Cleveland: Downtown: May Company Building
I believe this is for the Casino skywalk. They're building it there and then moving it into place.

A while back before the great crash someone posted a rendering if the Heinen's logo on the parking garage. That turned out to be true. Also, I came across some renderings if the hotel portion of this before Geis locked their site. If I recall correctly, Marcus Hotel Group had their logo on the hotel, which was called "the Metropolitan" therefore the M.

Forgot about that one but I think it's on its way. I would think all the momentum around it might speed things up.

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
I have a question, I apologize if this doesn't belong here but KJP will know I'm sure: I've always been curious. On blue or green trains approaching 55 or Tower City especially, why do they constantly jolt suddenly and several beeps come from the cabin? Is this like an automatic sensor triggered response or what?

Also getting a cleaning: the Hanna Building! Now if only they would do the Wyndham! It looks pretty bad.

Cleveland: Downtown: Euclid & 9th Tower / Schofield Building Redevelopment
That is such a cool picture.... but I agree, its not so bad the way it is. Could use a cleaning though. More importantly... how about re-building the building on the right instead of the lovely surface lot we have now!!!

Cleveland: General Business & Economic News
Didn't know where to talk about this. Did anyone know about Content Marketing World that was held last week at the Convention Center? I heard nothing about it but saw it on Instagram and after some exploring thought it was pretty cool to see so many out of Towners posting pics of downtown and raving about how nice it was, and many specifically saying they were surprised at the bad rap Cleveland gets because downtown was so nice. I just thought it was neat to see! http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2013/09/joe_pulizzis_content_marketing.html

Cleveland: Random Development and News
I hate to ask these kinds of questions but I just thought someone might know.... What happened to the proposal of putting a mural on the blank south side of the Standard Building? Wasn't this proposed to the planning commission like 2 years ago?

Awesome shot mayday! Everyday I walk by I am amazed at the progress. Between this and the Schofield it's really spectacular what some cleaning will do to a neglected building!

Cleveland: Downtown: Gateway District: Development and News
Maybe the article was updated since you read it? I just read that Weston has plans to restore the building and fill the parking lot with new construction. But they have no control over the properties. "This week, a Weston executive said the investment group also has a standing offer to buy the Kendel Building and is trying to buy the Herold Building and a small parking lot to the east from L&R. Sketches prepared by Sandvick Architects show that the developers want to restore the trio of historic buildings, bookend them with new construction and fill the block with restaurants, offices and 44 apartments. "We're working on it," said Rob Namy, a Weston executive. "We're trying to move forward with it. We've spent money on architectural fees. We are spending money on legal fees. There's a long way to go. I don't even know if it will ever work, which is a shame. Do you think that the city needs another parking lot?" This is so irritating! Just give it to Weston!!! Lol

Wow, lots of interesting bits in there... will be neat to see how it all plays out. Obviously this is pretty early in the game but I am surprised Heinens is even considering this. Its a good sign though.

Cleveland: Downtown: Hilton Cleveland
I am not sure if this has been said before. From WKYC: "And six big-name hotel chains vying to operate the facility made their pitch to key players Tuesday and Wednesday. "We're looking for an operator that gives us a four-star hotel ... someone who can give us that convention hotel experience," said project leader and lawyer Jeff Appelbaum. The Cooper Carry design team should be formally approved by County Council next week. And the selection of hotel operator and building contractor are being timed to coincide." Isn't the Ritz currently the only 4 star property downtown? This is certainly good news!

Cleveland: Edgewater Park
I spent much of last Saturday at Edgewater and was impressed. It's really beautiful. I walked down to the smaller beach west of the main beach and this area didn't seem to have been cleaned yet. It was covered with driftwood and quite a bit of litter actually... There's a sewer outflow grate there and there was trash in the water by it. Does anyone know the area I'm talking about? Hopefully it's addressed soon because the rest of the park looks AMAZING.

That's pretty interesting... I remember someone finding a rendering with their logo a while back and there was some debate about this. I used to work for Heinen's and asked an old manager if she had heard anything about this a while back. She did not, only that Heinen's was pretty set on no more expansion in NEO. This would be very surprising.

A neat experience today helping some attendees of the senior games from Ontario with boarding the WFL. They had been given RTA passes and had a great impression of the city so far. Just thought it was cool!
