Cleveland: Hotel Development
OK!!! Finally some updates from the Downtown Cleveland Market Update (DCA) The long awaited Westin will be complete in the first quarter of 2014, obviously it's been pushed back somewhat but at least we have a date. There will be 481 rooms. Most importantly, the Kimpton Hotel in the Schofield Building... According to the report construction will start quarter one of 2013 with 120 hotel rooms. Lets pray this is true!!! In total there are 741 new rooms that will become available in the next 18 months

Cleveland: Downtown: East 4th Street Developments
The Public Square Farmers market posted on Facebook that the market would be moving indoors for the winter season, utilizing the "5th Street Arcades" previously known as the colonial marketplace. I haven't heard it called this anywhere else. Must be new owners new name?

That stair idea is pretty cool. Never would've thought of that. If this were to happen maybe it would spur more development on the western end of the bridge

Cleveland: Hotel Development
Got it... Kimpton : 161 Aloft : 150 Westin : 472 Le Meridien (maybe) : I'd guess around 150 ? Total is 933 new rooms The Westin Pittsburgh has 616, which from what we've discussed is actually pretty small for a Convention Center hotel. Some larger ones have 1,000-2,000 rooms. Just some interesting stats. If we're getting 1000 new rooms already, adding an additional 1000 or so in one hotel more seems unlikely at the moment.

Cleveland: Hotel Development
Westin, Kimpton, Aloft, possibly Le Meridien... That's 4 hotels we will hopefully have soon. I really wonder if a very large convention sized hotel would even consider Cleveland right now, or if they would wait and see how the other new brands fare. Does anyone know approx. how many rooms those four would contain all together?

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
The more complete this project is the more excited I am! I really think its going Breathe a lot of life into the whole area. The glass on the lakeside entrance is fairly complete and they are planting trees down below the ballroom.

Cleveland-Akron: Bicycling Developments and News
That's unfortunate... There are very often several cops in front of Tower City. Too bad there didn't seem to be any around during this incident.

Cleveland: Hotel Development
Good news, I think. Downtown Cle Alliance just tweeted a pic of the view from the soon to be Westin and said they were given a construction tour. So I guess it's still going. I walk by/look at it every day and havnt seen ANYTHING happen for months so I was so happy to hear something! Hopefully well see activity soon.

Cleveland: Downtown: Euclid & 9th Tower / Schofield Building Redevelopment
I'm fairly certain that Calfee is done. I walk by it everyday. This morning there was some lights on inside the first floor of the Schofield building but idk if that's unusual or not

Cleveland: Downtown Office Buildings Updates
Just an interesting but of info I learned today; just in the short time Britton Gallagher has been in One Cleveland Center, Optima has signed two full floor tenants and several partial floor tenants moving the occupancy rate up 5-10%. Because the market has changed, so have the lease terms for the newest tenants, meaning the amazing deals that were being given out just a few months ago are now somewhat less of a bargain. Demand is definitely rising. Overall I thought this was encouraging, hope the trend continues!

Cleveland: Hotel Development
Does anyone have an inside scoop as to what this reinvestment in the Ritz Carlton will include? Is it just lobby renovations, or is there more. I was just thinking how great it would be if they could reopen the Century space... that bar would be a very popular spot for happy hour! ;) ;) ;)

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
Today for the first time I noticed workers installing four pretty tall structures on all four corners of mall C. I think you can see in the pic. I guess they're lights? Don't see that in any rendering. Was trying to figure out the purpose, since there are already smaller lights lining the area

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
Good info. Thanks. I see no mention of the West Side Transit Center proposed for the parking lot west of public square. Is that still in discussion???

Cleveland: Retail News
I see H&M slightly differently than TJMaxx/Marshalls. I think its the right fit for something like E. 4th, but I understand the no "draw" issue for convincing a store to come downtown. UC is heading in the right direction but if downtown is struggling to attract retail I really dont think UC will somehow become the mecca of upscale shopping... at least not for a while

Cleveland: Retail News
I guarantee an H&M in the former dredgers union space would be a success. You'd hit every group: residents, workers, visitors, sports attendees, concert goers etc. I think it's a start but probably will never happen. That place is like the universal draw right now no matter your price point. Often no matter how packed E 4th was, DU was totally empty. I know we discussed that already so no need to rehash. Just wish I could find out if maron has courted a popular national brand like H&M. OR if theyd ever think of downtown.

Cleveland: Downtown: Jack Cleveland Casino - Phase 2
This should be fascinating to watch... Much more so than phase one will this effect several aspects of the city... The river, tower city food court, theater, walkway to gateway, rapid track entrance, and most of all building an entire side to Huron where there is now nothing. It will eliminate many problems and eyesores with something that will hopefully be great looking. Can't wait to see some activity.
