Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
Now this sounds AWESOME! Sheng Long Yu's Next Big Move is to Open an Asiatown Food Hall Serving Street Foods from China, Japan and Taiwan "Yu describes the concept as “a food hall with a touch of service.” Diners will walk in, grab seats and order foods from various kitchens using their phones. The food will be delivered to the table by a server or a robot, a method already in use at Shinto Westlake. Diners can look forward to appealing Asian street foods like bao, dumplings, izakaya-style BBQ skewers and bubble tea. Yu also will be relocating his popular Dagu Rice Noodle from down the block to the new restaurant. Cleveland: Flats Developments (Non-Stonebridge or FEB)
I love this news and this project. It makes me really wish that the old brick buildings along the Towpath trail (on Scranton) could find a similar use...

Cleveland: Downtown: The Centennial (925 Euclid Redevelopment)
I can't believe they got the full amount. This really will be transformative in a way Bridgeworks and the W were not, and while I wish those projects could have gotten something, hopefully this will not kill them. The Centennial really will change downtown in a big way and hopefully spur more retail and investment extending all around Euclid and 9th.

Cleveland: Downtown: nuCLEus
Just because Benesch isn't a part of whatever is happening here doesn't mean that things are not happening... According to the previous articles from KJP the primary tenant of a hypothetical office tower was Rocket Mortgage / Quicken Loans and the Shinola Hotel. Remember that Stark denied that Benesch was leaving so we know they aren't exactly transparent 😁 We just need to wait and see!

This little tidbit from the Benesch article is pretty interesting … how cool would this be ?! ”And Sinito hopes to turn a roughly 7,000-square-foot vacancy on the tower's 52nd floor into a fine-dining restaurant. During a recent walk-through, he pointed out the sweeping views of the city to the east, west and south.” https://www.crainscleveland.com/real-estate/benesch-law-firm-inks-big-key-tower-lease-taking-eight-floors

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
I recently rode Pittsburgh's "T" system and was amazed at how much better it was than the Rapid. The downtown area is a free fare zone, and the trains seem to have a frequency of every few minutes. I don't think their system is that much larger than ours but I could be mistaken. Just being able to hop on and get around downtown and over the river (there are multiple stations downtown) with frequent service was eye-opening. The fact is that the Rapid is not convenient or efficient for most people. With only one downtown stop (now that the Waterfront line is not operating), and the fact that if you miss a train you might have to wait 30 minutes, its no wonder the majority of people who have the option to drive don't even consider using public transit. Combine that with all the maintenance and service issues and it is in a sad state.

Cleveland: Random Development and News
That is funny @cadmen... I was just think about this yesterday. It is truly frustrating at how BAD this looks. The building looked so much better before. I cannot believe this is actually the final design but if you look very closely at the original renderings it does in fact show that the glass doesn't go all the way to the top on the south and east sides. I also really dislike the brown gradient they used only on the west and north sides. The whole thing is a jumbled mess. Unfortunately I think we are stuck with this now... :(

Cleveland: Downtown: Tower at Erieview & Galleria Renovation
Well... there is also this now. Maybe some validity for this project? I just don't know. "Shared-workspace provider Industrious inks deal for downtown Cleveland location Industrious, a fast-growing operator of flexible office spaces, plans to set up shop in downtown Cleveland this year. The New York-based company has formed a partnership with the Kassouf family, the owners of the Tower at Erieview, to open a nearly 20,000-square-foot operation in the building. The space, a full floor of the tower, will house a mix of private offices and shared amenities." https://www.crainscleveland.com/real-estate/shared-workspace-provider-industrious-inks-deal-downtown-cleveland-location

Cleveland: Downtown: Skyline 776 (City Club Apartments)
That first picture shows what a huge gap this is going to fill... I am so excited this project was able to begin construction.

Cleveland: Downtown: Tower at Erieview & Galleria Renovation
While I really wish this project would happen it sounds like most people on this board don’t have much faith in the Kassoufs. It would do wonders for this part of town. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see… if this was totally a pie in the sky proposal I wonder how they got Marriott to go along with this?

Cleveland: Downtown: Playhouse Square Development and News
This was at one time the original Higbees! Sadly now there is nothing remaining of the original facade (unless it’s hidden under there somewhere). What was a beautiful block is now one of the ugliest, aside from the Union Club. How I wish someone would renovate the (current) Sterling Building… mostly because I have to look down at it from my windows haha

Cleveland: Retail News
This makes absolutely no sense to me. And sadly with every national chain that closes at Tower City we always think “maybe they will open elsewhere downtown” and it has yet to happen. Either there is something much bigger going on or Bedrock has absolutely no clue what they are doing here. For a lot of people, each of these stores closing gives one less and less reason to ever go to TC.

Cleveland: Downtown: Skyline 776 (City Club Apartments)
Obviously these trees had to be removed given the footprint of the new building but it's really sad / Ironic that this is one of the few stretches of trees downtown that are actually alive and well haha... of course 🙃

Cleveland: Retail News
For me and probably many others downtown, Target is a place that I shop sometimes multiple times a week. It would have an enormous impact on foot traffic downtown, wherever it gets located. I do think the Centennial is an interesting option given its location near Heinen's, which currently is probably the most active 'retail' draw downtown. I wouldn't turn down a Nordstrom/Bloomies but I don't think we can quite go from having essentially no shopping downtown to THAT 😁

Cleveland: Hotel Development
It will be a boutique brand, not revealed yet. Sounds like we should find out soon. Great project for this street, definitely will add a nice burst of life!

Cleveland: Downtown: 55 Public Square Restoration
Work has started on 55 Public Square. Up close this building is in rough shape. It will be interesting to see what K&D does here!

Cleveland: Random Development and News
Totally agree... 45 Erieview is part of a critical dead zone downtown and I can't wait to see this project happen and hopefully spill over into the Galleria. I am also so excited for Cleveland Whiskey to spark more activity in that part of the Flats. Sadly there is always a loser in these rounds... I hope Warner Swasey keeps trying. That would be such a huge development to an area with nothing happening.

I am really not sure where to post this but some news on 45 Erieview!

Cleveland: Downtown: Gateway District: Development and News
It looks like work might finally be starting on the BP station redo at the corner of East ninth and Carnegie. Normally I wouldn’t get excited about a gas station, but I do think this will vastly improve the appearance of that corner as it is a lot of peoples welcome into downtown.

Here is the view from the intersection at Abbey… hopefully they put artwork there because threat blank wall is not good.

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
It's wild to me how many skyscrapers there are in Dallas and especially Houston and yet in my experience the street life in those two downtowns is dead and sterile.

Cleveland: Downtown: Cleveland Athletic Club Redevelopment
^ the retail space is being framed out for Hydration Spark: an IV Hydration therapy center. Supposedly these places are very popular. https://www.hydrationspark.com/ My friend recently toured CAC and was told the occupancy rate is even higher… like 98%

Cleveland: Retail News
What is downtown Detroit’s actual population? Seems like Detroit is succeeding in getting retail to come to the urban core while Cleveland is just stagnant. I’m sure there are many reasons…
