  1. From just a moment ago, moving quickly on the new Westin
  2. Project is moving along. I do like the reflective look if the new glass. It was very weird to see workers walking in between the old glass and the new glass yesterday on the south face, which is basically complete. They're now wrapping around to the west face and the first corner pieces are in place.
  3. One thing I've noticed is they are filling in a lot of the holes in the facade that were damaged. There's a lot to fix so I'm sure it will take a lot of work!
  4. I'm pretty sure FC shed everything except Terminal Tower itself... Or at least had it all for sale. Maybe I'm wrong ... I can't quite remember.
  5. Today was my first Browns game RTA experience and I was happy to see that RTA was very organized (much more so than the Browns.....) and easily managed the large crowds. Lots of announcements and clear direction, extra trains, etc. Kudos to all the staff! One issue: on the way home to Green Rd. our train had some malfunctions. The PA system stopped working and after Shaker Square the train lost traction and there were a few stretches where we were barely moving and I wasn't sure we were going to make it. Nobody knew what was going on because the driver couldn't announce anything or call out stops. Is this common when temps drop or what? Only negative thing of the day- just wish the trains were a bit more reliable. Overall though everyone else seemed to have a good experience.
  6. Yea I think we are getting the better deal... :)
  7. http://www.clevescene.com/scene-and-heard/archives/2013/11/21/massive-hofbrauhaus-project-in-playhousesquare-officially-underway Hofbrauhaus has broken ground for late 2014 opening.
  8. YES. now that inspiration is much better than evoking the slope of the mall... !!
  9. Anyone know what is going on? Last night and this morning the green line train was not only delayed but the ride was jumpy and jerky the whole time. It was really odd and obviously something wasn't right
  10. Yes, I believe that was their topping out ceremony. The tree is a sure sign. BTW, ironically you also shot the Howell Building. Word is that Geis recently bought that building. No word on what he intends to do with it. That is interesting KJP... The Howell building and the much taller Medical building next door are really beautiful, I never knew they were even there until last year! Wonder what he might do with that two story (I think?) building...
  11. There's an article on cle.com ... It won't be a RED. it would be called Roja and be a Latin concept. Personally sounds cool!
  12. Yea I don't fully get the whole "doesn't keep with the plan" argument. Didn't key tower pretty much blow that out of the water? I'm just glad it's less grey/brown and more glassy... Hopefully they keep the blue color. Our current skyline is very heavy looking, we need some nice modern glassy buildings to break it up. It's not perfect but it's going in the right direction, I think
  13. Now that would be ironic, :) wasn't the Huntington building designed for airships?
  14. At first I didn't give any of this much thought but after looking into it more it actually could be pretty cool, especially the connection to Whiskey Park and Edgewater! Having those two assets connected to downtown is pretty awesome, but it also sounds like they want to integrate with RTA, mostly the FEB station and perhaps North Coast. Having this all interact and be accessible to each other is really cool, changed my thoughts on this.
  15. Does anyone know if Table 9, which was in the former One Walnut space, has closed? Only went once and had a very odd experience. Doesn't surprise me, but too bad... It could've been a success but the food was nowhere near adequate.
  16. Thanks for posting here, I had this in another thread because I didn't know where to post. There is something really weird going on, if you read the PD comments (I KNOW DANGER!) multiple people with, seemingly, knowledge of the situation indicate that some tragedy has forced this to happen. I suppose we will find out soon enough. Too bad
  17. Wasn't 100% sure where to put this but David Franklin, director of Cleveland Museum of Art has suddenly resigned for personal reasons. This is pretty shocking... Nobody seems to know what's going on here. www.cleveland.com/arts/index.ssf/2013/10/cleveland_museum_of_art_direct_1.html
  18. I agree... location isnt really the killer. There are a lot of oddly located restaurants in Cleveland that are very successful. The first time I tried Accent I thought it was great but the next few times were underwhelming. Cool concept but not sure about execution... I would love a great Asian-fusion style restaurant there, perhaps just a different concept than Accent. Visually though, the space was awesome, it could not have been cheap to build out and whoever comes in next will probably not be able to utilize the space with neon red "ACCENT" panels on all the walls and ceilings... that part sucks :-(

  21. From above... Not sure how I feel. I do Like how it reflects when the sun isn't on it
  22. I learned something new today. I never knew that before the Hampton Inn was built at 9th and Superior, there was the beautiful "Hotel Olmsted" ... Another loss in favor of a pretty lack luster structure :( As the building was demolished in 1997 i was wondering if anyone has any modern pictures of this building before it's destruction. I only see postcards
  23. Your pictures always amaze me! Awesome!
  24. So depending on who you are... this is either MAJOR news or ridiculous news BUT CLE will be getting TWO new Starbucks in the airport
  25. That second one was supposed to be Bridgeview Cafe or something. There was an article about the owners purchasing it probably now over a year ago. Nothing ever happened
