Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
Here we go again... sounds a bit like the Tremont carjackings. They get away with it once and now its full on... I really hope this is stopped immediately. Not good for Little Italy. "Priest pistol whipped, robbed in church parking lot in Little Italy" Four robberies tonight... http://fox8.com/2015/12/05/priest-pistol-whipped-robbed-in-church-parking-lot-in-little-italy/

Cleveland: Streetscape Improvements
From what I've heard... yes, they will play music. Think bells chiming on the hour--but the bell chimes will be music from artists that have been inducted into the hall of fame. The idea is to un-moor the Rock Hall from North Coast Harbor and bring it into the rest of downtown. Well that's kinda cool... I like the concept but just not sure about the execution. We will see!

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
Yikes... Anybody hear about this? http://fox8.com/2015/11/24/i-team-investigation-asks-why-man-fought-with-attackers-then-had-to-wait-for-police/ Kinda troubling for two reasons: 1. If this is true about UC police then that is absurd. 2. Unfortunate that crime is coming into Little Italy? Isn't that one of the safest areas of the city? Hopefully this is isolated.

Cleveland: Warehouse District: Development and News
That building is so ugly. Why don't they just tear it down and move HQ to NuCleUs or 515?

Can I ask a dumb question? What is the difference between something going before the planning commission, and being on the landmarks agenda?

Cleveland: Downtown: Hilton Cleveland
I wish I could see how the hell they're doing it... Modern construction techniques baffle me. The same way they raise it but backwards. Which baffles me too haha. They take it down in small sections.

They are taking down the crane.

Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
At first I thought this was going to be the cafe operator in public square but the website indicates this will open in 200 Public Square. 'Bloom Bakery will soon fill the air with sweet aromas' http://www.freshwatercleveland.com/innovationnews/bloombaskery110915.aspx "The aromas of fresh baked bread and pastries will soon waft through the streets of Cleveland when Bloom Artisan Bakery and Café opens two locations next year. In a social enterprise venture, Towards Employment, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping low income and disadvantaged adults achieve self-sufficiency through employment, announced last week that it will open bakeries in both Public Square and on the Cleveland State campus"

Cleveland: Downtown: Euclid & 9th Tower / Schofield Building Redevelopment
The exterior lighting looks fantastic. Hopefully that puts the pressure on Geis or whomever is in charge of lighting up the Rotunda. They need exterior lights too!

Cleveland: Downtown: John Hartness Brown Buildings / Euclid Grand
I believe one of the news casts covering the DCA quarter three report stated that this project is on track to begin soon. Let's hope...

Cleveland: Downtown: Jack Cleveland Casino - Phase 2
I hope they don't sit on that property forever... This combined with the lack of info on Tower City is driving me crazy! If Gilbert buys Tower City and revamps the entire thing along with new construction on the Huron Road property (can Neiman Marcus still be built? ;) haha) that would be an amazing development.

Cleveland: Downtown Office Buildings Updates
There's a whole fitness center up there including the gym, track, tennis courts and I believe even a pool. It's all closed. I guess with the YMCA opening across the street Optima doesn't see a value in it right now

Cleveland: Downtown Office Buildings Updates
That's very interesting... Working in One Cleveland Center I can say this would be great, even if the design could be better. This whole area is large office towers connected by boxy parking garages. East 12th is incomplete. This could be a step in changing the feel.

Loving those headboard backgrounds. Cool idea to show off local architecture.

Northeast Ohio / Cleveland: General Transit Thread
I don't want to go too far off topic... But I've only lived in Ohio for eight years. I'm curious... What were things like (peoples commuting habits via the rapid) when ridership was much higher in times past?

Northeast Ohio / Cleveland: General Transit Thread
Unfortunately it is very true that the vast majority of people here are not willing to take the rapid to work because almost everyone I seem to talk to believes Tower City is the only stop. If your office isn't near Tower City, people aren't going to utilize it. A lot of people don't even know the waterfront line exists, which in some cases can take you closer to your office (for example I work at the end of E. 9th somewhat near North Coast Station). But in many cases it takes just as long or longer to drive to the rapid station, possibly transfer, then walk to your destination, than it does to just drive. I am all about the rapid system and expanding and improving it but the sad truth is that to many many people in Cleveland, it is not viewed as convenient at all. I hope people realize how beneficial it is once the possibility of a shut down becomes more widely known.
