cleveland-market-new-store-opening-aug-18 Warby Parker is one of the hottest things in retail right now, and I was noticing how Cleveland's will be opening in suburban Pinecrest, yet Columbus and Cincinatti both have their stores in Urban Locations (Short North and Over-the-Rhine). Cincinatti is also getting a Bonobos in the same location. Too bad we cant get any retail downtown...

Cleveland: Downtown: 55 Public Square Renovation
Wow... that was. K&D has taken on a ton of projects lately so I was surprised when I heard about 55. Last I had talked to them they were planning to take a break after Terminal Tower. Hopefully someone else can come along to take the 55 project... the building needs a major redo and the parking garage just needs to go. K&D's other projects downtown involved buildings that were in pretty good shape. This one needed a ton of work, maybe thats why it fell through? Although I believe 668 involved quite a bit of work. Who knows

Cleveland: Downtown: Tower City / Riverview Development
I assume K&D's ownership of the tower encompasses the lobby (Public Square entrance), the tower itself, and that would be about it? The mall portion takes up the majority of the property. It is amazing to me that there is NO external signage except for the brass letters outside between the Tower entrance and the Renaissance, but that is fairly small and not highly visible. Whatever they do they have got to put up something outside to draw people in...

Cleveland: Downtown: Tower City / Riverview Development
They are probably further along than he can discuss... I guess time will tell. I do like that they are going to attempt to address the confusing layout as well as Huron. I wish they would have asked in the Podcast about the land on the other side of Huron... obviously that is the missing piece. It would be nice if they are planning whatever is built on that land in conjunction with the redo of Tower City so it is cohesive. There is so much potential

Cleveland: Random Development and News
I have a very random question. I was in Heinen’s the other day and noticed the glass dome seemed rather dark, as if the lights were off that illuminate it. Perhaps it’s my OCD but it drives me crazy that there are always at least a couple of lights burned out that encircle the dome so I’m always looking up to see. This however was the dome itself. I tweeted Heinen’s asking if the lights would be replaced soon and they replied with this: “Good Morning Clifton - the glass dome at our Downtown Cleveland store draws in light from the outside. Looks like you happened to look up as some clouds were passing overhead!“ Am I crazy or is that completely false? I thought the dome was entirely sealed on the outside, and that the light was artificial.

Cleveland: Homeless News & Discussion
Sad to hear there is such an increase in homelessness. Just speaking to downtown, I haven’t noticed any extreme increase in homeless people but obviously this is just s small area of the region. I am from California originally and was always amazed at how many homeless and mentally ill people are on the streets in downtown San Francisco. I was just reading several articles this week describing the absolute crisis they are facing right in the city center. Thousands of homeless or mentally ill persons shooting up drugs right in the streets, going to the bathroom, fighting, even murders all in “nice” tourist areas. I guess it’s the worst it’s ever been according to some. Even some conventions have canceled having events there due to the issues. I haven’t been back to downtown SF in years but I hope the problems here in Cleveland can be addressed before it gets to that point in the city center but like I said the problems here go way beyond what we see downtown...

Came across this today.... Wow were things different then ??? Every single building is gone. IT says taken from St. Clair but I think this is actually Superior?

Cleveland: Downtown: Tower at Erieview & Galleria Renovation
One Cleveland Center has its own garage with an entrance on Rockwell and on Saint Clair. There is an underground pedestrian passage between the garage under the Galleria and One Cleveland Center’s lobby.

Cleveland: Downtown: Tower at Erieview & Galleria Renovation
The addition of a garage entrance off of East Ninth is concerning... not sure about that. But I am curious what they plan to do with the Galleria? The article doesn’t really say.

Cleveland: Downtown: The Beacon
Wow - is it actually going to be that much taller? Those beams are like 3 floors in height... Maybe I dont understand what I am seeing though :)
