  1. Well TIMES UP. And no charter school has bought the building as far as I know. So does this mean it is officially on the market? I walk by here everyday and when you really look at this building it is beautiful, especially the huge mature trees surrounding the property. It is really unique. If any developer did anything to those trees they should be shot. :shoot:
  2. Just a few from my phone yesterday. I have more on my camera I'll post later. The atrium is really unbelievable. You have to see it on person to really understand how massive the space is, yet at the same time incredible peaceful, cool (as in the temperature!) and relaxing. There were quite a few people there around 6pm and it was fun just to sit an watch the reactions of people walking in for the first time. Everyone was first speechless and then could not stop raving about it to everyone around them. Can't wait to see the completed project. It felt like I'd never been to the museum before, everything flows so much better.
  3. While this article made me laugh... that building is pretty dang ugly! lol Ive been curious what they are going to do with that space between the windows and the chain link fence along the tracks.
  4. Anyone ever been to the Quincy Market in Boston? I think a cool mix of local food spots having an outpost as well as interesting retailers etc. would not only draw a business crowd but a tourist crowd. Believe it or not there are people sightseeing downtown on any given day... Lol anyways I've always thought of Quincy Market in regards to this project.
  5. Anyone notice some sprucing on PS? They were power washing the fountain this afternoon and some sections of brick are being replaced on the other quadrants.
  6. I've been wondering. I walk by it everyday and absolutely no sign of life... :( really disappointing but hopefully work will start up again soon
  7. So excited! I wasnt expecting that. I cant wait to see it
  8. :-o Stunning. I am so jealous Mayday! I walk by here almost everyday and wish I could go inside..... :x KJP was right, the windows are huge and the views are fantastic. Very unique angles of the city you don't usually see. Sign me up, I'd live there in a heartbeat.
  9. Oh no!!! Wow I was at Sarava on Tuesday. So sad. And I went to Sergio's for the first time Wednesday! How sad
  10. On the door to Cowboy Rock there is a sign that says BARROOM has been closed for repairs. Says nothing about CR but seems pretty obvious that it is no more.
  11. I always have too. We can wish. But the historic connection, with the dome being made by Tiffany, is a unique asset.
  12. This is going to get me in trouble likely lol but I've wondered for a long time; if theoretically a department store (I know.) was interested in the May Co building, what limitations are present because of the other businesses on the first floor? Could the space of Cowboy Rock become the Public Square entrance?
  13. theres still hope! Here we go back into a frenzy. Seriously though this space could be so much more... lets hope! The phone number has been "temporarily disconnected" :|
  14. Awesome. That place should be a treasure, and this plan would certainly draw attention to it. It's certainly nice to see more investment on Lorain, but also kind of a bummer to see another one of the smaller ethnic markets around 25th disappear. I don't think it's being replaced... Just expanded. I believe there are two surface parking lots on either side of the building. It'd be nice to see those utilized! Hopefully the existing structure is kept.
  15. I posted the link in the RTA news thread. KJP also posted an interesting summary of what used to be on this now empty rail paths.
  16. Wow KJP, what a great summary! Very informative, thanks for taking the time to put that together.
  17. What exactly is the story for these empy rail paths? There is one along the green line too and it looks like it even has the rapid power lines over it but its clearly abandoned.
  18. Market Garden Brewery posted this in Facebook today, comparing it to the Highline in NYC. I think it could really be something amazing and hope it can really happen. http://vimeo.com/m/47455336
  19. I think the tower is unique, nobody's going to like every architectural style. What I think is absolutely hideous are the adjoining office buildings and the parking structure. YUCK. those need to go. Including the rusting skybridge!
  20. Random question: is the Lincoln building/IMG parking center on the corner of St. Clair and 6th completely empty except for the ground level businesses?? Given its location and the Westin coming in right across the street, I think it's time for a major rehab or.... A new building?? ;P
  21. Today: looks like they were cleaning the PA facade. Also spraying the inside of the CC with foam. What a messy job! The guy was completely covered. Finally, new street lights have been installed along lakeside. How many different kinds of streetlights do we have downtown?! Lol
  22. Yup. I guarantee put an H&M there and it'd be packed. Whenever I was down there even during games and events when East Fourth was packed the store would be practically empty.
  23. Disappointing but not surprised. It seemed that though in an obvious place, DU was hidden. Most people probably didn't even know it existed. Even when E 4th was busy I never saw anyone inside. Maybe just my perception, but it just didn't seem to draw people in. I wonder if the prices were too high for "non name brand/designer" clothing. People will pay thru the roof for things even in Cleveland... But those things need a name on them. Just a thought. Still sad to see it go
  24. I walked by the mall facing side of Public Hall this afternoon and it's pretty cool to see the facade being repaired after the addition's removal destroyed large chunks of the limestone. They actually have huge prefabricated pieces lined up and ready to be put in place including all the decorative elements.
  25. From waterfront line. It's a pretty impressive view
